Kevin and Heather's place was homely, spacious, well equipped and very clean, with lovely bedding. It was perfect for all our needs. Heather was very welcoming , warm and accomodating. Situated in the mountains it was a very good position to access Franz Josef, Okarito and the West coast. We highly recommend this airbnb and would love to stay again.

We love Kotuku Cottage! The house was so lovely—warm, homey, and so unique! We especially loved the driftwood touches throughout. The location was perfect for outdoor activities minus crowds. Just a few minutes walk to the beach and nearby trailheads. We had an incredible time hiking the Okarito Pack Track and the Coastal Walk. The views of the mountain range and coastline were stunning. Also, clear night skies provided breathtaking views of the Milky Way! The Cottage is well-prepped for guests, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, (easy to prepare meals) and no tv – which for us, was perfect. Quick note: be sure to bring all your food/drink supplies with you. The nearest stores are in Franz Josef, and they’re quite limited and pricey. Judith was a fantastic host—very accommodating and responsive. She provided helpful info ahead of time about possible road closures, assisted with a later checkout, and quickly answered any questions we had. Highly recommend!

Gibbs’ guesthouse is absolute perfection. From the incredible vistas, to the outdoor bath (!!), fireplace, and sumptuous linens, it is a gem and one we will long remember. We had the pleasure of staying here for three nights in mid-June. We were lucky for incredible weather for the most (morning frosts, crisp, sunny days, and cosy, clear nights against a backdrop of incredible stars); using that to our advantage, we flew up to the glacier for a morning on the ice, and used the guesthouse as a fabulous base for other hikes around the area. For one of the days, we were cosy inside with the fire burning and playing many of the games in the cupboards. Perfect relaxation! The guesthouse is appointed beautifully, and Sarah (our host) very responsive and warm in her communication. It’s very easy to find, and just far enough out of town to be very quiet and relaxing. Do yourselves a favour, and book a stay here. You’ll not regret it!

Lovely stay in a secluded farm setting close to Franz Josef Glacier. The house had plenty of thoughtful personal touches and was surrounded by beautiful scenery — very peaceful and enjoyable. It did feel a bit isolated at times, and the power outage around 11pm for about an hour was a bit unsettling. But overall, it was a unique and memorable experience, and we really enjoyed our time there.
