This is a lovely and spacious cottage with an amazing location! The small village is very relaxing and quiet, just what we were looking for. There are so many different types of landscapes to hike around very close by, marshes, lakes, forests, rocky mountains, heather fields, grassy pastures... The house has A Lot of helpful maps and brochures to pick the perfect route (with options for all abilities) if you have not come prepared. The location is very convenient as in 15-20 min you can reach the main motorway that cuts through the Highlands. It's only a bit more than an hour away from Inverness and about two hours away from Glencoe. Though with the national park at your doorstep you are already spoiled for choice and don't need to go far to enjoy some of the best landscapes in Scotland. Bridie was attentive and easy-going. She provided clear instructions and a lot of suggestions for local activities and amenities. We wish we could live in the cottage forever 😊

The cottage is located in a quiet country setting with a bright sunroom looking over fields towards the Cairngorms mountain range and walking trails - ideal for birdwatchers. Our host was thoughtful and friendly. The cottage is clean and comfortable and stocked with everything guests would want including firewood and fresh eggs (than you Allan!). The location is ideal for day trips to many attractions including Loch Ness. We highly recommend this cottage and thank our hosts for a wonderful stay.

This was a beautiful house in a beautiful location. The kitchen was fully stocked with supplies for cooking, and we appreciated all her attention to detail. It definitely felt like you were staying in someone else’s home! We enjoyed the treats she left, and would definitely stay here again. It had the charm of an older home, but with the modern updates.

This is our 4th visit to Railway cottage and it won’t be our last. It’s well placed for driving in to Aviemore, Newtonmore, Kincraig and Kingussie and there are walks you can do from the door. It’s a cosy and welcoming place to stay and very comfortable. There are lots of activities on the nearby estates including quad biking, horse riding, zip wires, canyoning, clay pigeon shooting and archery. Lots of good places to eat too.
