Guest house holiday rentals in James River

I just moved to Richmond for a new job but the lease on my apartment has begun yet. Glenn’s place was the perfect in between for me while settling into my new job. It was secluded from the main house, plenty of space for one person and a nice retreat after work.

My daughter‘s wedding was at the tent at Eastwood so we rented the cottage. It was perfect for getting ready! Really cute little place!

The space is as described/seen in the photos and felt very clean. Walkability to Downtown was a huge plus, since I came without a car. For the cons, I wished it had felt a little more private, rather than being in the middle of two houses (the neighbor’s house was especially an eye sore). Overall, the place was comfortable enough and fulfilled my needs.

This is a great little place to stay. It’s nice having it off the roadway and getting to walk through the garden with the flowers and the little pond made my daughter’s day.

The cabin was absolutely beautiful! Kelly was very responsive and friendly. We would stay here again!

We spent two nights at David’s place and it was a wonderful place to come back to after a long hike. The cottage was clean and cozy, but the one of the highlights of our trip was watching the sunset on the patio. The property is spectacular! Also bonus points for the mini muffins! Thank you for a great stay!

This is just someone opening their home, it is someone who loves to host; and it shows! Not only was the view incredible but the place felt like a home. From the little details (the “I forgot it at home” box, plenty of pool and bathroom towels, shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, having freshly ground coffee/sugar/sweetener, having spices and any kitchen utensils you could need, and even a heart keychain on the door and my name on the chalkboard). The bed was so comfortable and the shower pressure was amazing. The pool was great (although the weather was a little too cold for us to enjoy it fully)! The ceiling upstairs on one side of the bed was a little low but it was fine and worth it for a king bed. Every uber driver we had didn’t mind waiting for us as he just looked at the view. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved Rebecca’s place. Comfortable and relaxing nights on the screened in attached porch, which was a great place to wind down. Inside has all the amenities you need for comfort, pleasure and entertainment. Built for a couple, but very roomy. Centrally located and easy to get to the airport or any of the many historic sights Richmond has to offer. We are day trippers and found the location to be great for Shenandoah, Skyline Dr, Monticello, Charlottesville, Colonial Williamsburg, even Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Rebecca and Trent were great communicators and proactively made sure our needs were met. Don’t hesitate to stay here, you will find it to be just what you need.

I absolutely loved our stay at Leigh’s place. I genuinely cannot recommend this spot enough if you’re needing to get away and just unwind. Beautiful surroundings, quiet, and just overall very peaceful. Leigh was such a great and accommodating host! We will be back!

Loved our stay. The accommodations were excellent, kitchen came well equipped with instant pot, air fryer, croc, coffee and coffee maker and spices. Bed was comfortable, washer and dryer with detergent and bathroom supplies. Close to Merlin Aerodome where we had our activities.

Cute little house right beside a field of curious cows! Great for us this weekend because we were not really there much. There were a few cameras outside which made it feel like you didn't have total privacy. Close to host's residence, which was fine just not expected. RV parked right outside the front door obstructing some views. But overall worth it and would probably stay again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Star Stay – A Hidden Gem! We absolutely loved our stay at Elizabeth’s beautiful and eclectic home. The style of the house is so in right now—classic and old school, yet thoughtfully modern with gorgeous, unique touches throughout. It’s a space that immediately feels warm and welcoming, with an energy that makes you want to stay longer. Elizabeth was an incredible host, so kind, accommodating, and genuinely thoughtful. Her hospitality went above and beyond, and it made our experience even more special. The amenities here are truly next level: a zero gravity massage chair that melted our stress away, a hot tub and sauna that felt like a private spa, and even a workout/play room complete with a punching bag. It’s rare to find a place that combines charm with luxury like this. The home is all on one level, which made it super friendly for older guests or those who may have mobility challenges. Everything was easily accessible, which we really appreciated. Will come back!

The Taj Garage never disappoints! We first stayed here about three years ago and its standards have not dropped since. Highly recommend this darling accommodation.

