Cottage holiday rentals in Funchal

We had a wonderful time at Emanuels place. He was a wonderful host, very helpful with recommendations and showing how everything worked. The view from his place is incredible. We spent almost every evening on the terrace, enjoying the view of the ocean and Ribeira Brava. What a wonderful place! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa do Cantinho do Muro. The house is spacious and ideal for 4 people. We really enjoyed the extra summer kitchen with the barbecue. Everything was ready to use and easy. The neighborhood is quiet, the view is magnificent with the mountains that surround the valley.

Fantastic views from the garden. The host was super helpful and quick to respond. There was a very generous welcome gift of fruits and local produce.

We had the privilege of renting this efficient and comfortable home for a month. Mary is an extraordinary host. Directions were precise, information was thorough and she was available to offer assistance, and answer questions at any time. Fresh citrus trees were available for picking just off the generous patio. We enjoyed the hot tub and having a washer and dryer and outdoor clothes rack. The Poncha Bar down the street is the best!!! Mary’s husband Joseph is the owner/bartender/coffee maker and general store manager….he does it all! Joseph’s Poncha is hands down the best we found on the island! A safe and welcoming neighborhood, in a central location on a stunning island.

We had a great stay. Unfortunately, during our stay, a glass lid fell from the cupboard above the hob onto the hob. It was broken. Immediately reported and arranged with the owner. Very nice. Furthermore, the location is great, it is very quiet and beautiful. You are exactly on the right sunny side of Madeira. The cocktail bar a little further, pukiki, is within walking distance and very nice to go to. Shops are close by, the beach is close by and the beautiful hiking trails are perfect to drive to. There is no air conditioning, I think that if it gets warmer you will notice the heat, but there is a fan. The beds by the pool had collapsed, so we just used our outdoor chairs. Everything in the cottage is otherwise great. No great luxury but perfect for the price, the location and everything you need is present.

Pretty cottage on the heights of Sao Jorge. Comfortable, well-decorated, we only occupied it with two but it can accommodate 5 people. Great location for hiking departures. Two good restaurants nearby: Casa de Palha and Aeréo cafe (delicious beef skewers with an amazing view of the terrace).

Susy was so helpful from the booking through to check out, always quick to respond and give helpful advice. The house is beautifully decorated. A lovely basket of local treats and fresh flowers were there when we arrived. Views over Funchal and the private pool make this a great place to stay!

The accomodation was nice, soooo quiet and peaceful. Only the bird chirping we can hear during our stay. the view from the covered terace was amazing. it was easy to reach the house by car. We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage.

We can clearly say: this was the most beautiful Airbnb we have ever stayed in!!! The location, the property, the pool and above all: the beautiful little cottage. Every detail is just right, so tasteful and authentic, beautiful materials, not one element too many or too few. You'll fall in love! Normally, we almost always go out for breakfast and eat, but here we often preferred to stay on the beautiful veranda. Dustin and Paula were always there for us and made sure that we always had everything we needed. We will be happy to come back!!!

If you're looking for a quiet area to get away from the crowds in the cities this is a wonderful place. It's nestled in the mountain valleys near Ponta do Prago but quite near the ocean. We loved our 6 day stay at Frederica 's. She provided good, clear instructions to get there. She also gave us very useful information on local attractions, restaurants and supermarkets. The house is on a very steep pitched road so walking up and down it can be a challenge ( we are in our 70's ) We did it a few times. There is a walk from her house to the waterfalls . It took us about 2 hrs. Rnd-trip but it was well worth it. If we were to return we'd go back in April or later.

This place is amazing! In the middle of the mouintains and almost no one around - felt magical ! Nice view of the ocean with green surrounding. It is also close to the small village with good coffee :) House looks like in the pictures, cozy, big and clean. Garden is well kept with many areas to hang out. We have the worst weather but with two electric heaters it was warm inside. The host was friendly, helped us with all issues that we asked and made this holidays really easy-going for us :) thanks! Highly recommended for memorable and relaxed holidays :) PS The swimming pool can be heated but it costs 45€/day and it has to be heated for at least 5 days.

Our wonderful host Sofia stopped by before we left and said “Isn’t it magical?” … it sure is and more. You will need nothing; you will want nothing more; you may forget all your plans to hike, find miradouro’s, and explore, because Villa Papaya is simply mesmerizing and keeps you in your happy place. If you must leave this Villa, it is close enough to just about everywhere you’ll want to go. José and Sofia are excellent at what they do; take advantage of this opportunity if you can, It’s Magical!

We felt very comfortable in Domingo's house. We particularly liked the view of the bay and the sea from the two terraces (even more beautiful than in the photos!) The house is quietly located on a narrow and steep one-way street. It is very spacious and clean and very well equipped with plenty of dishes, pots, towels, etc. Next to the terrace there is an extra barbecue room with another kitchen and access to the garden from which we were allowed to pick herbs. Although the street is narrow and steep, parking was no problem - the walk into the village takes 20 - 30 minutes depending on condition. The contact with the manager was very friendly and reliable. We were greeted personally and very warmly and as a welcome greeting there was a large package of wine, fresh eggs, bananas, cookies and cakes. The house is a good starting point to explore the west of the island and we are happy to recommend it. Obrigada!

Regina’s house is sparkling clean, elegant and with breathtaking review. It is defiantly the best Airbnb we had in Madeira! Regina is super considerate and shows super care to her guest, we were welcomed with fresh bread (very yammy!!) and local wine and groceries which made our first day a easy one. We were able to cook traditional dishes “Espetada Madeirense” using the BBQ. The house has everything you will need for a comfortable stay and you won’t need to go anywhere else, the view on the deck is unbeatable!

Thank you so much to Costa and Siestke, their home is beautiful and was our perfect base - we were so happy to have slow mornings there and return home there in the evening after exploring the island. Porto de Cruz is a great little village with the old rum factory and beaches, we really loved our stay here. Costa ans Sietske were so gracious, sharing the history of the building and local recommendations, it was a pleasure to meet both of them. Thank you so much for everything! 10/10 highly recommend, especially if you want a cosy, authentic place to yourself on the island. Perfect!

Lovely house, great furniture, good Internet. We especially loved the sun room. The house is in a compound with two other houses, but we only saw the neighbors once. Only downside: we were there in April and it was foggy and we could not get the cold & moisture out of the house no matter what we did.

Exceptional stay! I had a perfect time in this accommodation. The apartment was clean, well-equipped and tastefully decorated. Everything matched the ad, even better! The neighborhood is quite, nice. A big thank you to the host, very responsive, welcoming and attentive. You can tell she really cares about everything going well. I recommend it with my eyes closed and I will come back without hesitation if the opportunity arises.

Everything was just perfect! The view and balcony were incredible! The bed was very comfortable.
