Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Monteverde

traveled with my family total of 4. Check in was easy and the staff provided a lot of great information about local eats and things to do. very good communication & responsive to texting. the location was great and the view from the residence was as described and phenomenal! Nice and quit but close to everything. highly recommended!

This place is a true haven of peace. We appreciated Johnathan's courtesy, who was very kind, he welcomed us on arrival and explained the details. Very friendly and kind, it was very pleasant. The house was very clean and the beds are very comfortable. We slept very well. The view is splendid, breathtaking. The place is about 3km from the village, and the roads are not paved, we rented a 4x4 that was useful to go up to the house, but parking is available down the hill. Monteverde is a village nestled in the mountains, in the morning we had lunch above the clouds. Funny thing, a cat walks around the house and is very affectionate. 10/10 recommend the place to stay in Monteverde, it's perfect.

Great location

David's place is amazing. This was our second stay, and we'd definitely come back for a third. David is a great communicator and is proactive and flexible. The place is beautiful and close to the Curi Cancha reserve. We saw a ton of animals and birds.

Great place to stay! Nice view of the mountains, big rooms and good kitchen. Good location to do some activities in the area. We only stayed for one night but we could check-in early en enjoyed our stay!

Large and cute wood cabin! The kitchen is fully stocked with a lot of appliances. It has a really nostalgic Charme. Daniela & Cesar responded right away when there was a question. My only criticism is the shower. They gave us instructions for the shower as soon as we asked. There is warm water! Not hot but warm. My issue was more with the pressure. When you want the water pressure to be higher, the water gets colder. I think maybe a handheld shower could solve this issue a little. Overall a very nice stay with one quirk. Thanks for hosting :)

The most incredible view! One of the best locations we have ever stayed for sunsets, dramatic views, and wildlife. Wonderful hosts. I will add...this is a great place for explorers. It's not ideal for high maintenance folks. There are bugs, that get into the house. There's no AC - although the fans and mountain air made it comfortable for us. Very remote - amazing if that floats your boat - be ready to drive for any stores/restaurants etc. Overall, highly recommend 5 stars. If you're looking for luxury, look somewhere else.

What a gem above the clouds of Monteverde! Tobi and his family have created an amazing place to getaway and enjoy the mountains. There was so much wildlife and the accommodations were super comfortable and quiet. Tobi’s family’s restaurant is “Stella’s” (just down the mountain) and it is awesome as well. Tobi had excellent recommendations and connections. He is super helpful and friendly. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Next time…!

Andrea's place is great. Easy to get to, with good security, and with all the elements you need to have an excellent stay. A separate note for Andrea. He was a really great host. Always a step forward. Surely the best host since we used Airbnb. Absolutely recommended. Thank you very much and I hope we can come back.

We had a lovely stay, the apartment is surrounded by nature and it has a beautiful view into the valley. Bed is comfy and warm. Coffee and tea provided and there’s a small but useful kitchen in the living room. You can walk into a small nature reserve directly from the accommodation with dense forest. Can highly recommend this place.

We had a great stay at Jose's place. Very clean, more flexible. Check in and great view. I would always book the place again!

Yesenia and her son are wonderful hosts. We were warmly greeted by her son upon arrival and immediately felt welcome. The accommodation corresponded exactly to the photos and the description – everything was very clean and well maintained. For a short stay, everything necessary was available. The location is a bit outside the center, but pleasantly quiet. Everything was easily accessible with your own car. We felt very comfortable and can definitely recommend the accommodation.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fresia's place. It was a treat having actual hot water in the kitchen sink and the shower, something that we'd realized was not always the case in Costa Rica. It was a bit of a challenge to find which specific villa we were in, and how to get in once we arrived, but part of that challenge was that I hadn't read the check-in instructions I'd received until I got there, and they basically said "Reach out to your host for check in instructions". But Fre responded to my messages, told me which specific villa it was, and sent someone to help us access the villa. Fresia's assistant/property person, Anna, was extremely helpful with issues and local info/recommendations. The place is very nice; gas stove (had to go outside to turn the propane tank on initially), big fridge, comfy beds, nice sheets and towels, lovely tile floor, very spacious, lots of good stuff about the place. Very peaceful location. I would stay here again.

The stay with Marcela was great. The place was very nicely decorated, there were even a few board games ready. The view of the rainforest was just beautiful.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The balcony is the true highlight—perfect for watching wildlife. We spotted 54 bird species on the property, including the charismatic Three-wattled Bellbird, watched a troop of nine monkeys, and even saw a compost-diving coati—all from the comfort of the balcony. The hosts were fantastic at communicating, and the lodging was clean, comfortable, and exactly as pictured. All the amenities and equipment worked perfectly, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals for a week. There’s also a small grocery and bakery conveniently located across the street. The location is excellent—within a 10-minute walk you’ll find Curi Cancha Reserve, Bajo del Tigre, the Monteverde Waterfall, and the Crandall Reserve, which is accessible directly from the property. There is some occasional road noise from motorcycles and milk trucks, but the incredible wildlife and comfort more than make up for it. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a front-row seat

Found our stay at the apartment comfortable and enjoyable. The place was spotlessly clean. The bedrooms were spacious and the mattresses comfortable as were the sofas in the living space. It was an ideal location for our base for the week, close to town and restaurants, but also perfect as a sanctuary from some spectacular rain and thunderstorms that would roll in. We never really used the kitchen for cooking but it had all the amenities. The shower had good water pressure and hot water if needed. Our hosts were very friendly and responsive to any questions. If we needed it, fresh towels and sheets were available as was a tidy and clean of the garbage and bathroom from the helpful lady who worked there. We stayed for just over a week and would happily return and recommend to others.

The place is super centrally located and offers everything you need. There is a parking space right outside the door, and shopping is right around the corner. We were even able to check in very early because our health was not doing so well – that was a great help. The flexible extension of our stay also worked out great. Veronika is a great host and offered us her translation support when we had a medical incident. Thank you for everything!

We had everything we needed and we lacked nothing. The place is very quiet - secluded from the main road. Some storage space would have been nice but was not disturbing. There was also enough equipment for cooking, even if some things are outdated. All in all, you really can't complain - this is complaining to a high standard.
