Family-friendly holiday rentals in Custer County

This was the coolest place! We loved it and it was even nicer than the pictures and way bigger! We were able to sleep our kiddos on the floor in the bedroom even which we didn’t expect. There were lots of sleeping options though with air mattresses and sleeping bags. We would stay here again

Paula and her family are wonderful hosts. They stay in the small home on property and you really don’t even know they are there. Paula shows the best amount hospitality. Stella ,their dog is the sweetest. They keep her on their part of the property. The cabin is one of the cleanest airbnbs I’ve stayed in. Paula keeps a fully supplied kitchen with all you would need, if you like to cook your own meals. There’s a little ‘echo’ for playing your favorite music. Out in the backyard is a great hot tub. Privacy and having a peaceful experience is their M.O. We certainly had a peaceful and private experience. Paula makes great recommendations for anywhere you’d like to go from sight seeing & hiking to meals out. We went to the best coffee place in town on her recommendation and had to go everyday from the first time on. We went everyday for 1 week. It was the Hermosa Coffee house. The owner is super hospitable, she works with her daughters. She makes her own pastry. The maple bacon cinnamon roll is the best! The coffee is superb. Back to the house, the backyard is where we spent mornings reading and nights star gazing. The cabin is also central to lots of great South Dakota highlights, Custer state park, Mount Rushmore, the badlands, keystone, rock hunting, and downtown Custer. We would definitely stay again. We found South Dakota to take pride in being caring for others and hospitable. We loved our vacation. We loved our stay in Paula’s family cabin.

One of the cleanest and most comfortable places we have stayed with plenty of space.. There was not one thing we needed that was not there. Helpful notes and clear instructions were around. We enjoyed evenings on the porch in the hot tub. And the kitchen was well equipped to prepare meals. It was very quiet and restful after touring the area. It seems remote yet not far to town or the attractions. these are hosts wh are dedicated to helping folks have a great stay!

Great place to stay. Great instructions, really simple on guests, and not a speck of dust. Amenities within the house are above and beyond anything I’ve ever seen at a property rental.

It was the 2 time staying in Custer during the rally. The 3 of us agreed it was the best. It was so comfortable and relaxing when we were at the cabin It was the best night sleep the beds are great!!! I would highly recommend the cabin & next time I hope to rent this place again!!!

Great cabin with peaceful surroundings and close to all attractions. Family does a ton of back country hiking and this was a great jump off point to those trails. Perfect country setting. Two story cabin with one bathroom located on the main floor, accessed through the master bedroom and kitchen area. Definitely recommend the location. The hosts were very responsive to all questions. Side note for vegan options- check out Mt Rushmore Brewing Company the lower rear restaurant.

We loved the place! Fun, roomy cabin with a bonus single-bed cabin. Peaceful surroundings and large yard that the kids loved exploring! Great location! The kids loved the bunk bed room. All 9 of us were cozy here!

Three of us traveled here from Nebraska. The property is as described. The location is top notch as you are right in the heart of Custer and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. It is also a great place to stay to see the sights. The place was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great house in a great location. The yard was great. It was fun to explore. There were interesting things throughout the house. The location is perfect. The house was clean, comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We would love to stay there again.

Quaint little cabin in a beautiful setting. Quiet neighborhood and you would never know it was 4 blocks from down town. The lit mini Christmas tree a week before Christmas was warming and welcoming when we opened the door. Definitely recommend and will be bringing the family here next trip west.

Really nice location for a quick trip to the grocery store or a short walk to shop. Kitchen was well-equipped and the laundry facilities very nice. It was perfect for our family of 7 and the kids really had fun with the pinball machines. The home was neat and very clean.

Very clean, perfect location for walking to restaurants and shopping and Teresa and Vic are friendly and responded right away with any questions we had. We highly recommend staying at the home while visiting Custer. Tom and Velia
