Holiday rentals with lake access in Scottish Borders

We had a lovely stay here for the weekend. Marcin was very helpful anytime we had a question for him.

A beautiful property, generally well equipped but could do with some champagne glasses

Leadburn ist ein wundervoller Ort in der Nähe von Edinburgh. Die Ankunft war durch die gute Wegbeschreibung unkompliziert, und die etwas versteckte Lage des Hauses ist schlicht großartig. Theresa hat uns sehr nett empfangen, und in dem schönen, großzügig dimensionierten Haus mit einer auch für eine große Gruppe vollständig ausgestatteter Küche haben wir uns wirklich wohlgefühlt; für uns (4 Personen) war das Platzangebot schlicht luxuriös. Die Lage an einem kleinen Gewässer ist wunderbar, so dass man versucht ist, gar nicht erst nach Edinburgh (oder in andere Gegenden) zu fahren, sondern nur die unmittelbare Umgebung zu genießen und zu erkunden. Alles in allem eine große Empfehlung, wenn man ein paar Tage in der Nähe von Edinburgh und zugleich in einer - im positiven Sinne - abgeschiedenen Lage inmitten der Natur verbringen möchte!

Beautiful cottage, met by hosts on arrival, would love to stay again

We have been coming to this site for many years and seen many changes, some good, some not so. As regular visitors we have stayed in other caravans on the site but this one was much better than others. The quality of the sofa bed in the lounge is amazing, so comfortable and perfect for the space, also incredibly easy to convert from sofa to bed. The mattresses on the beds in the rooms were of a higher quality and much thicker than others we have experienced in caravans here. Having Wifi was great as we were visiting during colder months so lovely to cosy up to watch movies. Even though it was -3 at one point during our stay we were always lovely and warm. I will look to book this caravan again, it really does have that little bit extra to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. The view over the lake is also an added bonus. Watching the sun rise through the trees was magical, especially after being so lucky seeing the northern lights too! Thank you for having us xx

What can i say, we have just come home from a week at the tibbie shiels caravan and i feel claustrophobic. The view and the area is completely stunning. The caravan is exactly as shown and described (slightly dated, but homely and usable) (i also wouldnt want a bright white sterile place to stay when you have the loch and hills to come back from). Alistair and Eleanor were so friendly and helpful throughout our stay and nothing was too much, even when they were fully booked with campers. The private little garden and gated area are just gorgeous next to the river facing st marys loch. We have stayed on site and travelled around the nearby towns and beauty spots. Weve had an amazing time....bring waterproofs. There were 2 adults, 2 big teenage lads, 2 kids and our dogs....it was a squeeze but we managed!! We will be back and we cant wait for the next adventure around the area! Thank you!

A brilliant home to spend time in. Very spacious, comfortable and homely living space with a strong connection to the outdoors. Kitchen, bathrooms, living room and bedrooms had all the essential amenities, appliances, furniture and equipment to have an enjoyable stay. Some lovely extras (butter, bread, homemade marmalade, tray bakes) also provided. Seb is a great host: good communicator, friendly, and accommodating. Nice area. Close to the vibrancy of Edinburgh, but also tucked away in among quiet/peaceful countryside and quaint villages

we have stayed in a lot of Airbnbs, and this was the best one yet. Words cannot describe how incredible the house and location are. It is very remote, has incredible surroundings and the house itself is stunning. It has every amenity you could want, a brilliant kitchen (X2!), lots of fun games available too. Communication from the lovely host was fantastic and they were so flexible with us. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you are thinking of staying here, do not hesitate!! Salma’s place is gorgeous, clean, and perfect for exploring Edinburgh. She’s a lovely and responsive host. Would recommend to anyone!

What a wonderful find! Our stay couldn’t have been more straightforward and comfortable and being on the estate was idyllic. Do explore the grounds or you’ll miss out - I think our young girls discovered their enchanted woods! Thank you, Gwen.

