Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Fairhaven

Staying at the Mermaid Cottage was such a refreshing and relaxing experience. The cottage is cozy, clean and made us feel right at home. Stephen included instructions and local recommendations in the house guide, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The location does require a car - or Uber - but it is extremely worth it! We would love to return in the future. Truly a wonderful stay.

Our 3rd summer on West Island and this has been our favorite airbnb so far (and one of the others was waterfront!). We felt so at home. It was my husband, me and our two boys (3.5yo and 6 month old). Very clean and comfortable. Only minor issue (for us specifically) is the stairs aren’t very safe for toddlers if you have them sleeping alone in one of the bedrooms. We ended up locking our toddler in the twin room each night so he didn’t walk out and fall down the stairs middle of the night. I realize this is a very specific problem, so this place gets 5 stars from us and we hope to be back again!

Do yourself a favor and book this lovely home for your next vacation. From communication to cleanliness and comfort, you won’t find a nicer place to stay. We have never stayed at an AirBnb that had everything we needed: - Extra towels - Fully and I mean fully equipped kitchen - washer/dryer w detergent & fabric sheets - forgot shampoo, toothpaste or Q-tips? No need to run out to the store, they have you covered! - multiple pillows so you can choose the one you’re most comfortable with - water views with ducks! We couldn’t take advantage of the lovely deck due to the weather but we enjoyed the views everyday! There was honestly nothing missing. Lindsey and Patrick have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. They didn’t skimp on quality. No stained, rough towels or sheets, no rusty cookware. They even had a popcorn maker, food processor, food scale, and multiple coffee makers. Thank you, Lindsay and Patrick for a stress free vacation!

Amazing attention to details. This was absolutely the first Airbnb that was better than its photos -- truly impeccable, comfortable and an abundance of all the necessities -- more than ample supply of towels. All of the rooms and furnishings were incredibly comfortable. And I had numerous questions before the trip and every question was answered promptly and thoroughly. We will return -- and highly recommend! Thank you Emily Ruth for being a most gracious and ideal host.

What a wonderful stay. Family of 6 fit comfortably, with ready access to local beach, sites,and food. It was spotless, and Nicole was always available to respond. We also appreciated the space for the time it offered to relax, away from a busy wedding event in New Bedford. Would recommend to all.

Oceans 11 was top notch!! They provided everything we needed for a few days of exploring and relaxing! The sign Welcoming our family was so special. The home was so comfortable and very clean. We loved our private beach and the neighbors were so sweet and kind enough to share cucumbers and tomatoes from his garden. We visited the Zoo and The Ice cream cottage provided a yummy summer treat! We did some antiquing and visited some great restaurants. We would definitely recommend this home and would book it again!! Thanks for a memorable stay!

Glenn’s place was outstanding! His hospitality and thoughtfulness was apparent throughout the house and through our entire stay. The view was beautiful for watching boats and sunrises. The location was also centrally located for a trip to Boston or taking a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. Glenn was very attentive to our needs and checked in on us via message periodically throughout our stay. Thank you for an amazing weekend!

Stayed here as a family of 4, set up was perfect for kids to stay together in one room and home has everything we needed. Great location close to a park, beach, restaurants and ferry. Simple check in and out and clear instructions.

We had a really sweet weekend stay here. The location was super convenient — close to Newport, scenic drives, and great food options. The space was clean, cozy, and felt private while still being part of a friendly neighborhood. The bed was comfy, the AC worked great, and check-in was smooth. It had everything we needed for a relaxing trip.

We have stayed here many times and it always feels like coming home. Cathleen is very responsive and her parents Judy and Bob go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We’re planning another extended stay later this summer. Overall a great,clean and comfortable place.

My daughters and I spent the weekend here, and it truly was a perfect stay! We traveled from New Jersey to visit my nephew who lives in New Bedford, and the apartment’s location—just 6 minutes away—couldn’t have been more convenient. The space was spotless and beautifully maintained. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything I needed to prepare a delicious Saturday morning breakfast. The bathroom was impressively spacious, and I have to rave about the towels and bedding—absolutely luxurious! The bath towels, in particular, were divine. I’d love to know where they were purchased so I can get some for my own home. The beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and the thoughtful touches—like the lovely houseplants—gave the apartment a warm, homey feel. I'm so glad I found this gem! I visit the area often and will definitely be booking again. Vania provided clear, detailed instructions and was incredibly responsive throughout our stay. A solid 10 out of 10 across the board!

