Holiday rentals with a kayak in Western North Carolina

Our family of four had such a nice stay at this special place. We stayed because I was attending my 20th college reunion nearby and we honestly ended up wanting to hang out at this place more. The sunrises and sunsets, breeze in the trees, fireflies at night, ceiling fans (I really appreciate fans!), and spaces to relax and gaze at the water were so wonderful. Our kids played for hours on the paddle boards- swimming is calm and safe and so easy for the kids. They also loved the fuseball table. Highly recommend to any family or anyone. Also food and grocery delivery were easy. We hope to go back one day.

The lake house was even better than the pictures. The property grounds were beautiful and an easy walk down to the dock. Our kids had the best time swimming from the dock and kayaking in the cove. We brought our boat and I really appreciated the nice fendering on the dock. We would love to stay at Phillips house again in the future.

We enjoyed a relaxing 3 night stay in Bobby and Dina’s beautiful, river house and they were the perfect hosts! They were very responsive to questions and even offered area suggestions including a wonderful local butcher, for our BBQ night on the deck, listening to the peaceful sounds of the river. This home had everything we needed to prepare meals, very clean and tastefully decorated. We highly recommend this home for your trip to the Murphy area and would love to return when we have more time to fish & kayak!

Beautiful home and neighborhood! Very peaceful getaway. Family friendly. Easy to get to Blowing Rock through back of neighborhood. Comfy beds. Melanie is incredibly responsive and went above and beyond! Back deck was covered with leaves and twigs from recent wind and rain - she shipped us a leaf blower same day so we could easily clean it off and enjoy it! We will definitely be back!

Paul was so quick to respond to any questions I had. He was also very friendly and helpful. Heavens Gate, WOW, the name says it all. The cabin is so beautiful and very well decorated. When you first walk in, you're on the second floor. There's large sliding doors that lead outside to the deck that has the most amazing views of the lake. It is truly breathtaking! They have a very well equipped kitchen. It has a regular pot & a K-cup maker which came in handy. There are games, tv, great wifi and an awesome hot tub! The hot tub was hot and clean. We quickly unpacked, made a mimosa and jumped right in. That view, also amazing! The Wifi worked outside to play tunes while we soaked in the tub & amazing views. The road was scary for this FL girl, but you do get use to it. Also deer walked around the house and we saw an eagle. The beds were super cozy and there were plenty of dressers to unpack. The master shower was so nice. I can go on and on... just book it, you will not regret it!

The house is beautiful, spacious, and relaxing, with an amazing view of the lake and surrounding wildlife. Spotting bald eagles, blue herons, and hawks was a special treat.

The accomodations are very comfortable and the location is quiet and peaceful plus being near to our activities. We enjoyed our stay.

This place is a great location , stocked well and can walk to everything in town . Communicate great . We were in town for a wedding at Village on Green -so easy to get to everything.

We spent Easter weekend here. As we drove in the wild azaleas and dogwoods were blooming, and everything afterwards was just as beautiful and peaceful. My teenagers loved kayaking and my daughter liked the pond so well she slept on the daybed on the porch. I appreciated the feather pillows and reverse osmosis water. Attention has been paid to every detail. I called my Nana to show her the antique desks. My small children enjoyed the toys and my middle son using the pully bucket on the porch. My daughter celebrated a birthday over our stay, more movie guests showed up than expected and I just couldn't turn these kids away. Our hosts were so kind. They of course charged a little extra as was clearly understood via the contract, they were very understanding and polite. The lock to the boat seems to be jamed, the downstairs fireplace is currently non operational, and I'm not sure I'll get back a thumb drive I forgot, but this family has worked hard to create really special place. Five star

Great place to stay. The cottages had everything we needed and was clean. We will definitely stay again. The host are very responsive and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The homemade chocolate chip cookies were delicious!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Zachary’s place and highly recommend it for a perfect lake getaway. Zachary and his family are great hosts.

Loved this stay! They were very accommodating in letting me move my reservation after some family things arose. The parking is as described so pay special note to that. I really appreciated all the small details along with a well stocked kitchen (spices, staples, even s’mores!) and the bathroom essentials. Would recommend and would stay again!

Great cottage for a couple. Beautiful gardens around the cottage. Perfect location if fly fishing or kayaking the nearby Smith River.

Great place, very peaceful and easy to just relax. Very close to bait shops, grocery stores, and marinas, and a short trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg where there are tons of things to do! Added bonus…Buc-ees is not far either :)

Exactly as advertised. She left wonderful recommendations for activities and restaurants. The town is close by and very nice. Had a great vacation.

I just happened upon this place looking at possibilities in the area, and I'm so glad I did. Honestly, I had booked another place and stayed 1 night and decided we were gonna look for something else. The greatest selling point of this place is when you walk into the front door and turn to your right and you see the view looking out across the lake, it's almost breathtaking, no joke. My daughter said it's the most beautiful place we've ever stayed in. I loved the pool table, the old Pac-man and Galaga console, the flat screen tvs all around, the hot tub around the back side. I wish we could have stayed longer. Denis was very helpful. I needed to extend our stay another day and he helped me get it figured out. My mistake was something I had to fix quickly, and Denis responded right away. He also gave some clear instructions to me about front door code, wi-fi password, and instructions on check-in and check-out. We had a great time and we plan to go back for a longer stay. We have rented homes on Watauga 15+ times and this so far has been our favorite. It’s very obvious how well the home and outside is cared for. The patio, furniture, and dock are all so clean. I have found that a lot of places lack that part. It was so nice to be able to paddleboard and kayak without paying extra. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. I highly recommend this house and plan to return for future visits if it’s available!

Very relaxing in the heart of Lake James area! Went on several hikes, mostly stayed at the house during our stay - screened in back porch was our favorite place to hang out!

What an oasis! So many fun activities to do here at the cabin! Close to beautiful hiking, waterfalls, & such a cozy place to stay. It was better than the pictures and our family was sad to leave!!

This place is a hidden gym. My son had the opportunity to encounter wild life that were very friendly just eating. The place was immaculate and very clean better than the pictures. If you’re looking for someplace that is safe, quite, yeah, close to things to do. This is your place. If I’m ever in the Blue Ridge area, this is going to be my top pick!
