Fitness-friendly holiday rentals in Allerdale District

We stayed here when we were visiting the area for a wedding. It was a great location and incredibly clean and tidy. Staying here made the 7 hour drive from Devon very worth it and we would stay again if we’re ever in the area!

Just had an incredible weekend break at Jenny's gorgeous accommodation. I have seen other reviews saying that the photos and description doesn't do this place justice and I totally agree. The lodge had everything we needed, was perfectly clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The views from the balcony are breathtaking!! The location is so picturesque, peaceful and clean and extremely close to Keswick. We took full advantage of the gym, swimming pool, sauna and hot tub, which was a brilliant way to start/finish the day. Also highly recommend the White Horse pub, where I have eaten the best chicken burger ever! Jenny, thank you for the kind and thoughtful treats. We highly recommend your place to anyone!! xxx

We booked this accom very last minute(3hrs before we checked in), and turned out to be a great choice. Having never heard of Whitbarrow Village we did not know what to expect and was very pleased to find this apartment was part of a larger holiday village complex. The apartment was very well kitted out and had all mod cons you would want, some cleaning products and tea/coffee bits,plus a nice outdoor seating area and close access to the pool and games areas. The main reception building was very clean and the pool facilities were fantastic as well as the kids games area & cinema room (9yr old with us). Only a 15 min drive to Keswick or Penrith made it a great location just off the A66 but so peaceful & quiet. Friendly on-site staff and well maintained garden areas. Overall a great little find and will definetly stay at Whitbarrow Village again.

A perfect base for the start of our Hadrian’s Wall Cycle adventure. We did a Solway loop to Silloth, then Carlisle and back to Bowness on Solway (around 56miles)

What a beautiful place to stay! Thank you Jerry for having such a well maintained apartment - including a full kitchen so we could self cater. The whole place was also so snug and cosy and the bed was super comfy. Perfect place to just relax after a full day exploring! Fab location with stunning views overlooking fells - quiet area, barely knew others were about. Apartment well looked after, clean and tidy. Bonus having access to the gym, sauna & spa. We went for a short break and it was lovely! The house was perfect for chilling out after a long day. Kitchen had a lot of things we needed and plenty of things to do even in the home! Perfect location, both towns either side of us with lots of options to eat and all within walking distance too. We were so glad we were able to stay here and hoping to be back soon! Such a lovely apartment. We cannot wait to return. The Pilates/Yoga room was a lovely addition. The only things missing were waste paper bins in the living room and bedrooms. A washer/dryer would be a welcome extra, especially after a hike or downpour. Stylish and superb.

Once inside it was a lovely space which suited myself,wife and two teenage boys and the dog. Shops just a short walk with a lovely bakery just a few doors down. All in a all well worth it.

Absolutely stunning! Perfect get away and stay for the weekend. The views were absolutely stunning and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful too. So peaceful, you can really get away from everything. Unfortunately we didn’t get chance to explore too much as we didn’t have much time due to us taking part in the MacMillan Mighty Hike but we will 100% be back! The loft apartment at Bowness House Farm exceeded our expectations- in fact the whole courtyard complex did. The apartment was beautifully styled and thought through with an excellent kitchen area, spacious en-suite, very comfortable sitting area and bed. We loved the details and finish- in fact I wish we’d been staying for a week rather than one night. Michelle, the manager, was welcoming and helpful. She also cooked our delicious breakfast this morning. The restaurant is full of warmth and character and we loved the inspirational sayings from 20th century icons ( including Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley and Stephen Hawking), the sparkling lights and the general ambience. We also throughly enjoyed our evening meal there. This was such a beautiful place I’d cycle the 150 miles back just to stay again !

We’ve had such a lovely weekend in Barney’s Retreat. The place was spotless and we had a lovely welcome pack of goodies waiting by for us - a lovely surprise! Hannah responded to a query with efficiency and friendliness, thank you! We’ll definitely be booking again next year!

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Mark the host gave us super easy and clear instructions to get to, and get in the caravan which made things super easy. The caravan is absolutely stunning, so clean inside with absolutely everything you need, from plates, cleaning products, even a slow cooker and dishwasher. Everything was left for our one year old including a cot and blankets, and they even had bubbles, loads of games and books for all ages. The WiFi worked really well and honestly we couldn’t fault it. The site was lovely, although there wasn’t loads to do for the kids, they made use of the golf, football pitches and pool. The entertainment was decent and we even won £500 at bingo! Thanks for a lovely stay!

The host met us and showed us around. Lovely personal touch. We were allowed a later check out. The house is stunning and in a beautiful location. Room decor and en-suites met everyone’s needs. Welcome pack was a lovely added touch with lots of high end quality goodies included. The house had everything we needed if we had forgotten anything. Hand soap’s, kitchen stocked with dishwasher tablets cleaning sprays, tea/ coffee etc The log burner had a full basket of logs. The outside space was amazing with chairs provided. Indoor games for children and families, plenty of crockery and glasses. All provided. The only one point might be a few more outdoor games or an upgrade on some equipment/ games for outdoors. This is a personal thing as we had children with us, and very much weather dependent. We were lucky and sun shone all weekend. Thank you to the host for providing such a fantastic stay.

We had an amazing stay! The cottage was just as described and in the perfect location so we hardly had to use the car at all and were able to walk to Windermere, Bowness and Brockhole with our two girls ( 13 and 8). The use of the nearby pool was an added bonus after a day in the mountains. We’ll definitely be back! 😀

Lovely cottage in a quiet setting, about 25 mins from both Coniston and Windermere. The cottage is comfortably furnished with all the kitchen essentials for your break away. Steve was very quick to respond to messages both before the holiday giving us some helpful tips on places to go and during our visit as needed. We had a very relaxed time there with plenty to do in the surrounding area's.

The lodge was fabulous, really enjoyed our stay. I even picked up a couple of decor ideas. Had a lovely time feeding the ducks, swans and other wildlife, very relaxing. Shops and amenities easy to get to by car, lovely restaurants around the area. Would absolutely recommend.

Really great stay, the sound of the river at night just was amazing. Beautiful location. Jonquil helped at every step and was a great host. Will stay again in the future

Great place all-round. Everything was just as described on the listing and Dornu, the host, was incredibly friendly and helpful. A great place to use as a base for your trip to the lakes :)
