Holiday rentals with lake access in Litchfield County

Jonathan’s house was so beautiful and comfortable. And we had lots of fun (adults and kids!) it was the perfect getaway. Highly recommend and would definitely go back!

If you want to escape into a fairytale this is the place for you! This is the cutest most eclectic Airbnb you can experience, up in the trees with a beautiful lake to kayak and swim in! We took a day just to play games and eat and take in the vibes of the home. Everything from the outdoor shower in the trees to the path to the lake feels magical. A gem of a home if you’re looking for a waterfront property with great lake access. David’s home is well stocked with everything you need - from baking to cooking , from laundry to great choices of board games , a nice library if reading by the water is what you care to do . If you’re a bass fisherman like me , you have direct access to Squantz Pond, which can be a great fishing alternative to nearby Candlewood Lake. The property is close to the main road and traffic can be a nuisance to folks who are not used to it . City folks like me don’t mind it. David was a great host , very responsive . There was a slight miscommunication during check in , but that was taken care of right away . My family hopes to come back again . BTW, for those who don’t know how to play the piano , take some brief lessons before coming and impress your folks. Joe

The best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed at! It truly felt like home—every detail was so thoughtfully taken care of. You have everything you need for a comfortable stay, from a well-stocked space to those little touches that make a big difference. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, and even though it rained, the hosts had dry firewood ready for the fireplace, which made it feel extra warm and inviting. We loved sitting by the lake and even saw a fish jump out of the water—such a magical moment! Communication with the host was excellent from start to finish. And thank you so much for approving our cats to stay with us—it meant the world. If we could give 10 stars, we absolutely would. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and welcoming getaway. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

What a wonderful stay! We loved the location - beautiful view of the lake. House is very comfortable, clean, and easy to get to. Tracie and Sean were excellent in communicating everything we needed to know to have an enjoyable stay. We'll be back again with life jackets and fishing poles so we can enjoy some time on the lake!

We had a wonderful stay at this location during my daughter’s graduation from Bard College. The location has beautiful views of the lake and the layout of the property was perfect for the family to gather and celebrate, while also giving everyone the space for their own quiet time or rest. I would definitely recommend this location and hope to have the opportunity to stay again.

We spent a peaceful five days relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of this cabin. Steven graciously accepted our last minute reservation and also our request to extend our stay since we were having such a lovely time. No one was staying in the main house while we were there so we had the grounds to ourselves. The cabin itself is spotless and minimalist, with everything you need to cook in the modern kitchen or grill outside. We stayed with our pup and enjoyed walking him five minutes down the road to explore the town park (we had it to ourselves in mid-May but imagine it’s much busier during the summer). WiFi is super fast and we were able to work remotely without issue.

Wonderful location , across the street with a unobstructed view of Highland lake . The interior is sun lit from two picture windows facing south , spacious rooms including the kitchen and bath. Comfortable bed and furniture and off street parking , complete a very accommodating setting ! Two minutes off the main street in Winsted. Highly recommended with thanks to Jeanne and her husband for being so helpful and responsive .

Margie’s place is an amazing hidden gem. The inside is very clean and comfortable. The outside is an experience of its own. The lake will drop your blood pressure immediately. Gorgeous surroundings. The dogs are friendly and lovable. We will be back! 👍🏼

Great stay!!! Was impeccably cleaned and perfect location between rhinebeck, pine plains and close to the taconic! Arlene was super helpful with all questions and provided new sheets and towels through our stay. Would definitely stay here again!

The apartment was beautiful and as soon as we walked in I could feel myself relax. The view is stunning and the apartment is warm and inviting. We reserved the apartment on very short notice and Mark was so helpful and responsive. Highly recommend!

We had a great say. Beautiful area. Tremendous lake which we enjoyed by kayak. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice sitting area outside and another on the front porch. We were here early June and so the eatery next store and another up the road were not open for the season quite yet. Great communication.

We are appreciative of a clean place to lay our heads. Cindy’s place is exactly as described. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it was stocked with pots, pans, spices, coffee, and tea. The bathroom was spotless and beautiful. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The linens were clean and fragrant free. Cindy was proactive in helping us to check-in, and quickly responded to my texts. People live upstairs, so we did hear some activity, but it was not disruptive in any way. In mid-October, the weather was chilly, and so the room was chilly too. We needed the space heater that was provided. We were grateful for a great stay!

We loved our stay here. It was the perfect place for two of us and our dog. The home was just as described, welcoming, cosy and well equipped, and we appreciated all the local recommendations. We enjoyed local walks, the lake, and the great dog park, as well as easy access to Middletown to visit our son. Elisabeth and Daniel were fantastic hosts!

My friends and I loved our weekend getaway at Vivian's lake house. Vivian was a very responsive host and provided clear instructions that made our stay seamless. The space was super clean, modern, and easily accommodated all 8 of us. The highlight of our trip was spending time on the lake with the provided kayaks and paddle boards. We enjoyed ending the day by grilling and sitting around the fire pit. We wish we had stayed longer!

Was visiting the area from Chicago for a friend’s wedding. The place was in such a cute neighborhood. I loved taking morning walks with our pup to ball pond and enjoying the peacefulness of the surrounding neighborhood (which was quiet and friendly!). Upon arrival it was very clean and well organized. The plus was the fenced backyard so our dog Andee could enjoy relaxing in the grass. There were also a bunch of great restaurants nearby and easy to door dash. Overall really enjoyed the stay and would book again!

Beautiful place, lots of things to do in the cottage and it’s also right next to a beautiful lake/recreation area. Not too far from the city either, so it made for an excellent getaway. Wylda was very communicative and clear with her instructions, and everything went super smoothly.

What a wonderful place to rest, relax, and maybe get a little bit of work done too. Home was perfect for the whole work from home situation with a extra monitor and everything. Also had a fully enclosed yard for the dogs. We spent the week up in Connecticut, in this wonderful home, that felt perfectly in between a hotel, and simply staying at a friend‘s house who was extremely clean, conscientious, and out of town. Would recommend to other others and will try to stay again.

Stayed at Adam and Nicole’s place for two nights while attending a festival nearby. Was a good size for myself, my daughter and a friend. The place itself is adorable and comfortable. Like staying in the three bears house in the woods with wifi, and gorgeous private wooded backyard and view to the lake across the road. The upstairs was a little stagnant upon arrival, but we opened the windows and put the fans on, which made it much better for sleeping at night. The house book and notes were very helpful. Kitchen and bathroom clean and well stocked! Loved it! Best of all, the hosts were accommodating and communicative. 🥰
