Taigh Uilleim, Roag is a modern holiday home with breathtaking views of the Cuillin ridge and of Loch Bracadale. There is a large open lounge with picture windows showcasing the superb views! A well equipped dining kitchen and downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin or double, and the family bathroom. Sleeping up to 4 people it is perfect for families and couples alike.
“Fantastic property which we would highly recommend. Exactly as advertised. Living area very spacious, views from the lounge area are fantastic. Downstairs toilet, washing facilities and cloakroom keeps wet and muddy stuff out of the house (a useful fan heater helps dry out wet clothes!). Kitchen has everything you need, whether cooking or just using oven and microwave. All expected utensils are provided. Bedrooms are fine, plenty of room to hang clothes. Bed was comfortable and roof windows opened for extra fresh air if needed. Bathroom was great, shower was good and all were very clean. Hot water could run out if used on repeat for long periods, but we didn't find this issue at all. The location was great for getting round the island. ~45-60 mins to Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Cuillins and ~25mins to Portree, so pretty central to the main sights. Having sampled quite a few cottages around the UK, this is by far the best we've stayed in. We would definitely stay again!”
A truly one of a kind private holiday cottage located on the breathtakingly beautiful and mystical Isle of Skye. Dark Skye Cottage offers the perfect romantic getaway for two who want to escape the buzz of everyday life for a holiday on one of Scotland’s most sought after Islands. It offers the perfect balance of seclusion while still only a short walk from one of Skye’s most desirable villages.
“We stayed in Dark Skye Cottage in late January, so got a great deal out of season. We arrived to an immaculately clean cottage, with the wonderful under floor heating on so the place was nice and cosy upon arrival. On the way up the road (we were travelling to Skye from Glasgow) Fiona texted me to warn of a possible road closure, which was a very nice thing to do and really adds that "human touch" so often missing in other places. This thoughtfulness was again apparent with the lovely welcome hamper left for our arrival, with some local goodies (I wont spoil the surprise!) and some fresh eggs from their very own croft! Lovely touches that really go a long way. Dark Skye cottage itself is gorgeous - exceptionally well designed, and the attention to detail throughout is very apparent - ergonomically laid out to a high finish, and really well thought out lighting, which can be altered considerably (and easily). There are modern, easy to use appliances and abundant hot water. The cottage is actually far larger than the pictures give the impression of, and there is more than enough room to feel spacious whilst still being cosy and intimate - we felt at home as soon as we walked through the door, which is a great indication of how nice a space it is. It is extremely well insulated and brightly lit in the daylight, with great views from every window. The decoration and artwork is lovely and very tasteful as well - attention to detail in every regard throughout the cottage is outstanding - a lot of thought and design has gone into the building and it really shows. Dark Skye is literally a 5 min drive from the local shops, so getting supplies was quick and easy. Broadford is an ideal central location on Skye and the cottage is immediately at hand - but still far enough removed from the road to feel "away from it all" - so the best of both worlds, close amenities, and also remoteness with nice views - ideal. This is a long review, but I really wanted to give Dark Sky and it's hosts Gordon & Fiona the recognition they all deserve - you will get a first class experience here - in every regard, and the high end location and service really enhances your experience of staying on the island. A real first class experience. We absolutely loved it and will very likely return in the future. If you are swaying as to whether to book it or not, just go ahead and do so - I promise you will love it!”
Angels’ Share is an architect designed contemporary cottage over looking Knock Bay and the ruins of Knock Castle. There is spacious accommodation for two people, with room for two children or two “small adults” on a sofa bed. The cottage is situated on the Sleat peninsula known as the Garden of Skye. The cottage is not far from from the Skye Bridge and the mainland ferry ports. It makes a great base for exploring the whole of Skye's beautiful scenery.
“We had an amazing stay at Angels Share. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts who gave us complete space and privacy to enjoy their accommodation but we knew they were right there if we needed them, and we didn’t! Angels Share has all you could want or need and more, it’s packed with thoughtful and homely touches, providing everything to connect you with the modern world but also everything to occupy you if you want to disconnect - the best of both worlds! We have already been recommending Angels to friends and family and would recommend it to everyone. We can’t wait to return.”
