Waterfront holiday rentals in York County

Just as advertised and host was very responsive. It is not anything fancy. Gives me “my first apartment” vibes. The host makes it very clear this is not a five star resort. It’s small and dated but clean and exactly what I needed. If you need an inexpensive place to stay while you’re enjoying Norfolk and not looking for anything more than a place to shower, sleep, and eat; this place fits the bill. And huge plus is it’s pet friendly. Keep in mind if you have an older dog the stairs can be a bit steep for the 2nd floor rooms. No real issues other than the WI-FI being spotty but the host was very responsive and we had it resolved within a few minutes of me reaching out. The pet fee was not updated on the listing. At the time of review it was about $100 so double check. Also there is a pretty solid BBQ place / brewery literally across the street. Pricy but good. Highly recommend.

Location, location, location! Being right on the beach and having such a beautifully cultivated outdoor space was so nice! Really enjoyed amenities like the outdoor shower, beach chairs, and the hot tub.

My adult son said this was the best airbnb pick I'd made over the years! We rested AND had fun switching between pickleball, basketball, putting and kayaking. Kitchen was the perfect size and had all the basics for cooking a full meal. Beds were comfortable, roomy and every room had great views of the water and property. We loved everything about our stay

I would definitely stay here again! My absolute favorite part was the deck outside. It had so much seating and a table with an umbrella. The home was lovely. The queen size bed was comfy. The space on the side of the bed with the wall is awkward because the intake vent is there, and that vent is also loud and annoying. Just wear earplugs! We added two of the wooden tray tables from the closet as night stands. The house is clean except the floor, which I'd imagine is hard to sweep or mop because the boards have shifted, making the floor uneven with cracks through out. So the floor felt and looked a bit dirty, but you're by the beach with sand, so eh not a problem.

Erin was a great host even texting me a few times to see if I needed anything. Will return again for sure.

Bernadette's place is a fantastic getaway - very peaceful. The place is exactly as described. I thoroughly enjoyed the use of Bernadett 's kayak and paddle board (as well as walking ans running in her neighborhood and visiting Bethel Beach). I'd love to come back another time!

This was a lovely retreat with lots of nature and beautiful surroundings. Very friendly host who introduced us to her dogs. Highly recommend as a place to get away from it all!

Our stay at 1510 Jenkins Neck Rd in Hayes, VA, was a peaceful and rejuvenating escape. The home is beautifully maintained, with an open layout that allows natural light to fill the space. We appreciated the tasteful coastal décor and the clean, well-equipped kitchen, which made meal preparation enjoyable. The expansive deck provided a perfect spot to relax and take in the stunning views of the York River. The surrounding area is quiet and serene, offering a true retreat from daily life. The host was attentive and ensured our stay was comfortable. We highly recommend this property for a tranquil waterfront getaway.

Stayed with a toddler and a crawler in June. Leaving this review specifically for parents looking for the information I was looking for when we booked. The area is very nice/private, the water is shallow and perfect for littles! Water shoes are recommended as stated. The beach area is right outside the backyard, keep in mind this is a river and not the ocean so there are many bugs! For light sleepers there's also frogs in June. Our kids absolutely loved the water, there's sand to play in too, might have to clear an area from sea grass. Very little waves. The area/house is about 15 mins from anything so keep that in mind. We were thinking there would be more local restaurants and less chains but not really the case, at least not within 30 mins. We did a little more cooking than we hoped for, which the stove is touchy: front Lt burner is immediately hot, rt burner is barely working. Booster seat there in case you forget. Great home though, nice neighbors!

You will love absolutely everything about this place, located directly on a beautiful peaceful cove. Absolutely spotless inside, everything you could possibly need - from bug repellent to doggie bags to crab traps and canoes. The pictures truly don't do the place justice. If you are looking for peace and quiet, and gorgeous surroundings, this is it. Stop browsing and book!

We had a great couple of days together with our family. Really great place particularly for littles!

Michael place was great. Well stocked and clean. I appreciated the abundance of towels and linens. Lots of space for the whole family. Kids really enjoyed the water boards and fishing. Overall a great trip!

We so enjoyed our stay!! I frequent the Mathews area for a variety of reasons, but this was by far one of the most beautiful waterfront views I’ve seen at any place I’ve stayed. Buddy and Robin were extremely communicative and flexible— we were in town for a wedding with specific event timings and were able to check-in early to spruce up after travels. Which was SO helpful since some of our group had driven from Cleveland. We ended up spending quite a bit of time doing wedding activities out and about, but I crave coming back here and being able to relax at the beautiful pier and taking a kayak out. Would book again! The proximity to Bethel Beach should be a major selling point. It’s a wonderful walk with great birding opportunities!!

Gorgeous ocean views, great location, the balcony was the favorite spot the entire stay! Comfortable furniture, nice little cozy condo! Highly recommend the stay if you’re in the area!

This is truly a hidden gem in Cape Charles! We recently stayed for the long holiday weekend and loved every minute of our trip. The apartment is absolutely beautiful and the location couldn't be better. We enjoyed having the ability to walk around town and have stores and restaurants so close by. The host was friendly and helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. We look forward to staying here again!

What an amazing stay! I've never been satisfied with an Airbnb, the photos always are so much nicer than the reality - but Big Blue was actually even better than advertised! Merlyn's communication prior to arrival made things very easy. Accessing the unit was simple, and I felt safe with the self-locking doors. The unit was clean and so comfortable, with many personal touches - I instantly felt at home. I was overjoyed when I arrived and toured the unit. Really exceeded my expectations which was such a different feeling than all the other Airbnb I've rented over the years. The beach access was tidy and pretty, the gym and beach gear a nice touch, and the foot wash station was appreciated after my morning walks with the dog. I really can't say enough great things about my stay here. Hosts were friendly and helpful every step of the way. We mostly spent our time traveling around the area from VA Beach to OBX so I can't speak much about Norfolk/Ocean View. I would def rent Big Blue again.

The villa was the perfect place for our family to stay for graduation weekend at William and Mary. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Setting was lovely and great for walks in our down time. The only issue we had was the villa was not ready at the designated check in time and we had to wait an hour before we could get in.

We had an outstanding stay! Three generations and a one night trip and yet this host and house made it feel like a whole weekend getaway. The unit is spacious and wrapped in ocean views! The three rooms are great sizes and the beds were very comfortable so was the temperature in the unit. The kitchen was just like home maybe nicer and fully stocked so you can cook or bake! Ice maker and coolers and so much toys for the kiddos we didn’t have anything with us and yet needed nothing! This was a breathtaking trip in a home away from home and Mike and his cute pups were wonderful company when we crossed paths. We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this to anyone wanting a care free amazing trip! Don’t think twice, book!

Lovely stay. Kingsmill setting is beautiful. So much to do in Williamsburg area. Dave’s place was so comfortable, clean, well appointed and convenient to all.

Kingsmill is a naturally beautiful planned community where you could have lots of adventure and sport out of your back door with options for dining and exploration or you could just enjoy the beautiful views of the James River and the sounds of nature around you. Highly recommend for either!
