Family-friendly holiday rentals in West Stockbridge

Three adults and a toddler spent four great days at Myrhah’s house in Craryville. I have very little to add to all the other enthusiastically positive reviews. They are totally accurate.I will note that one of us is a pastry chef who was at home in Myrhah’s kitchen. It’s stocked with quite a few good baking tools. Another member of our group is a 19-month old toddler who loved the toys and big airy spaces for play. We all enjoyed the home’s aesthetic and appreciated Myrhah’s responsiveness and warmth. I wished we could have stayed longer.

What a gorgeous stay. My partner and I celebrated our five year anniversary here and each detail was perfect. The home is wonderfully curated, with stunning art, decor, puzzles, plates, you name it! And by the window, the feeders attract all kinds of birds that I’ve never seen so up close. Woodpeckers, cardinals, chickadees. You hardly need the TV, it’s so entertaining. The place is spotless and serene. And Rosy is so responsive while giving you complete privacy! You can tell she really cares about the experience she provides. If you’re looking to stay in an artfully cozy home, this is the place.

We had a great and easy stay for a quick upstate weekend! The house was clean, cute, and accommodated our family of 7. We unfortunately didn’t get to utilize the outdoors because of the weather. Would definitely recommend this house!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Wilderkill Barn. Maria Cristina and William were exceptional hosts—warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our visit special. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The home was a haven, with a hot tub, sauna, pool, fire pit, pool table, and immersive sound and movie systems—all of which made our stay delightful despite the cold, dreary May weather. We can't thank them enough. ***That said, we feel it's necessary to address a serious issue with Airbnb itself that arose while booking this property, unrelated to the property itself. An unexpected tax was added after booking, and Airbnb has yet to provide a clear explanation. After years of loyalty, we were disappointed by their evasive and unhelpful customer support. This experience has made us reconsider using the platform in the future. We urge potential users to scrutinize all fees carefully and be aware that Airbnb’s support may be difficult to navigate if problems arise.***

Choosing to stay in Porter's container cabin was the best decision we could have made for our vacation. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We had daily visits from a beautiful deer, and countless butterflies. We chose to use this time to unplug, and really connect with each other, and we could not have chosen a better place to spend our time. We've missed the view from the front door every day since we've left, and we're already planning to come back next year. Thank you so much for having us.

Three friends met at this beautiful carriage house with the feel of a French chalet! We stayed two nights with varied weather conditions. The house, grounds and location was perfect. Hot tub was used and so relaxing. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. The host, Diane was very helpful and friendly. What host makes scones each morning and delivers them warm?! Visited the Ashokan Reservoir trail, Opus 40, and Woodstock. Recommend this home highly. You won’t be disappointed!

Really nothing negative to say. We appreciate all extra personal touch the hosts left for us. I wish all ABNB locations had the same care and attention to detail for their guests.

We loved staying at Anat’s gorgeous home. We’ve been in many spots in the HRV and even Columbia County, but this stood out for being so tranquil and for having such lovely grounds. We enjoyed the Copake Hillsdale Farmers Market and a great meals at Local 111 and Zinneas. Cooking at the house was a breeze and there were more than enough beds and living spaces for our two families to feel so comfortable. Hot tub was lovely! We can’t wait to return.

We were very comfortable at King’s Cottage. We had everything we needed. It was so quiet, private, comfortable and well appointed. Messages from the host were friendly and helpful. Great stay in a beautiful spot!

The best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed at! It truly felt like home—every detail was so thoughtfully taken care of. You have everything you need for a comfortable stay, from a well-stocked space to those little touches that make a big difference. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, and even though it rained, the hosts had dry firewood ready for the fireplace, which made it feel extra warm and inviting. We loved sitting by the lake and even saw a fish jump out of the water—such a magical moment! Communication with the host was excellent from start to finish. And thank you so much for approving our cats to stay with us—it meant the world. If we could give 10 stars, we absolutely would. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and welcoming getaway. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

The guesthouse was so dreamy! We had a wonderful stay, the hosts were super friendly, and we loved meeting their sweet dogs. The house was close to great restaurants and shops in Hudson, Kinderhook, and Ghent, as well as hiking trails. The lovely trail on the property was a great bonus, one we took advantage of 4 times throughout the weekend :). Would definitely visit again!

Our party of four adults and two small kids really enjoyed our weekend in this unique and tastefully renovated former barn. The linens, bedding, and towels were all top quality, the kitchen was well equipped, and overall the place was comfortable and spotless. The location is super private and quiet, surrounded by nature and farmland, including an on-site stream and sheep (that's not a typo). A great spot to stay for a visit to the northern Berkshires - Mt. Greylock and Mass MoCA are very nearby. Our visit was on a frigid winter weekend with a ton of snow and outside temps in the 20s, yet our indoor temps were toasty and very comfortable, especially with the wood stove.

Staying at Will and Aenne's barn house was fun and wholesome. I enjoyed saying hello to the animals and the jungle shower most of all. The barn has everything one needs. Though, I must say I was very intimidated by having to light the chef's stove. We walked from the barn to the waterfall down town which was beautiful--great place to hang out and swim in the warmer months. The village of Kinderhook is adorable with quaint little shops. Hudson city had some of the best food I've had in a long time; I strongly recommend eating at Cafe Mutton. Overall, Will and Aenne were very hands-off hosts--as in, they gave us our space and privacy--while still being responsive and attentive. Thank you for the stay! I hope to come back again!

