Villa holiday rentals in San José Province

We were staying at a nearby Airbnb when it lost power. I found Lizette’s place and messaged asking if they had power. She was quick to respond that they did. Their self check in option made our emergency last minute check in a breeze. Any time we needed something she was so quick to respond. The place itself is in an insanely gorgeous location. It’s a gated community and very safe. Beautiful sunrises/sunsets overlooking the ocean. We saw coati and iguanas. The place was incredibly clean. Like immaculate, really. It’s nearby to everything you need, about 3 minutes to town. Could not recommend this place enough it was an absolutely dream!

Had a great stay at the beautiful home with a great pool. We had everything we needed in kitchen to make a great breakfast for our group. Enjoyed relaxing by the pool and the washer and dryer were perfect to do laundry since we packed lightly. While outside we were approached by a few homeless people asking for handouts but once we were stern we had no issues. It was a great place to come back to after visiting family in the city. We would highly recommend for future visits.

You won't want to leave the spacious villa. The garden is full of plants and is frequently visited by wildlife. Katrin is super helpful. She surprised us with a fresh soursop when we couldn't find any in the store.

Villa Temenos is simply fantastic! We had the most wonderful stay. Truly so peaceful and beautiful, with toucans and macaws stopping by in the trees outside to say hello. Henry, the caretaker, is the friendliest and kindest person around. It was truly the best trip to relax & unwind within nature. The location to town is great and super easy to run in and out for groceries or to grab a bite to eat. The outdoor living space truly makes the villa! My husband and I kept commenting on how we’d never spent so much time outside on a trip and we loved it! We were there during the start of the green season so were able to have perfect mornings and afternoons then hangout under the covered area to listen to the evening rain and storms. Dean was responsive, hospitable, and provided the most helpful home guide. Truly appreciated! We can’t wait to return. Pura vida!

Two words “ absolutely breathtaking”! I think that pretty much sums up this place. The Host and his team were all super helpful. The property is located on top of a Mountain with INCREDIBLE views. You get a full on view of the tail once the tide recedes. The place was extremely modern and clean. I absolutely loved every piece of decor throughout the villa. I would recommend this place over and over again, to everybody. One thing I would recommend, is that you take the hosts’ advice and stop at the Supermarket at the foot of the mountain before going up. It’s a good 20mins just to get back down for some water😂

We had a wonderful time! Everything was exactly as described! Those views are AMAZING!! Lovely house, had everything we needed.

the house was BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLL the scenery was amazing! Roberto was a great host and was very responsive and addressed all my questions & concerns. The chef he recommended was also great, food was good! Only 2 cons bugs inside the home but that’s not their faults, we understand it came with the area and the front door was locked our whole stay (we entered the house through the back sliding door) But no biggie! I still enjoyed my stay and would recommend Roberto’s house 100%.

Lorna and Frank are great hosts. House is beautiful on the side of the hill right in the tropical forest. You have your private Toucans who welcome you every morning on the Papaya tree next to the pool. Views are stunning especially early morning (6am). We loved that house is very bright, so we could spot every little bug that decided to visit us. Extremely clean. Besides toucans there is plenty to watch. No spoilers here. YES you need 4 wheel drive car. Especially in the rainy season. YES you really need it. Can you make it with 2wd? You can when it’s dry. But after rain you won’t make it up the hill. Bring the binoculars. Yes you need them. Good flashlight might be useful as well. Pretty frequent, but usually short power outages. Dominical beach is not that great - but Uvita and Manuel Antonio are both stunning. Do the Rainmaker, you won’t regret a dime. On the way up to Platanillo the first fruit stand on the right is great and with local prices. We had wonderful time!