We had a perfect stay — travelling with a toddler can sometimes be challenging but Debora provided everything we needed to make the stay comfortable (cot, high chair, bath, even cutlery!) and it really felt like a home away from home. The airbnb was spotless, it’s a good location in Fall River walking distance from a playground, parking was super easy, and we loved our stay.

The apartment is very comfortable. The pictures are accurate. Beds comfortable. Plenty of very nice bath linens. I loved the types and amount of lighting in every room. Wonderful water pressure in the shower. The kitchen is very functional . I loved cooking on the beautiful big stove. We really appreciated having both a Keurig and a coffee maker. The one thing I would caution about is the stairs. They are as pictured. We had no problem with them, but people with knee issues might. I will certainly look for this property again when in the area.

We Love Norm's place! Such a great location, and the apartment has all that you need. If you like to bike to the beach, this is a great place to be, with three nice beaches all within five miles. The interior is cool and comfortable, and the patio with a partial ocean view is quiet and peaceful and is a great place to lounge and watch the birds. The neighborhood is very calm and quiet. Norm was helpful and accommodating, and the coffee and breakfast items were really appreciated. No shopping needed and just start the day! We really enjoyed the outdoor shower as well. We hope to return every year.

A great place. Easy parking and easy access to the apartment. Autumn is a wonderful host and very accommodating. I will be going back to this great place.

LENGTHY POST! Let me start off by saying that the location is amazing! A super quick walk to lots of food places (I recommend the Seven Stars Bakery for breakfast and Hotline Pizza for lunch/dinner!!) Colin was extremely helpful! Although we arrived a bit earlier than expected, he was super nice about it. He showed us how to work the front door keypad and gave us a grand tour of the apartment, going into detail about how the AC remote and the shower works. It baffles me that people complain on how “tight” the parking is or how “small” the room was when everything in the description before booking is described perfectly. There was plenty of room for my husband and I. Throughout the house, you can see some really cool photos, in which he took himself! We came from Maryland and we think this place is definitely worth it. If we come back, we’re staying here!

We loved our stay. The cottage was adorable, clean, and had everything needed. The outside yard and waterfront was precious. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more and will absolutely stay again!

Gorgeous place right next to Bowens wharf. You can walk to everything and it’s very convenient and the parking at PCH was great. Clean beautiful room and they provided us with a crib for our infant. Coffee bar in the hall and espresso maker in the room was perfect for our 2am wake up call for our early morning flight. Bed was extremely comfortable and we didn’t want to leave! Definitely booking PCH again when we come to Newport to visit family.

Host was responsive and helpful, instructions were clear. The apartment was clean and very nice, we enjoyed eating dinner on the porch. It was easy to drive to downtown Providence and Gillette Stadium. It was easy to get to and a lot of space for parking (we all arrived mostly separately and there was space to park all 3 cars). Also, we were all very impressed by the shower and the water pressure lol. A great location and great Airbnb!! I would def recommend this spot and would come back! 😊

This place was great! It was wonderful to stay in such a historic building. The apartment was very clean and tidy, the check-in/check-out instructions were very easy, and the host also provided suggestions for nearby restaurants. I definitely recommend this place!

Alex’s place was a great stay to recharge and relax after the long days we had last week. I would highly recommended this place for anyone popping through New Bedford, or staying for a few days! The airbnb was spotless and quiet and clean. I will be renting here again when I need somewhere to stay when I’m back in New Bedford! Also very close to downtown all the coffee shops, and restaurants! Quiet neighborhood.

I could have lived here in a dream world! What a perfect place full of charm, character, and all of the modern amenities. The kitchen and bath were pristine. The floors, the doors, the windows, the creaks, the history- perfection. Waleed was a great host and even accommodated a last minute early checkin request! Would stay here again and HIGHLY recommend!

Nice spot very close to everything, small but the right size for a couple to stay!

This is a ground level apartment in an historic home just off Benefit Street, a prime location on Providence’s College Hill. Because of the sloped terrain, it might seem like a basement apartment from one side, but it has a garden entrance at the front door. If you can handle the steep streets in this hilly area, it’s a perfect location if you want to be within walking distance of Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and Downtown Providence. I did not rent a car while staying here and never felt I needed one. Tall travelers should be aware that this dwelling has low ceilings by modern standards. That didn’t bother me in the slightest; in fact, it made the apartment feel more cozy. Nevertheless, visitors over six feet tall should be aware of this aspect and make an informed decision. The apartment has a warm, comforting esthetic with all sorts of art on the walls and books on the shelf, and both made a great background for video conferences using the robust wifi signal.
