Cottage holiday rentals in Windermere

What a wonderful place for a peaceful break away. The house was so comfortable with all the amenities needed. The hot tub was a lovely addition too! My son, who loves wildlife photography, absolutely adored the river. He spent every possible moment down there photographing Kingfishers! I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves birds and wildlife.

We all felt incredibly spoilt at tower cottage. The accommodation just had a wonderful, relaxed, comforting playful energy about it. It felt that every ornament or artifact that the cottage held had a story behind it and what a privilege for us. It was joyous. The grounds, well that was something else. Early morning Deer, the call of the chiff chaff, the fast low flight of the sparrow hawk through the woods, the soothing sound of the stream in an evening, a great crested grebe joining us for our Sunday morning dip and the joy of the marble run in the woods reminded us to freely play all weekend as a friendship group. Living next door, Ruth and mark were on hand if we needed help or advice without ever feeling like our time and space was compromised. Relaxed wholesome hosts who love where they live. Their kindness was infectious. We will definitely be back.

We arrived on the Friday for a 3 night stay. The Barn is in a beautiful place inside and out. The Hot Tub was lovely on an evening and the patio fire was great to sit around for drinks early evening watching the Sun go down. Casterton village is only a couple of miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. The village its self had a gorgeous pub 7 mins walk from the Barn which had a great range of food and served Sourdough pizza on Sunday evening after 1700hrs with a lovely warm atmosphere and open fires. There is a great taxi service and some fabulous restaurants near to the Barn. The Black Bull and the Highwayman were fabulous. (We did go to Number 9 also and it was not somewhere I could recommend, service and food really poor.) Patrick and Anika were great responsive hosts and this is a do not miss property, that offers every you need for a fabulous stay. Our little group loved it. Thank you Karen, Denise and Naomi

We have just returned from a few nights away staying at this little piece of paradise. If you’re after a tranquil, relaxing holiday then this is the place to stay. From the house itself, to the spectacular views , the amazing pool house and the lovely, friendly neighbours, this place ticks all the boxes and more. Highly recommend visiting The Queens Arms for a meal (or just a cheeky drink), the staff are so friendly and just made our time away extra special. Malham is only a 20 min (ish) drive away and is stunning (a must see). The only thing I would advise is to make sure you take plenty of supplies (or do an online shop for delivery as we did) as the local shop is a 20min drive away. Thankyou again David, we will definitely be back.

Hermitage cottage was in a beautiful situation right on the river Lune. The cottage was clean and tidy. We enjoyed the hot tub, the barbecue and the outdoor seating. We were extremely fortunate with the weather and really enjoyed our stay. Walks around the estate were lovely. It is a lovely base to explore the Forest of Bowland and surrounding areas.

Stunning bay views made the cottage the perfect place to relax. The bed was super comfy, and we loved the little extra touches like the soft robes and complimentary tea, coffee, and milk. Just a short, scenic walk along the promenade to the village for supplies. The weather wasn’t the best, but the cosy cottage more than made up for it. Highly recommend! Thank you Gemma

This is a lovely cottage. So close Bowness centre which is full of places to eat and drink The cottage was beautiful, particularly liked the high bed in the top room. Comfy and snuggly. Garden was an added bonus.

Where to start. If you're looking at staying in Ambleside then look no further. Couldn't really ask for more, everything you need is right at your doorstep, yet just set back out of the centre that it's peaceful. The old wash house really has everything you would want. The courtyard outside is the perfect place to have your morning coffee or evening drink, with beautiful views and morning and evening sun. A charming little place where i am sure I will Stay again in the future.

The cottage was stunning and in a beautiful setting, ideally located for getting to and around the lake. Highly recommend for a family get away for beautiful scenery and tranquility.

We had a lovely time at Morven’s place, which was our second visit to Hideaway Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped and has a great location in Staveley with good links into the heart of the Lakes. Easy walks are accessible from the cottage. A perfect spot for a quiet few days of rest and relaxation!

A lovely place in a great central location within walking distance of Lake Windermere, some great cafes (we loved Home Ground), pubs and shops. The home is spacious and we liked all of the different areas that we could spend our time in - including quiet outdoor seating, a lovely dining room and a cosy sitting room. This is a great base to explore the Lakes from, we enjoyed our stay very much! Would definitely stay again! Katharine is a fantastic and responsive host.

Location is great - a couple of minutes walk from the local pub (which is well worth a visit) and there are numerous great walks from the doorstep. The cottage was clean, tidy and had everything you could possibly need for a stay in the lakes. It’s a real home from home with Netflix on the TV and various board games to keep you entertained. Jo was super friendly, responsive and all in all a great host. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Had a great couple of days at Strawberry Cottage. The place was clean, cosy, and had all the amenities we could need. The location was fantastic - only a very short walk into Keswick Town Centre. Would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Punchbowl Cottage in Grayrigg. The house was cosy, spotless, and perfect for our family. We've travelled around England a bit, and this was probably the best accommodation we've stayed in so far. It's also a great base for exploring the Lake District – peaceful and beautifully located. And I must say... I completely fell in love with the hand cream from The Bath House! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality Kirsty!

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at Crook a Beck Barn. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. It is well equipped, with a great kitchen, plenty of wardrobe space and a large walk in shower alongside a large bath. It is in a peaceful setting with beautiful views and has all levels of walks available straight from the property. We enjoyed the extras especially the lemon drizzle cake made by Judith. We will definitely books this property again on our next visit to Patterdale.

Coming from the States, we were looking for a quintessential Yorkshire Dales experience: someplace peaceful and quiet with beautiful scenery. This place fit the bill perfectly. The house was very comfortable and we especially loved the shower, beds and comforters. It really is self catered so be sure to bring any cooking staples you will need. Beautiful artwork throughout the house, and some great magazines to read on rainy days. We did have an issue on the second to last day we were there - the power went out for no apparent reason. Luckily we were able to isolate the problem circuit and get things partially working again. Claire was very helpful and arranged for showers we could use in the cabins at the main property down the road. All in all, it was a lovely location and we would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely perfect accommodation for our little trip to Kendal! Easy walking distance into town! The cottage was beautifully presented and the host even left us a little basket of goodies which was a lovely touch! Would 100% stay again

Great value for money, close to city centre, spotless throughout, amazing hot shower, fully equipped kitchen, a home away from home. Loved the personal touches and chocolate brownies. Our absolute favourite accommodation on our trip.

Loved loved loved this stay!! It was so gorgeous and decorated so nicely. The place felt light and airy yet cost in the evenings. The heating was easy to work and the place warmed up very quickly even without the fire which is essential for my girlfriend because she’s always cold. The bed was super comfy and clean, and the robes were a really nice touch. Jennifer as a host was super friendly and responsive! We felt right at home as soon as we arrived. The location was perfect and it was easy to walk to Cartmel village through the fields which cut out walking on the country roads (though they were generally not busy anyway!). Cartmel is a lovely place with nice cafes, pubs and some very fancy restaurants. Overall it was a very special stay for our anniversary - made even more special by the bubbly left for us when we arrived. We would recommend anyone looking for a quite and relaxing few days. The barn was clean, warm and had everything we needed. Great location for day trips to Keswick, Ambleside, Ullswater etc! We had a lovely time and will definitely come back! Thank you :)
