Design Cottage Close to Icelandic Countryside & Reykjavik

Step into one of the oldest homes in town, dating from 1884. Curated by the owners of the design studio Reykjavík Trading Co., The Garden Cottage has been completely remodeled to provide a unique feeling, with a lot of the furniture handmade or meticulously crafted and selected from their travels to California, Scandinavia & Mexico. The land behind The Garden Cottage is home to their designed greenhouse, communal garden, chickens and their most recent addition, The Shed which is their workshop / shop where you can visit for a coffee, buy pieces or see their process of making objects. Curated by the owners & designers of Reykjavík Trading Co. (an Icelandic / California homeware company) the Garden Cottage is their first project of creating a home space for guests to experience a unique & cozy feeling while visiting Iceland. The bottom floor of the 1884 built home has been completely remodeled for guests. Everything in the home has been either made by hand by R.T.Co. or selected from their collection of preferred products & appliances. Anthony Bacigalupo & Ýr Káradóttir, the owners of The Garden Cottage, live & work in the separate upper part of the historic home & their R.T.Co. workshop is located in the back of the garden for guests to visit, learn about the pieces being crafted, or just to have a cup of coffee. We wanted to create a place for guests to experience "slow living" & create a special stay. Having designed spaces for hotels, cafes, bars we decided to put our inspiration & collection into this project & build something completely one-of-a-kind in Iceland. Our registration number is HG-00003324 Our guests have the whole bottom house to themselves, with a selection of curated magazines, books & products from R.T.Co. & other designers. The home was built in 1884 & we have been remodeling & bringing back the style it once was but also bringing back the garden & farm style that was once so prominent back in the day. We believe in hospitality to the fullest which sadly doesn't exist anymore in places. Since we live on the property we can answer any questions you have or have you in for a coffee if you need help deciding your journey in Iceland. The cottage is in the oldest part of Hafnarfjörður, a small harbor town. There are great farm-to-table restaurants, bakeries, live music, artist studios and swimming pools nearby. It’s conveniently located across the road from the town’s bus terminal. The house has three stories but is broken into two flats- we live on the upper floors with our children with separate driveway and front door- but we are here for anything you need or to have a coffee in the greenhouse! Our little town can be easily walked around & explored. Shuttle stops for airport & Blue Lagoon are 3 minutes walk next to the ocean & the bus terminal into Reykjavík is close as well.

Eco-friendly studio apartment

The apartment is in a building that is being built to the standards of the Swan. This means that material selection is based on causing the least amount of damage to the environment and the health of people. It is also attempted to minimize the carbon footprint of the house on a fermeter. There is good transportation in the area, but bus number 1 stops 500 m from the property. The bungalow in which the apartment is located, is still under construction. There will be no work in the house when guests are in the apartment.

Newly renovated (2023) apartment in the capital area in a pleasant and quiet environment with a great view. Fun hikes in the nature of Iceland right next door. Apartment is a 30-minute drive from Keflavik Airport and 20 minutes from downtown Reykjavik. The centre of Hafnarfjörður is a 10 minute walk from an apartment where you can find, among others, cafes, shops and bakeries. Free parking at the house. the apartment is heated. North Bridge - nice studio apartment in quiet area

This property is located in the historical part of Hafnarfjordur, in a calm residential area which is less than 10-min walking distance to the city center of Hafnarfjordur. The neighborhood has a unique charm where traditional Icelandic houses have gotten to maintain their original charm encapsulated in lava fields. Staying here you truly get to be one of the locals, tucked away from the more touristy areas. The area gives you a opportunity to view and live amongst some of the oldest buildings.

Our luxurious home with 360 aurora views is located in an exquisite nature park on the outskirts of Reykjavík. It has a well stocked kitchen, elegant furniture, a beautiful bathroom and comfortable new beds, one king and one queen. The third room is open with one single bed land beautiful views. Surrounding the property is a beautiful moss garden with a deck that offers spectacular views on the nature park, lots of hikes, a romantic lake and nearby new Fagradalsfjall volcano and Blue Lagoon.

Cozy family home!

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay with a volcanic view. In the nearest area you have discount store, gas station, swimming pools, playgrounds as well as nature areas. It is also close to the airport, Blue Lagoon, Hafnarfjörður town and Reykjavik. A family of 4 lives here, 2 adults, a 8 year old girl and 5 year old boy. During our visit to Iceland, we stayed at multiple Airbnb locations and by far this was the best home. we felt right at home! Excellent location (proximity to city) and nice neighborhood. Apartment had all the amenities as described. We enjoyed the family room (Girls watched movie) and kitchen (complements from my wife). Kitchen had all the things that we needed to make quick meal and breakfast. We loved the book collection and enjoyed browsing few of them.

We enjoyed our visit to Edvard's place the best out of all of the places we stayed in Iceland (including some fine hotels). The house is lovely, immaculately clean, and has so many clever touches that reflect what interesting people the hosts must be. It was very comfortable, and we were sad to leave after our brief stay. Should we return to Iceland any time soon, we would easily come back to this lovely home!

The most perfect place to stay on our first stop travelling around Iceland. Excellent location close to shops, cafes, sights but also so peaceful. A beautiful home which was more spacious than I expected and with everything you could need. Highly recommend.

The apartment was exactly as described—very stylish with modern decor and a welcoming, homey feel. We especially appreciated the spacious bathroom, which included both a washing machine and dryer—super convenient for a longer stay. The layout of the space was well thought out and made us feel right at home. The only downside was that the bed in the second bedroom was a bit small for two people to sleep comfortably. Other than that, it was a great place and we’d definitely recommend it!
