Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Achill Island

Really loved our stay. The house is close to Old Head beach, lovely walks and Louiseburg.

My brother and myself were paying a visit to relatives who live in the area..we found Sheila’s air B&B to be very accommodating..very homely ..warm ..private ..as my brother described it to being like “ home from home “.accommodation was very clean and well equipped .We could not find fault at all . We met Sheila before departing and had a lovely friendly chat and discovered she knew our relatives . We would definitely use this accommodation again if it met our requirement dates .

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at James house - it was clean, comfortable and very cosy! The beds were very comfortable and kitchen perfect for cooking and living in. There was a fire on in the stove when we arrived and made the house so welcoming and cosy. It is in beautiful surroundings with lots of walks and Westport only 15 mins away and plenty of restaurants etc in Murrisk only 5 mins away - great base for exploring Mayo and climbing croagh Patrick and as a family of 5 and 2 dogs it was just perfect! We also went in the free Killary harbour cruise that was offered and it was fantastic - highly recommend! James was very friendly and on hand if needed - we would definitely visit again!

This was my large family’s 2nd time staying at Patricia’s. We chose to stay here again knowing that the house is very well presented, and in an ideal location for us (visiting family in Claremorris and Milltown). Towels are provided, and the kitchen has all the equipment you might need. We love how spacious the house is, the kids really enjoyed the garden, which is huge and secure. The views are stunning (even when the weather is not so good), and the area is very quiet and tranquil. I would recommend Patricia’s to anyone looking to stay in the area ☺️ Thanks, Heather x

From the moment we entered the house and walked into the gorgeous back garden, we fell in love with this special place. Rachel is an exceptional hostess and soon we felt like dear friends rather than simply house guests. She responded quickly to questions and asked if there was anything that we needed to make our stay more comfortable. So many thoughtful touches --- fresh bread, tea and milk in the kitchen, and books, Netflix, and a turntable with vintage vinyls for entertainment. Each room was super clean, and the bed was so comfortable! We relied on bikes and bus so the Stone House was a perfect location with an easy walk to town and the Burrishole Community Center, where we played pickleball with the friendly members of the Newport Pickleball Club. We biked the nearby Greenway to Achill Sound, Burrishole Abbey, and Wild Nephin National Park. We already are planning another trip to Newport and there is no place we’d rather stay than Rachel’s Stone House.

This is a remote location. We were glad we had brought most of the food we intended to eat along with us. That said the kitchen is very well equipped and the essentials provided by Tony were very good. The beds were comfortable, lots of towels provided, good furnishings. The internet was a touch weak. The views from the house are wonderful, our dogs enjoyed walking in the fields below the house (hope that was ok!). We did some great birdwatching from the property. I had the impression that the beach was walking distance from the house...it isn't really but it is a very short hop in the car and it is very beautiful. Long sandy beach, dunes, rocks forming wading pools. We were there in mid spring v high summer but the beach was perfectly clean and almost entirely empty. I would love to stay at tony's again.

Such an amazing location and a beautiful, cosy, pristine and comfortable house with stunning views. We (3 adults and 1 dog) Really enjoyed our refreshing walks on the beach with memorable sunrise & sunset views followed by cosy nights in by the roaring fires! Mary was great to deal with and super friendly. House had everything you could need and more. Cannot wait to return!

Our A Frame stay was perfect! Highly recommend! A great base from which to explore hiking Wild Nephin National Park and located in an absolutely stunning area - gorgeous coastal views to one side and beautiful Mountain View’s to the other. Super close to Westport and groceries, dining, etc. if needed. The cabin is immaculately clean, modern design and amenities, and plenty of room for meal prep. Really pretty light and views. Abundant hot water and heat, washer, dryer, and dishwasher all brand new and work great. Comfy cozy bed and couches/chairs. Serene outdoor spaces and surrounds in a private yard that feels secluded but safe at the end of a lane with charming farmhouses. Brendan is responsive and helpful host. We loved our stay and would stay again if we’re in the area in the future!

Six of us stayed over the bank holiday, the house was clean and lots of space had everything you needed. Keel Beach is a short walk away and you can easily walk to the shop and pubs in the village. Only small thing we didn’t like is the meter read for the electricity it would be better just factored into the price out electricity bill was small if you where there for a week it wouldn’t be long gathering up. Other than that place is lovely and Carmel was very friendly.

A real irish gem of a property. It was a privilege to stay here -every window captures a view out on to one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Fantastic host, nothing to compete with location and the homeliest of houses. Thank you x

Dave's cottage was cozy and very peaceful, with a wonderful view of the sea and a nicely isolated setting. We enjoyed the fireplace every night. Dave provided clear instructions to access the cottage and was very helpful throughout our stay. We also appreciated the sheep grazing around the cottage. We definitely recommend this place!

We had a great time, the house was very comfortable and the area was perfect

Very cute cabin in a super cute garden. The way to the cabin is a bit adventurous, but the given instructions are very clear and detailed. We had no issues finding it. We drive a BMW i4 (not AWD) and with some caution it was doable. The beautiful and quiet place is definitely worth it!

The Coastguard’s House is in a beautiful location, quiet and amazing views. Lawrence, Myra and Lawrence Sr couldn’t be mire helpful or friendly. Their hospitality is faultless. The house is super comfortable and clean and very spacious. Seeing the seals and cormorants gave an extra special feel to the holiday. We loved it and had a fantastic week.

Just back from a fabulous two night stay, was the most relaxing break I have had in a long time can't wait to go back

I could not recommend John’s house highly enough. We stayed here for two nights as a group of 12 and we wish we could have stayed for a week. The house is beautiful beyond belief, so spacious and fully equipped with everything you could think of to cater for big groups. The hot tub and bar are wonderful additions to an already amazing house. Even though we didn’t have perfect weather we still enjoyed making the most of the hot tub. The house is even more impressive in person than how it looks in photos and the view surrounding it is breathtaking. It’s a real retreat and the perfect place to gather with friends/ family. Only a ten minute drive to Mulranny town and beach, but you probably won’t want to leave the house! An incredible stay, thank you so much to John and Sharon who were always so helpful and responsive to messages. I hope we’ll be back again soon!

We had a lovely stay. The house is huge, loads of space for our extended family group. We loved that there were 2 large bedrooms on the lower ground level. It meant the grandparents had a more private area for themselves. House is a short stroll to a local shop, coffee shop and pub which does great food! James was a great host and was quick to respond to queries. Would definitely book again!
