Cottage holiday rentals in Yucatan

Am I sleeping in an art gallery? Or is it a botanical garden? Or a wine making lab? My host in Maxcunú, Adolfo, is a retired university researcher. He’s an agronomy engineer, but has several hobbies he’s passionate about, always focused primarily on the culture and lands of the Maya. My room, called "Tropical Birds", has remarkable works of art, and indeed, the whole property is covered with fascinating artworks. Adolfo volunteered to pick me up and drop me off at the Tren Maya station, which in any case is near town. It's a pleasant small town, safe to walk at night. Apart from Adolfo's own art gallery and botanical gardens and a few places around the plaza, there's not a lot of touristic interest right in town, but it's well located for several Maya sites, caves, and walking in the hills. The facility is as described with all the things you'd expect in a good airbnb. This is one place where conversation with the host is a definite plus, with his extraordinary wealth of knowledge.

Arturo was very nice and quick to answer. From the beginning he gave a lot of information about the place and what we could do to take advantage of our trip. The part we liked the whole apartment was the kitchen area, dining room, living room and terrace area, with an amazing view and spaciousness that is enjoyed very much for large families like ours. It was not easy to find a place with 5 rooms and this is a very good option. On the other hand, we were happy with the recommendation of Lulu and Fátima, who cook delicious and very hearty typical food. Two days in a row we had breakfast, ate and had dinner there, how rich everything they prepared for us was. Thank you very much for everything

We had a very pleasant stay at Mauricio’s place. The accommodation was comfortable and exactly as described. Both the host and the caretaker were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We truly appreciated their warm hospitality and support. Would definitely recommend!

It has everything you need, I didn't expect a pantry but there was and everything in the kitchen quite well equipped, the beds clean, the services did not fail, the beach was very quiet and excellent for children there was only enough air for a few days but it was quite enjoyed, covered parking and ample is appreciated, the distribution of rooms is good. We thought the pool but it is jacuzzi and it suddenly left us small, but it is nice

The hostess's service was very good, very attentive and helpful. the house was comfortable, clean, a quiet place to rest and family. if I would go back. We really liked the space in front, there was enough space to play soccer or some activity. There was room to hang hammocks everywhere, super good. They leave you two towels and two hammocks. if we liked it.

I truly hope to come back to this place, it was so cool. Beds are comfortable and the place is truly unique. I was worried the jungle sounds would be too loud to sleep but it was great. Pool was amazing. Some tips: Ask for detailed instructions for check in prior to arrival, (show pictures of the house as staff may take you to the wrong one) take screenshots of wifi login info so you can reach the outside world once you arrive to the house (as we had no cell reception, and I had trouble with the lock as it was a new type to me), if the lock is new to you, ask someone to show you how to both lock and unlock the door, bring food and everything you need as it really is out there, be prepared to ask for help in Spanish from onsite staff. We didn’t have trouble with any critters in our rooms or shoes but be careful opening the kitchen drawers as some like to hide in there. Finally, the natural environment is amazing, don’t miss the star gazing on the rooftop!

Militza was quick to respond. Great location to good restaurants around the area. Easy walking to the beach, the Malecon and downtown. Loved the sitting area in front wish the back had chairs but oh well, we made it work.

We loved staying at this jungle house. it was in a beautiful location close to coba and tulum. host was responsive and easy to communicate with.

We loved our stay in the Manor! Exceeded expectations, for sure. Wish we had more time to spend and relax here! If I’m ever back in Sabancuy I would stay here in a heartbeat. Close to cenotes & ruins. Friendly people in a friendly town!

I spent the last 2 weeks of my trip in this cottage working in seclusion. This place was enchanting and inspiring! When the sea is turbulent, it looks a little dark because of the washed-up grasses (so indeed no hail white beach and blue sea). But I found the proximity to the water and the constant sound of the waves incredibly soothing! I loved the remote location of this charming village. I had a rental car. Village of Dzitzantun, where you can do groceries, is about a 20-minute drive but Yavier was kind enough to bring groceries if needed. He and wife Melba were really friendly and helpful! They took coconuts from the tree and cut them in half so I could drink coconut juice. The house is well equipped and a bit outdated but I didn't mind. In the opposite lake lives an alligator that we could spot, very cool! Cenote Dzonot Dziik (20min drive) is worth a visit!

We're from USA. This was my first time ever staying in Mexico as an adult and my girlfriends first time staying in Mexico EVER. We are both unfamiliar with the culture and barely know Spanish, and in the small town of Homun that makes things difficult! 😅 All the locals were looking at us as we drove by, people were trying to sell us cenote tours, awkward, but never felt unsafe😊 There is a store right around the corner we were able to walk to, Maria offered us restaurants in town, and the local cenotes were BEAUTIFUL! This house is a perfect location central to multiple ruins like Uxmal and Chichen Itza, and offered a far more cultural and local experience ❤️ Much more meaningful than a fake resort The amenities were great, so many places to sit and relax we did not even use them all! Full kitchen was great, bathroom, etc. Bed was very stiff but I was so tired I didn't care. AC kept the house cool at night. The pool is 2m deep! For adventurous beginners only! Thank you Maria :)

We loved staying at the Hacienda for new years. Everything was perfect. Don Sam was always there to help us with anything. We had a wonderful weekend!

A very good option for family stays, each room has its own bathroom, the pool is good size, the private dock was our favorite part. We bring a board and tour the mangrove.

Awesome! The grounds are truly breathtaking; everyday there was something new to catch my eye - a flower, a bird, an iguana, a frog, different fruits, herbs... The pool was great. The outside patio area was fantastic for sunning, having meals, relaxing and entertaining. The cottage had everything I needed - strong internet, new/clean kitchen appliances, tv... and more!! Benjamin and his father are very, very kind and helpful. My dog enjoyed the space to run and play. It was a vacation I will remember forever and I hope to return.

This place is a humble, beautiful, dream-like beach home. It feels personal and real — not overdone or trying too hard. Just the essentials, done right. You can tell a lot of care went into creating a space that’s easy to settle into. The vibe is peaceful and low-key, and it really lets the natural beauty of Celestún shine. If you’re looking for a relaxed, authentic spot to unwind by the sea, this is it.

We loved the place. We were two people with three dogs and we had an amazing time. The entire space is completely fenced, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. It is a very quiet area, ideal for rest. On the way back, they recommended a place to order food and it was great! The pool is a very good size and the master bedroom is super comfortable. It has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing weekend.
