We absolutely loved our stay on Rousay and in Liz and Colin’s cottage. The cottage is beautifully renovated with everything we needed plus more. The views from all the windows were spectacular. Liz and Colin were super friendly and helpful, whilst respectful of our privacy within the grounds of their working farm. We loved seeing all their lambs up close! We had some great hikes and experiences despite mixed weather. We’d originally thought to visit the Orkney mainland while we were there but there’s so much of interest on Rousay that we easily filled our time. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

Great comfort in this recently upgraded period property, very personable host made us feel right at home, quiet area near all the sights, gorgeous white sandy beach 5 mins drive safe for swimming and not too cold, good wifi, gorgeous views and sunsets . Riff Cottage was by far the best holiday rental we have ever stayed in - quiet, warm, comfortable, spacious, clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated. There are wonderful views to the farmyard and the firth and hills beyond. Greig and Lesley were the perfect hosts, quickly responsive when we needed help, friendly when we met them around the farm but otherwise unobtrusive. The location is perfect for accessing the nearby neolithic sites and nature reserves and the shop is Finstown is a short drive away. We much appreciated the ample welcome pack. We thoroughly recommend a stay at Riff Cottage.

Starting with a lovely warm welcome from Simon, in which he gave us helpful instructions on how things work and local attractions and places to eat, we had a fantastic stay at Turriedale. The cottage was charming and clean, with everything we needed and plenty to read. The location is absolutely stunning, peaceful and well located for Kirkwall and local walks and shops- Thankyou Simon for a great experience
