Farmstay holiday rentals in New River Valley

This was the most relaxing, peaceful and carefree weekend we have ever had. My husband and our 2 kids and 2 dogs had the most fun, and we didn’t even feel the need to be on our phones or watch tv! The cabin felt like home; so much so, that we didn’t want to leave. My husband and I are already planning a trip back. Carey was an amazing hostess and we are so appreciative that she opened her home to us. The views were breathtaking. We literally sat outside all weekend. We only went inside to cook and sleep. Oh! And we got to enjoy a meteor shower Saturday night! Super awesome!! And, even cooler, there’s a dollar general market at the end of the main road! Coolest thing I’ve ever seen! So you don’t need to bring a bunch of food! We drove 5 hours to come stay here, and honestly, I would drive 10 just to come back. This cabin was every bit of home and we can’t wait to come back!

This was the perfect place to relax and and unwind after an eventful day of commencement at Liberty University. My family and I loved all aspects of this amazingly-renovated barn. The property was absolutely stunning! So much to explore. We hope to come back for a longer stay in the future. Thank you Nicole for being a great host!

Very nice. Antiques. Front porch with swing, loveseat, table & chairs. Enjoyed several meals on front porch. House well supplied with pillows, blankets & towels. We cooked our meals onsite. Kitchen had dishes, pans, utensils, spices, everything we needed to prepare the food we brought in. Very peaceful. Beautiful. We plan to to be return guests. Recommending to others. Enjoyable stay. Warren's place was great - very cozy, clean, & comfortable! Communication was good with the host & check-in was easy with a keypad. Only issue we had was that it was a little tricky to find. Warren sent directions, but the road is easy to overlook & we missed it the first time around!

This cabin was beautiful! It was private and getting away from the world by having no internet was what we needed! The host was very knowledgeable in and I loved learning all about its history.

This is a hidden gem. I am so glad I found this, really because it’s close to a friend of mines house. I enjoy peaceful, low people places and clean air and surroundings. The best is making coffee, and sitting outside on the porch. Heck! I need to go back, and stay longer. And the animals.

We’ve stayed at Mark of Design many times! We enjoy the beautiful & peaceful setting of the horse farm. In addition to watching the horses in the fields, we saw deer, wild turkeys & rabbits. It is also very convenient for restaurants in downtown Hillsville, as well as nearby Galax & Mt Airy.

May 20, 2025- May 25, 2025 What a wonderful escape! Coming from the fast pace life in Florida, this charming Virginia farmhouse was the perfect retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather, peaceful scenery, and all the wildlife that surrounded us. The hot tub was an amazing bonus just what we needed to unwind. One funny surprise there’s a motion sensor sprinkler outback that gave us quite the wake up-Call when we got too close-Definitely a memorable moment! This stay was everything we hoped for and more. The owners were kind enough to bring us flowers because part of our trip was due to a recent loss in the family the extra thought truly meant a lot. Recommend this cozy cabin to all of you who is looking for a peaceful and beautiful surroundings on top of the mountain. Trails are not far away, same with a grocery store’s. Plenty of space to play with a family or just walk around in the morning cloud while drinking coffee. High clearance vehicle is mandatory to get there.

This was a lovely little house for a short stay. There were animals that you could see out the back window and everything was clean and comfortable! They had a loop driveway so it was easy to get in and out. We would definitely stay here again!

Highly recommend fiddlers cabin to anyone looking for a quiet and scene get away

We stayed here with friends for a wedding and were conveniently close to the venue in Rocky Mount. Very clean house. Very comfortable to stay in.

The Copper Buffalo A-Frame was a wonderful place to stay for our weekend getaway to attend a wedding. We had plenty of space, the house was clean and well stocked and the views are breathtaking! We took lots of photos :-) Thank you for letting us stay in your majestic place.

It was beautiful and relaxing! We will try to stay there again if it’s available the next time we go to visit our grandchildren.

Stayed May 26-June 1. Perfect cabin for 4 people. We drove our RAM truck hauling 2 Harley bikes. The yard is big enough to accommodate. The driveway is gravel but it wasn’t too uphill. We encountered few problems and Ms. Jill answered all our questions and helped with the situation. She’s a phenomenal host! She’s very responsive, and accommodating to our issues. Complete amenities. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. We did brought our own ( we always do). We cooked breakfast for three days and cooked some steaks on the griddle outside on our 2nd night. Washed our clothes, laundry supplies provided. Great WiFi connection. We rode our bikes to the mountains. If you love to ride, you won’t regret staying here! 5 star review. Definitely recommended!

Wonderful and peaceful place! I went with my aunt and a friend to watch the all star race and this place was only about 30 minutes from the track. The home was immaculate and had more than enough room for the 3 of us.

I think this was our 8th visit—we love the Golden Cottage—stress instantly lifts upon arrival! We’ll be back later this year (and probably again a couple times in 2026)—truly a necessity for relaxation!

Stayed here with a few coworkers while overnighting for a project site out this way. The space was wonderful, clean, and exactly what was described. We got there late and left early in the morning, but still loved seeing the horses right of the porch and how surprisingly spacious the space was! We will definitely be back and hopefully get to meet some of the dogs next time.

Morningside was such a nice retreat for my family! Robert was very responsive. He and his wife were so kind to our toddler and let him meet their horses. The property is gorgeous and is the perfect place you if you want to unwind!

We loved The Farmhouse! The home is beautiful and welcoming. It was so peaceful sitting on the porches. I wish we could have stayed longer. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed. We saw sunrises from the front porch and even saw a rainbow. The cows in the fields were so much fun to watch and you can see them from the windows. The big yard was nice to walk around. The home is decorated so nice. It is the perfect getaway. Thank you Peggy. She was fantastic!

What a great location! Very beautiful and serene, yet close to 81, markets, etc. There are no windows or natural light in the living space, so we just spent all our time sitting at the bar at the window - and what a view!! It changes all day long, as the sun shifts across the sky, and the horses are like jewels on the landscape. We sat outside late at night and enjoyed the stars and fireflies. The space was very clean and comfortable, John was available and welcoming, We're very glad to have stayed at his home.

The place is beautiful and will definitely go back.

Wow! I can't say enough good things about Chris and Anita! They are perfect hosts. The property is serene! The house is adorable and roomy. The amenities are outstanding. The landscape is picture perfect. Chris and Anita have lovingly restored this historical property. It is truly magical! The town of Union is adorable and the people are warm and welcoming. I will return often to stay on this property and highly recommend it for a tranquil get away.