I have rented houses in the Dominical/ Uvita/ Ojochal over a dozen times and Roberto and Diana's place has been my favorite by far. Not only is the property extremely unique in it's design and layout, it's amenities, location and incredible view is unmatched. Typically speaking, in this area of Costa Rica, a house with a view this amazing will require a 10 - 15 minute drive up hill. This house is a 5 minute drive from so much and within 20 minutes of everything we wanted to do. This made traveling with kids so easy and allowed us to really explore the area while also relaxing at the house often. This house is more than worth it, especially for the reasonable nightly rate in comparison to similar properties. Pura Vida 🌴

Eduardo's home feels like you are staying at a luxurious estate owned by a friend who has told you to come relax for a few days or a week while he is away on business. The home is elegant but comfortable and if there is anything you need, all you have to do is ask—Eduardo is always available and responsive to messages. Paola, the onsite housekeeper, is a wonderful resource, and an important part of the experience. She will greet you upon your arrival, explain how to access the property, help you with any laundry you need, provide daily maid service in your bedrooms, and help you prepare meals (all you have to do is buy the food/ingredients). If you don't speak Spanish, have your Google Translate app. ready, as Paola is a whiz at communicating with messages translated on her phone. There are great restaurants and shops nearby. We stayed in three different homes during our recent 9 day vacation in Costa Rica and this home was our favorite.

I have stayed in dozens of Airbnbs around the world and this one was absolutely immaculate and quite possibly my favorite. The property itself has been curated with deep intention and an artistic eye. It was the first time I have ever stayed in an Airbnb that truly exceeded the expectations portrayed in the already beautiful photos. The views are some of the best I’ve ever seen, the house is stunning and impressive and brought together with a truly designer flair to it. Every detail was thoughtful and of quality. Pascal and Virginie were wonderful hosts and the home cooked breakfast they offer is phenomenal and as gorgeously prepared with the same attention to detail that the property boasts. I will be retuning and recommending this property to friends as family as well!

We've rented a lot of whole house AirBnB's and vacation homes over the years and lots have been lovely, but this was one of the best stays we've ever had. The property is exquisite. The setting is private and beautiful, with views out to the ocean through the canopy. The build quality, attention to detail and material selection were so tastefully done, we especially loved the balinese style pool with zero edge volcanic surround and unfinished stone bottom. The location is perfect, half way between Dominical and Uvita, so you can access both easily and the parks are a short drive away. There are a couple of great restaurants and a little market within walking distance that we frequented. The concierge, cleaning people and private chefs really set the experience apart. All were incredibly professional and made our stay 5 star. Managing something like this in such a remote place is challenging and Giovanna and her team have gone above and beyond. Book it. It's the only place to stay.

We loved the house , the space, the pool and even the surroundings in the house floor and the downstairs that has a lot to explore. Mafe ( Maria ) was an amazing host and always there to help and respond anything we needed. She helped accommodate us the best possible for any needs needed . We loved that each room had a bathroom , plus two more in the house overall. We loved the lady who cooked and also takes care of the house . Her name is Gloria and she truly made our stay feel like HOME. Her cooking is amazing and she does it with love. She was truly one of our favorites part of the stay. The location was good and even had a spot nearby with different spots to try different food . We truly enjoyed this Airbnb to the max. Gloria makes the home feel like home and Mafe made us feel at home in Costa Rica.

This place is amazing. The views are spectacular! Jorge showed us around as soon as we arrived and was very informative. We saw Toucans from the pool area and heard the Howling Monkeys early in the morning. You will need a 4x4 to get up to the house, the road can difficult if it's raining. The bedrooms have A/C, but the main area with the kitchen does not. Because of this you will need to open the doors completely and this does cause bugs to be attracted to the lights in the house especially at night. It would have been nice to be able to close the screen to prevent spiders and flying bugs inside the house, but it was locked. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels and a washer and dryer if needed. The pool was too cold for us to get into, but that would have been an amazing experience as well. Just FYI, they have cameras around the entire outside. Front and back, so when you are outside enjoying the views they will have access to the area.

Our stay was magical. The house absolutely exceeded expectations from the minute we arrived. The view was spectacular, the pool was beautiful, the beds were comfortable and the decor was comfortable and inviting. A 10 out of 10!