Dales little oasis. Is one that I will think about for a while. Went there for a wedding and ended up wishing I would have stayed for longer to explore and experience more of what her listing had to offer. She made great recommendations for food. Responded immediately. Even though the air BNB is on a farm. It felt like a safe haven. Supper friendly. Very well kept. I loved how she had lots of quilts to use through out the stay. The property was just breathtaking. I loved learning about all of her animals. We had no hiccups at all. She had everything you could possibly imagine. As well as offered small helpful things that made the trip super enjoyable. Her hospitality felt like a neighbor you never want to move and the house felt like a warm hug. That provided some much needed RNR even in the middle of doing pre and post wedding activities. I have already told mutiple people about the property. I truly hope I can visit sometime soon.

We had a lovely time staying in the cottage by the creek! The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen well-stocked with quality appliances. We enjoyed the hot tub and fishing in the creek, there was also plenty of firewood for the fire pit. Cell service in the area was spotty but WiFi in the house worked well. Would definitely stay here again!

La Casita was perfect for our needs. It’s great for a couple of small family and packs a lot into a small space. The house is well-maintained and is in a great location for events at UVA, as well as easy access to downtown Charlottesville. Laura was friendly and responsive, and provided clear instructions and useful information. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful weekend especially for my first time in VA! We were in town for the Storming of Thunder Ridge Memorial Bike Ride. Hunter went above and beyond hosting us and giving us great information about the area, where my daughter could do a warm up ride and super accommodating with her dog. The back patio was beautiful and peaceful! The neighborhood was safe and very close to town and the ride. I just wish that we could have stayed longer! We will definitely be back!

We booked Willis's guest house for my friend's birthday celebration. She wanted a laid back, relaxing weekend & that's exactly what we experienced! The hot tub was amazing. We enjoyed walking the land & seeing all the chicken. We used the full kitchen to cook a wonderful dinner. And the hosts were sooo welcoming. We felt right at home. We hope to come back soon!

My husband and I loved this little spot. It was quiet and peaceful. The property was immaculate. The bed and linens were comfortable, and I plan on purchasing the brand of towels that were in the bathroom, as they were so plush. The coffee in the kitchen was some of the best coffee we've had. We walked to the Fat Rabbit Bakery--good coffee there too. So wonderful to have a washer and dryer in the home that we took advantage of and all essentials +++ were provided. Parking out front of the property is tight, but no problem. We will absolutely book this home again when visiting Richmond!

The perfect stay. The prpperty has the most diverse back yard bird collection with various feeders scattered about. (Bluebird, northern cardinal, house sparrow, house finch, blue-grey gnatcatcher, northern rough winged swallow, goldfinch, hummingbird, and more! Pony Pasture is very close and the river offered even more birds. The screened in porch was fabulous. JD the cat did sit in my lap! The toaster oven was perfect for reheating leftovers from restaurants. The fridge was bigger than expected. Everything was in perfect condition and the hosts were gracious and friendly whenever we ran into each other in the back yard. The coffee selection was on point. A+ Highly recommend!

We had a perfect stay at the Freedom Cottage. It may have been our best Airbnb stay yet. The cottage was spotlessly clean, well thought out and very comfortable. I really enjoyed the history behind the cottage/land and the dining recommendations left in the coffee table book. The bed was incredibly comfortable which is rare when away from home. The location of the cottage was close in proximity to nearly all attractions we visited during our stay. Highly recommend Freedom Cottage to anyone visiting Williamsburg. Tara was a great host!

Very relaxing stay. Check-in with a code which is always very convenient. The bed was comfortable and the property was exactly as described. Sitting on the balcony and sipping coffee is a must. The apartment is also very close to Richmond and nearby battlefields. We highly recommend this space and would stay again.

A beautiful peaceful setting with lots of wildlife around. Christina was always very responsive whenever I asked a question or needed something. a great place to stay near to family to celebrate Thanksgiving.
