Cottage holiday rentals in Western Cape

We absolutely loved our stay didn’t want to leave, sadly missed out last night due to work, would definitely go back!

We stayed in the Tango cottage at De Wilge for three nights in late April as part of our family trip to the Nuy Valley, Worcester, and Robertson. We were so impressed by Amanda, our hostess, who was warm, friendly, and super knowledgeable about the area… She made excellent recommendations for local outings and she was so kind and welcoming! My wife loved the cottage’s beautiful and tasteful décor and our teenager couldn’t get enough of the hot tub and the stunning mountain views. All in all, a wonderful place to kick back, relax, and unwind. Thank you for having us, Amanda!

What a wonderful unexpected stay. Perfectly located with breathtaking surroundings/ well planned house with everything and more you could possibly need. Probably one if the best (if not the best) air bnb’s we have ever stayed at! Will definitely be back again, if i could give you 10 starts, I would! Thank you

This is really the perfect stay if you want a break away from the city. The farm was quiet, and private. The hot tub and indoor fireplace was the highlight to add that cosiness to a good winter holiday. The cottage was well equipped with everything you need for a short stay. Madri was also a great host and easy to reach when needed.

Lovely place to stay. Great for two legged and your legged kids! and very convenient location.

This is a lovely cottage with a peaceful atmosphere and fantastic mountain views. There were a couple of snags during our stay, but the hosts were quick to respond to any needs

The views of the lake was breathtaking, waking up to the peaceful environment was everything, beautiful place to unwind and reset. The hot tub with those views makes a perfect combo, spacious home with everything you need. Really enjoyed our stay.

Wow! I cannot say what an amazing stay Braam has crafted in this beautiful old house. Every little thing has been thought of. Braam has gone above and beyond to create a lovely spot in Swellendam. The garden is completely closed off for the dogs. He has birds that come throughout the day. The most amazing linen. Extra things for the cold. The house was clean and very well equipped. We will definitely be back. 3 lovely tools in the main house with 1 bathroom, with an extra back room with a bathroom. WiFi and backup power - essential in any stay in South Africa

We really loved our stay - the cottage is quaint, very well equipped and in a beautiful area. We loved that it was fully fenced with so much space for the dogs to run around. The kitchen was really well equipped and the beds were super comfy and clean. John was very friendly and welcoming, and instructions were clear and uncomplicated. We appreciated the welcome treats, thank you, and enjoyed braaing outside on the stoep and making a cosy fire inside - both great fireplaces!

Had one of the best experiences staying at the lovely cottage. Robert and George’s place is a wonder to behold and spend time in. Peaceful, soothing and charming environment to reconnect with what’s really important in life; the present moment, nature and loved ones. The Cottage at Wetlands exceeded my expectations. Everything was so perfect and was great attention to detail. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and would definitely recommend staying there. I know I will be staying there again.

What a tranquil breakaway - went there to work and sitting outside on the patio in the sun watching the birds was amazing. Walks on the farm in the Karoo was breathtaking. My dogs loved it as well. Bishop was so friendly and helpful. Bought some goodies as the olive shop.

We had a great stay at At Patat for the week. It is a well located venue in a secure estate. The house was nice and clean. We struggled a bit with the check in and check out. During check in, the care taker struggled finding our reservation. Then also had my wrong mobile number, and not the one I sent to the owner. On the day of check out, the care take sent us a message 35min before check out saying that we should bring the keys because they want to come and clean for the next visitors. We couldn't find the hair dryer in the house, which was on the listing, so just take your own. Also couldn't find any braai tongs, only a braai grid. Really enjoyed staying and At Patat!

Amazing place. I can’t recommend it more. It had the best view and the apartment was extremely spacious. This should be your no brainer first choice to stay at in Knysna

Kurt is a friendly and responsive host. We were very much surprised with the location and layout of the cottage. It has the most beautiful view from the outside braai area and you really have all you need in the house. Also literally a stone through from the beach. We will definitely book the cottage again. 🏖️

This was the second time that we stayed in this home. It is beautiful and well equipped. It is perfectly located and easy to walk to the Main Street in Franschhoek. We will definitely be back again.

This place is a tucked away jewel of a spot! I was lucky enough to spend my birthday weekend here with my family and I couldn’t have wished for a more peaceful tranquil stunningly beautiful spot. An absolute hidden gem even better than in pics. Mareli was a fantastic host and we spent our weekend walking in the beautiful mountains, braaing and swimming in the clear clean mountain river. Take me back already!

We had a perfect, restful stay in this little gem. The cottage is carefully sited on a rocky hillside overlooking the surprisingly green valley below. Stephanie was the ideal host, and was available throughout. The best part of this place is the indoor/outdoor lifestyle, highlighted by a verandah that felt larger than the home itself. We highly recommend this tranquil getaway, and look forward to our next visit in the future!

We had the most incredible family stay in this beautiful, secluded wildlife estate. The ocean views were breathtaking, and spotting dolphins through the binoculars the host provided was a daily highlight. Our kids loved the animals and nature walks, and the beach—just a short walk away—was perfect even in winter, with warm weather and thoughtful touches like beach chairs and toys. The home was cozy and luxurious, with soft bedlinen, a deep bath, and big showers—pure bliss after a beach day. We loved the Nespresso machine and enjoying cappuccinos on the deck with visits from a fisant and friendly mouse at sunrise. The layout of the home was perfect for quality family time, and we’d copy it for our own house if we could! Huge thanks to Ruth for being a fantastic, responsive host and to Jamal for his help and great communication. A truly unforgettable experience—we can’t wait to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We were a bit surprised by the 10km stretch of public dirt road leading to the farm — we had expected only a few kilometers of gravel once on the property — but it was still perfectly manageable with a sedan. The thoughtful touches on arrival really made us feel welcome: a chilled G&T, the hot tub already heated, and a freshly baked loaf of bread waiting for us. The game drive the next day was a highlight. Uncle Steve shared many fascinating, history-rich spots with us, making the experience both educational and memorable. Next time (when not pregnant!), we’ll definitely take advantage of the kayaking — the lakes are absolutely beautiful — and we’d love to stay longer, as the game drive takes up most of the day. Highly recommended!