This home is absolutely magical! Perched atop a mountain, it offers sweeping panoramic views of the ocean and the iconic Whale’s Tail beach—truly one of the most breathtaking views we’ve ever seen. Surrounded by treetops, we were treated to daily visits from howler monkeys, toucans, and other vibrant bird species, making the experience feel like a luxury treehouse retreat. The house itself is beautifully designed and fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The negative edge pool is a showstopper—floating there while taking in the endless ocean view was unforgettable. What truly sets this property apart is the host. Incredibly helpful and attentive, he provided concierge-level service, arranging our transportation to and from the airport, a rental car delivered right to the house, and even a private chef who cooked us some amazing meals. We could not have asked for more a better experience.

We didn't want this vacation to end! This place was so beautiful and quiet. The pool, bar and outdoor kitchen were perfect. So well designed. We had everything we needed. We enjoyed walking the grounds and picking up fresh mangoes, coconuts, limes, starfruit and bananas. The wonderful scent of the ylang ylang trees was everywhere. Absolutely amazing. The house was spacious and we loved the doors of every room and the beautiful arched windows. Great architecture! The towels smelt fresh and were of great quality. The welcome book was truly helpful. Any question we had - the answer was in there. Very well done! One week was just not enough.

Beautiful property, everything very clean, utensils, furniture and beds more than enough for the 7 of us to be absolutely comfortable. The beautiful pool and the pool ranch perfectly equipped for a large group.

Beautiful traditional home in a central part of San Jose. Close to the airport and car rentals. We loved the peaceful gardens, private and secured neighborhood. Home has plenty of spacious rooms. However, not all rooms have AC units. Nonetheless, home is fresh and well ventilated with celling fans. We loved having a quick stop in SJ here! Highly recommended

Really special place!! The views are incredible and we saw so much wildlife from our beautiful wrap-around deck and the pool area, including monkeys, scarlet macaws and agoutis. Loved the privacy and serenity of the villa, but was a short walk to the Mariposa hotel. Would definitely stay here again!!

Our stay at this stunning home was nothing short of PERFECT! A huge thank you to Daniela, our incredible host, who went above and beyond to make our trip seamless. She graciously allowed our big crew (all 19 of us—kids included!) to check in early after our drive from Jaco and even helped coordinate airport transportation. Talk about hospitality! The house itself is absolute DREAMS—spacious, beautifully designed, and surrounded by breathtaking views that had us all swooning. We had more than enough room to spread out, cook family feasts in the fully equipped kitchen, and grill dinners under the stars. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. From morning coffees on the patio to late-night laughs in the living areas, every moment here felt magical. We’re already counting down the days until we can return! Thank you, Daniela and team, for a 5-star experience we’ll never forget! 🌟

This was our third trip to Costa Rica and this house did not disappoint. It is about a 15 min drive up the mountain to the home but the view is worth it without a doubt. You are surrounded by nature and amazing views of the ocean. The power does occasionally go out due to bad storms but they have a solar backup which helps keep most things running. The longest stretch without was only for a few hours but the solar backup powers most things. With that said, I’d still absolutely recommend this home. The resident sloth on property was always so fun to see. We also saw many birds including toucans. The views of the ocean are unreal. The kitchen is so well-equipped and the outdoor kitchen was so nice to cook dinners at. You also feel very secure as the home is gated. Showering in the master outdoor shower is a real treat. You feel like you’re just standing in the middle of the rainforest. All in all, would recommend this home.

I thought I was just booking a place to stay, but to my surprise this was way more than I expected…in an amazing way! Traveling all the way to Costa Rica and being in charge of planning the trip for a group of 12 guys for a bachelor party trip seemed daunting, until the host helped me plan an incredible four days! Not only was the house absolutely incredible in every way, the concierge made sure we were well taken care of during the trip answering all my questions and coordinating everything. We opted for the all inclusive private chef and that was hands down one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. Chef Luis was so friendly, and the food was world class. The host helped book and set up adventures for each day and truly made this the trip of a lifetime. I cannot recommend this place and the host enough.
