The house is in a beautiful setting surrounded by mountains with peaceful views from the front porch that include a field of lavender and a stream. A forested trail network can be accessed at the far end of the lavender field--so bring your hiking shoes. The house is stunning with clean lines, "european" design and decor that includes high-end appliances and fixtures. Francesca is the ultimate host-very friendly and helpful. She provided all the information and details on the house that you would need for an easy check-in, stay, and check-out. From my initial conversations with her when I booked the house to helpful messages just before and during our stay, I felt like I was staying at the house of an old friend. We look forward to staying at Orso Blu on a future trip!

I’m all for historical homes and this one just topped the cake. To actually have fun, not worry about tvs and other things we enjoyed our time and relaxed after dance competitions. Highly recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed my return visit to Patricia’s gem of a cottage. In my experience, it is rare to find a beautifully crafted and cared for cottage in a gorgeous wooded setting just 10 minutes from civilization. Also, and importantly, Patricia herself is a generous, joyful host; and her hen house with exotic chickens, and meandering grounds are a delight to explore.

This home was lovely. A lot of fun activities at the home and right near the lake. We enjoyed the games and golf cart a lot. The beds and pillows were very comfy!

Eric’s place was exactly what we were hoping it would be. It was clean, cozy, comfortable and it felt like home. We were attending a wedding nearby so we were in and out a lot but loved being welcomed by the dogs, the cat and the roosters and hens. Wish we had more time there! Would definitely stay at Marigold’ Retreat again!

Angela was a great host! She replied very quickly to my questions and was very accommodating to my request for an early check in. Our daughter graduated from Longwood on Saturday and our stay here made everything more than enjoyable. We were so close to everything and Angela’s check in instructions were so clear it made check in a breeze. The apartment was immaculate. In addition to everything being incredibly organized (labels on cabinets to avoid having to search for things; very nice touch) the beds were very comfortable and plenty of towels were available in both bedrooms. I would definitely recommend Angela and her location again!

We had a great stay. The Home Stretch was perfect for the calm and quiet getaway my family needed. The owners have meticulously thought through everything a guest may need or need to know and have labeled the home accordingly, which made getting settled in a breeze. Great place to stay because you're just a few short blocks away from Cary Street, where there are lots of great stores and restaurants. We walked over several times to get coffee and go to a restaurant, and then shopping the next morning. The apartment is not "new" -- it's in one of the many old houses that line the street. But it was fun and had some character. The bed might be a little soft for some people, but I was comfortable.

We had another nice stay at Mark’s place while attending our daughter’s graduation at VCU.

We had a great time at Jill's apartment. Well-stocked kitchen and bathroom, comfortable beds, and the living room, which has a wonderful mural, was perfect for relaxing conversation.

Stylish condo with beautiful views off the Bluffwalk. Very clean and well-appointed with comfortable and cozy bedding. Awesome central location within downtown - so many fun shops and restaurants in walking distance. Great walking trails along the river as well! Jessica is great to deal with, very responsive. Highly recommend, and hope to return!

“Tranquility Cove” is a perfect description of our restful & relaxing stay that my husband & I enjoyed during Mother’s Day weekend. Mary Anne is an exceptional host who provided for all our comforts with every amenity that we needed to enjoy a relaxing weekend at Smith Mountain Lake. The view of the sunrise over the lake & mountains along with the peaceful surroundings, access to the swimming pool & fitness center provided all that we needed for our dream-vacation-weekend. My husband & I have found our vacation destination at SML!
