We had a wonderful time at the cottage. It's an amazing place - so cosy and comfortable with great views. Francis is a fantastic host - really friendly and helpful. I couldn't recommend the place more highly. Thanks Francis!

The cottage was spotless (clearly recently renovated, well-maintained and well-scrubbed that day) and full of welcoming touches upon our arrival, including a fresh loaf of bread and butter, tea, good coffee, milk and eggs. Margaret proactively invited us to check in early if we wanted, and it was very easy to find the place with her instructions. Our kids were occupied, playing a game and reading faerie stories from Margaret’s small collection, within minutes. It was a perfect retreat, with lovely, pastoral views out of every window, and bird song in the morning. It is only a few minutes to Slieve Gullion (interesting history and mythology)/Killeavy Castle (nice restaurant) and a small grocery. When we met our host, we understood where the kindness and welcome had come from— Margaret’s husband called the horses to us for the kids to pet, and gifted my daughter the book she had found there. Comfortable beds; quiet. Would recommend to anyone looking for a little country retreat.

Myself and three family members stayed at Candlefort Lodge for a few nights. We were charmed with it. Mary and Brian present a fantastic apartment with all the comforts of home. There was a lovely, much appreciated welcome pack left for us which was a really nice touch and very generous. The kitchen is fantastically kitted out with all sorts of utensils. We cooked breakfasts in the apartment each morning, the pans were fab, nothing stuck to them. All four of us agreed the beds are very comfortable and we all slept very well. The showers were great and the water pressure was very impressive. Candlefort is set in very peaceful surroundings and the river passing at the end of the garden very picturesque. Mary made a point of coming to say hello and that was really nice. Check in and check out were eaay and the instructions were very clear. Communication from Mary was prompt. We would love to return to Candlefort at some point and we would highly recommend it. Thanks Mary & Brian.

We wanted to stay outside of Dublin and this house in knockbridge was beautiful. The deli on the corner has amazing food, the local pub and friendly and inviting and the church across the street has beautiful stained glass windows and open to the public. The house had fresh,m eggs and milk available and lots of recommendations for local restaurants .
