A kind, spacious house away from the hustle and bustle on the shore of the lake. 2 saunas (one in the house, one on the shore, but quite untidy). Luxurious view from the windows, good patio/terrace, large and well-maintained area nearby. A great place to connect with nature, about 10 km to the nearest supermarket. The disadvantages are - unacceptable tap water for drinking (only bring your own!), due to the high iron content, all plumbing looks extremely untidy. More than a meager BBQ area - 2 dirty chairs and a barbecue are very old, tiny and killed by life (there is also gas from the hosts, but without gas), and clearly brought by tourists. There are logs, but no axe. Nevertheless, the owners are very pleasant and friendly people, and if you take into account all the disadvantages and prepare for them in advance - you will have a great time. If you're out for modern pampering, this is not for you.But if you want ti be alone by the lake, without a shower and regular toilet, but wit a row boat, wood fired sauna and hot tub, compost toilets (but also electricity, full kitchen, cellular coverage and tv) and most if all the amazing beauty around (incl. mosquitoes) memorable, then definitely go fir it. we had a wonderful time.

Very beautiful and secluded place with a good sauna and right by the lake. The cottage was just the right size for two and met all the needs.

I had the most lovely few days at the White House in Parikkala. David is an extremely kind, helpful and attentive host, who ferried me to and from the station, was always on hand to help with any questions I had and even rescued me when I got stranded out on the lake in his boat! The house is spacious, very comfortable and well kept, and the area is full of exciting things to explore for anyone who loves nature! I would highly recommend a stay here.
