The apartment is easily reachable by public transport. It's very easy to find as well. The host, Mr. Naoko, is a very kind person, and he is very supportive and responsive. The apartment has almost all the appliances and utilities that may be required by any guest. To summarise, it was a nice experience and a very comfortable stay.

Loved my stay at this beautiful machiya in Kyoto. It felt like living as a local, both at home and the nearby surroundings. The bedroom is bright and beautiful, the wooden onsen with garden view is the perfect way to wind down in the evening. If you decide to stay here make sure to do the soba workshop as early as possible in your stay, it will come with useful local recommendations and way to experience the friendly and warm nature of the Japanese culture. One of the best Airbnb I ever stayed in. Will go back if I’ll have the chance.

The location is close enough to the city center that only a a short bus ride will take you downtown, but also far enough that you can enjoy the more quiet suburbs without getting rundown by all the noise! Space-wise it works well, and has everything necessary to both enjoy Kyoto and work remotely without sacrificing for comfort. I met other tourists who were in much less satisfactory housing arrangements, so I was happy to know that I chose well! The owners were kind and communicative, and although I didn't have any extra needs or requests during my stay I feel they would've been very accommodating.

Shiho was a great host! She was very proactive in her communication. We were able to find the place, check-in, and check out without any problems. Their home was very clean. We even got to enjoy a view of the fireworks from the 3rd floor on Saturday! We would definitely stay here again if returning to Otsu. Like others mentioned, you can hear the street noise--a bit more from the front bedroom than the living area or back bedroom, but it did not bother us at all as we are used to living in a city. It was convenient to walk to the mall and grocery store though we had a car. The binder with tourist information was very helpful. We are very happy with our stay. If you are looking for a quiet retreat, or have trouble with stairs, you may want to look for different accomodations.
