Shepherds hut holiday rentals in South Hams District

Had the best couple of days staying at the hut, was greeted by Alexandra who was extremely friendly and helpful she showed us the facilities and hut. hut itself was a lovely little place, we could've happily stayed for longer. If we are ever back in the area we would definitely stay again, thanks so much :)

This is our 5th time staying at The Glade. Myself, my son and our pooch love it there. Its so private, quiet and i love to sit amongst the wildlife and bird watch. A nice walk in the woods right beside the hut or just a chilled swing in the hammock. It is our favourite place to unwind. I love how everytime we visit the surroundings look different with the ever changing wildlife. It is as beautiful in winter and rain as it is in the sun and summer. Autumn has to be my favourite. Juliet is a lovely host and is not intrusive in the slightest. However she is very responsive if you need anything. We had a lovely chat this time whilst i was sat bird watching and she told me about a few birds she had seen. What can i say if you need to unwind then this is the place. Comfortable, quiet, homely and warm.

We loved our stay in the shepherd's hut. We wanted a peaceful escape surrounded by nature and it was exactly that. We were rained in for one day but it ended up being our favourite experience- the hut is so cosy, everything you need is to hand, and we could sit and watch the scenery for hours. On the sunnier days there is a short walk to the coast path and the views of the coastline. The toilet and shower is the perfect set up, we also loved the outside bath and the wood stove.

We had the most perfect stay at Rosies Retreat with our dog. Lucy was a fantastic host, we loved how accommodating she was through airbnb and we love a key box check in, we were left to enjoy the space which is how we like it but we knew she was there in the background if we did find we needed anything. This is a perfect retreat with a well behaved reactive dog who just loves to look out at a view and has nothing around to spook them 🐾 all three of us are fully recharged and already looking forward to another visit sometime x

The Shepherd's Hut was a very comfortable and convenient stay for our needs. The interior is very cute and the theme is applied perfectly. Nice to be on the edge of a working farm. The escapee ducks were a highlight. Communication with Mandy was easy. We would come back.

Will and Gill were amazing hosts. We had an issue where we lost our car key while on a beach walk and they could not have been more helpful. Regarding the shepherd's hut itself, it was everything we hoped for. More spacious than appears I'm the photos and was more than enough room for two adults , two kids and a dog. Nicely furnished and well kitted out, it had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Hot tub was a big hit with kids and adults alike. Very private and peaceful with large field for the dog to run around , it really had everything. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

Very responsive host, beautiful interior & excellent use of space! However, the road noise could be disturbing at times. Fortunate to have good weather which enabled us to make use of the fire pit & wood supply to stargaze & watch the sun go down after a long day exploring the local area! Bed was amazing & keen to know what duvet is used! We did take a large breed dog which wasn’t advisable by the host due to space but found she had enough room to sleep & loved the outdoor space provided!! Thank you so much for accommodating us Michelle it was a beautiful weekend! Would definitely want to visit again!

What a fantastic break away at Pattishams Escape. The place was clean and tidy and it was amazing how much stuff can fit into a very small (but wonderfully cosy) space, thanks to the efficiency of the design. We were met with a delightful cream tea to enjoy after our long drive, and with a Sainsbury’s a 5 min drive away, this was followed by a delicious BBQ on the fire pit! From coffee in the mornings looking out at the beautiful surroundings, to relaxing in the hot tub, to peaceful walks down by the nearby river - Pattishams Escape is ultimate relaxation. Also such a treat for the dog with what feels like endless private space to bound around in! It was so recharging and wonderful to forget about time and just enjoy existing - the perfect place to do this. Thanks and we would love to come back!

Great place, highly recommend!! Gary was a fantastic host, who instantly made us feel right at home. The shepherds hut was amazing, in a quiet spot with no noise. It was my partners birthday so they provided some amazing extra’s to arrive to, as well as some homemade cookies. If you’re visiting Cornwall, stay here - you won’t be disappointed!

What an absolutely beautiful place to stay! The hut was like something out of a fairytale. Ei has excellent taste, it was decorated perfectly. From the bed you have views over the rolling hills of the surrounding farmland and also of the wildflower meadow in the garden. It is so peaceful there- we woke up to the sound of birds singing every morning with no other noise. Ei also has a very friendly cat who chose to join us for our dinners in the garden. She left us lots of lovely local food and drinks in the kitchen which were delicious. There is also a barbecue outside in case you feel like having one one evening. The bed is extremely comfy. The only thing I might mention is that the mattress is quite soft and might not be the best for people with back problems.

We had a lovely 2 night stay in Noahs Ark. It was so peaceful, sat in the big comfy bed, drinking amazing fresh coffee watching the wildlife in the field. The goats and horses were entertaining and friendly. The hosts were friendly and thoughtful, but left us in peace. Every thing you need is there, the shower is great and the Simba king sized bed made us never want to leave. Listening to the rain pitter pattering on the roof whilst reading one of the books was perfect. Thank you G and P!