The airbnb was close to town. The house was very clean and comfortable.

I had a wonderful stay at Laura’s place. The home is not only beautiful but thoughtfully constructed. Its exposed wood frame feels so natural and adds to the calming atmosphere. The backyard was clean, maintained, and offered a serene space to relax. Laura’s instructions were clear and made finding and settling into the house easy. The bedrooms and bathrooms were incredibly cozy and well-kept. Every detail made the space feel warm and welcoming. It’s also a fantastic spot for groups. Our group of six friends fit very comfortably, with plenty of space to relax and unwind. I’d absolutely recommend this home to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable getaway.

Bobby was the ultimate host in every way. I felt so relaxed and comfortable in his home that I extended my stay for another week and have already booked for a future stay. The home is beautiful, full of original art, cozy and perfectly suited for a quiet getaway yet close enough to Hudson, Kinderhook and Catskill. The house gets beautiful morning light and I found it very relaxing having my morning coffee on the sun porch. The flowers and trees were just starting to bloom in the garden - making it the perfect canopy for my guests and I to have an early evening cocktail before heading into town for dinner. Very much looking forward to returning in a few months!

Cute house, open concept first floor was great for a weekend with our girlfriends! Hava was very responsive and kind!

We had a magical weekend away and our stay was everything we hoped it would be, and more. Olia was incredibly responsive, friendly, and all around wonderful to connect with. The house was a magical time capsule holding the best of energy and a glimpse into the 70s - so fun. The pool and patio were awesome, with open and friendly spaces inside too, all made for the best of entertaining spaces. We could not have asked for a better weekend away, and we cannot wait to plan our next trip! Thank you!

This is our fifth year coming to the farm. Larissa is absolutely masterful with kids of all ages (even tough kids). My daughter races out at 9 am to do farm chores and begs for more (and this is a kid who drags her feet doing chores at home)!! We love the rhythm of farm and find it really easy to disconnect and unwind. After chores in the morning, you're welcome to spend as much time as you want with the animals, which is a real treat. Whether it's feeding the horses hay, sharing food scraps with the goats, or watching the chickens do their evening routine, there's so much to enjoy. The local towns are lovely, but if you like the farm experience, you may never leave the property. Larissa is incredibly knowledgeable and generous in sharing her experience and expertise. She has created an absolutely magical environment, and I would highly recommend visiting!!

My group loved our stay at Alan and Cara’s place for the Sheep & Wool festival. Great space for a large group; we especially loved how comfortable the living room couches were and how there was space for everyone there to gather. The place was immaculately clean. We’d love to come back again!

We had a great time at Saugerties! Rebecca's house was wonderful. The heated pool and the trampoline were the kids' favorite and they kept them entertained all day. The adults enjoyed the shade under the comfy pool lounge chairs & the spacious deck furniture. The backyard of the house was well kept and equipped so we spent a lot of time outside. The house is very well equipped and it was spacious for 2 families of 4. Everything was functioning well. The house is close to downtown and there are plenty of things to do nearby. Host was super quick to respond back and to help with whatever we needed right away. We def recommend Rebecca's house.

Our second time staying at Maitopia with our cat, just as wonderful in a different warmer season. Tina was super responsive as usual and even accommodated a late checkout. We enjoyed feasting in the kitchen as well as grilling in the yard, floating around in the pool when it was warm enough out, "hiking" with our cat on a leash around the forest on the property, taking baths, streaming music. We didn't leave the property much, but it was a fun highlight to get a few local produce items at nearby Greig farm and meet the adorable goats. One tip- bring an eyemask if you're sensitive to light in the mornings- there aren't any window shades in the bedroom.

We had a great stay at the Hollywood Bungalow. House was described accurately and had so many thoughtful touches to make us feel welcome. Diana met us upon arrival and walked us around the property and the house. Such a great host! She had generously provided snacks, treats and gave a thorough overview for our stay. We were primarily focused on skiing at Jiminy Peak which was a short 20 minute drive. We also brought our 5 year-old rescue who had the best vacation of her life. She was able to use the fenced-in backyard to run around off leash and even meet a new friend when Jackson's dog visited. Diana even shoveled walking paths in the yard throughout our stay so we could get around in the high snow. The Screening Room is awesome and provided hours of entertainment. Quiet street and picturesque location. We will definitely return.

We loved this cute studio cabin at the end of a quiet lane in the woods. The host was accommodating and left a welcome basket with tea & muffins for our arrival. The whole unit was clean and well maintained with basic equipment for cooking. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda watching the wildlife. Convenient location for Woodstock for coffee and food, & Ashokan reservoir for walking and cycling. There were a few potholes on the access road to the property which deer use to drink from (☺️). We loved that the cabin was bug free and did not have any trace of bug spray! (We get very bad reactions to that stuff). Thank you for hosting & being respive. Recommend for a weekend 👍🏼