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit im Apartment. Die Bahn ist nur wenige Fußminuten entfernt. Ebenso ist auch ein Supermarkt (24/7 geöffnet) in der Nähe und von dort aus gibt es auch die Möglichkeit mit Bussen in die Stadt zu fahren. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Salma was a great host, made everything very simple and gave us clear instructions for everything. Communication was great throughout the whole process and would highly recommend for anyone staying I Edinburgh!

So cool being the first guest of Leyla’s! The place was absolutely beautiful and spacious for being in such a perfect part of Edinburgh. My group truly felt at home and had everything we needed. Just a very cozy place! Communication from Leyla and Selma was fantastic too. Very kind and quick. Highly highly recommend!

Highly Recommend! Beautiful, well equipped cottage. It has been renovated to a very high standard. Kate, was an excellent host and very responsive. In the middle of a working sheep farm, sheep everywhere, so you must be able to control your dogs at all times. A beautiful break away from Wifi, phones and people. All shops about 16/18 miles away. A lovely place to reconnect and recharge. Thank you for having us, would love to come back soon ☺️

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage, it was a lovely cottage with everything we could possibly have needed. Everything was good quality and it was a joy to stay in. The area was stunning and peaceful, can't wait to come back!

Amazing place. Adored the inside, both because of how beautiful it is but also how well kitchen and bathrooms are equipped. Back yard is stunning! We loved spending hours there getting acquainted with the cows :) Could not recommend it more!

What a beautiful spot! Very quiet. We all slept very well! Wish we could have stayed longer to appreciate the beautiful surroundings. It is a little remote so if you don’t have a car (which we didn’t) may end up being a little expensive going in and out of Edinburgh, but we always got an Uber when we wanted one. Perfect for walkers and cyclists. Wish we had time to explore the area more. We may be back! Thanks, Kerry!

This is without a doubt the most beautiful air BnB we have ever stayed in. It was utterly stunning. Incredibly beautiful interiors, super comfortable bed, heavenly hot tub and external space. We had the most magical weekend there relaxing in such peaceful and private surroundings. Don’t even give it a second thought. Just book.

Wir waren für 10 Tage in John‘s Ferienhaus, um Südschottland und die Gegend um Edinburgh kennenzulernen. Schon bevor wir ankamen, gab es ein Problem mit dem Mietwagen. Zum Glück hatten wir John als Gastgeber, der uns äußerst hilfsbereit unterstützte. Das Ferienhaus ist auf einem Bauernhof, es ist ruhig dort, das Haus selbst ist wunderschön eingerichtet, viel großzügiger als auf den Fotos, und es gibt alles, was man braucht, um sich wohlfühlen zu können. Manchmal haben wir uns schon Regen gewünscht, um nichts unternehmen zu müssen und ohne Sorge etwas zu versäumen, einen Tag mit Lesen am Kamin verbringen zu können. Die umgebende Landschaft ist geprägt von hügligen Schafweiden. In 10-minütiger Entfernung ist Galashiels, eine kleine Stadt mit Bahnanschluss nach Edinburgh, in der man Einkaufen und Essengehen kann. Von John‘s Unterkunft aus bieten sich Ausflüge nach Edinburgh, zu Seen, zur Ostküste Schottlands und zu den vielen kleinen Städtchen in Südschottland an.

We stayed 5 nights the end of May when all the flowering shrubs were in bloom. Its was truly a beautiful scene. We liked the quiet nature for walks on the property. We did some cycling trips from there also using the local train and cycle shop rental. The kitchen was great though we didn’t cook much. The local golf course had great food(vegan too) so we ate there several times. Everyone was so friendly in West Calder. We enjoyed a cosey fire one night. Nicola was very friendly, quick to respond for small stuff she rectified. I would love to return.

Me and my partner stayed here for 5 nights, every single night was the best! We didn't do much walking, as we stayed in the house a lot of the time as we wanted to have a relaxing 5 days cooking and baking together/watching films. However, there is areas around to go on walks. Max was really responsive and great with recommending what to do if you are stuck for ideas! it was extremely peaceful and quiet every day and night! Thank you :)