What an amazing relaxing place. Nothing was to much trouble for our host Dennis, he made our stay great. We had a wonderful day in Salcombe which had plenty of lovely pubs, restaurants with great food and fabulous views of the estuary. Lots of shops to also get a little retail therapy done 😊 We will definitely be returning and highly recommend a visit to anyone who is looking for a place to stay and wants to spend the evenings unwinding in the very clean, warm hot tub!

my boyfriend and I had such a lovely time staying here to celebrate my 20th. lucy, the host, is an absolute gem! she's absolutely lovely, showed us round the property and made us feel right at home. we ran into an issue while there but it was fixed up right away and she was even kind enough to give us a complimentary bottle of wine for the inconvenience which we enjoyed in the hot tub! the place was super clean with lots of added amenities to keep you busy. the views are also absolutely stunning and the whole trip just felt so peaceful, definitely what we needed after a stressful uni year! we would love to come back soon, we had such a memorable time and thank you so so much for everything! :)

We had an amazing time here, the hut is brilliantly designed and has everything you could need. the garden was perfect for our Broder Collie who loved having the freedom to run around, and we had lovely evenings cooking on the fire pit. thank you so much and we can't wait to come again soon.

We had such a wonderful stay for my partners birthday, Clive went the extra mile to make us feel welcome by putting up some birthday decorations and leaving us some treats for when we arrived. It's a perfect place to get away and unwind in nature, we were always surrounded by animals whether it was Norman the cat visiting during a bbq, hanging out with the goats, or watching the ducks drift about in the stream while relaxing in the hot tub. Thank you very much to Clive and Nikki for hosting us. I cannot recommend Kingfisher enough, we truly had an amazing time :)

Mike's place was an absolute dream for our pre-baby, relaxing getaway with our Whippet! It completely exceeded our expectations. The location is perfect, right on the SW coast path yet feeling wonderfully secluded, while still being just a quick 5-minute drive to Lyme Regis. Although the listing mentioned the garden wasn't fully secure, we found it to be very secure for our Whippet which was an added bonus. There are also several gates to pass through on the way from the parking area, adding to the security. Our dog lovedddd running about with a frisbee and then sunbathing ha! We honestly loved the property so much (especially the pool!) that we barely left, only venturing out for morning coffee and breakfast. Mike's recommendations were spot on – Poco Pizza was fantastic for takeaway, and communication was excellent throughout. We'll be hard-pressed to find another Airbnb that compares and look forward to coming back with our baby. Thank you!

The Shepard’s hut was the perfect, quiet and rural stay we needed to switch off from our busy lives! The Shepards Huts are set in the woodland area of the hosts drive, but far enough away from each other and their home. They are cosy, private and peaceful. Abbie has placed lots of small things that have a real homely touch. From board games to tea, milk and cakes which were left for us on arrival. (Always a win!). The hut is in a brilliant location with lots of popular towns and village's being only 20/30 minutes drive. We drove to Watergate Bay and for an evening dog walk along the beach and take away pizzas one evening. It only took a 20 minuet drive and I highly recommend as it was an amazing sunset! Although the Hut is set back from the local village, you could easily walk there. There is a small village pub, shop and a takeaway I really can’t fault this place and highly recommend to anyone booking a stay here. Thank you for having us and we will hope to come back again!

Amazing from start to finish! Great communication, easy directions, smooth self check in and a lovely rural peaceful location! We all felt very welcome. The Shepherd’s Hut was spotless and very well prepared for us with a thoughtful little welcome gifts. We really appreciated the attention to every single detail! The guide book with local tips was very useful. Now I regret not booking more nights as this was only a little stop on our way down to south Cornwall, but we’ll definitely be back! We had the privilege of staying at little Bow Green for four nights and we had the most amazing time. From the moment we arrived, it was the complete Wow factor. Everything was perfect and the passion, love and attention to detail shone through. We loved all the little surprises and unexpected treats. Blessed with some beautiful weather we have loved cooking breakfast outside, making pizzas and lots of hot tubbing. As well as the odd the trip the greyhound pub and Lyme Regis. We would definitely come back (for the fruitcake alone) and have already had friends asking us for more info. Thank you so much, it was the tranquil break that was much needed. A great get away that was easy to find. With fantastic views and an extremely peaceful area surrounded by farmland. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

This is out 7th stay at Jackie's place and this time was for our minimoon after our wedding on the Saturday and Jackie and Johnny did us proud again, left some balloons, flowers, fizz and a lovely card for our wedding day. We had such a relaxed and stress free break, can't wait to go back again. Thanks again ❤️

An absolutely wonderful shepherd’s hut!! We loved roasting marshmallows on the fire pit and stargazing from the hot tub! Jen was so lovely and thoughtful, and even decorated the hut with a birthday banner and balloons for my partner’s birthday! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a cosy, private, and peaceful holiday in the middle of the countryside. We can’t wait to come back!
