Family-friendly holiday rentals in Waimarino

Great to have a massive grass area out the front for lawn games. The big living area, deck and spa pool also nice. Well layed out house for entertaining and relaxing after our running event. Close to the big carrot / park, would be nice for families too.

Very cozy place and stunningly beautiful location. Unfortunately, the spa broke right before our stay but Imogen let us know and even provided a discount to compensate! Overall wonderful stay and great host

Such a beautiful home with lots of character. Perfect spot for a few families and lots of room for the kids to run around outside. We loved our stay and will be back hopefully next snow season 😊

This has been our favourite AirBNB on our holiday. The home was very comfortable, and the kitchen had all cooking gear you need to prepare a lovely home cooked meal. The beds were very comfy, and loungeroom had plenty of seating for everyone. We used the bikes for a ride around the lake, which was so fun, such a great extra feature of the property. I would 100% book this property again. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time in the house. It was very spacious with all the amenities you need for a perfect stay in the mountains! All the rooms had heaters, kitchen and bathrooms were sparkling clean and the spa was an icing on the cake! And yes on a clear day, the house has some breathtaking views of the mountain! Totally worth it. Will definitely come back again.

We stayed here for a couple of nights as a base to do the Tongariro crossing. Good space with a full kitchen and comfy furniture. National park is not very big so it's a 2 minute walk to the bar/restaurant/shop. Great base for activities. highly recommend.

Stunning view of Mount Ruapehu as you drive to Ohakune! Great region to explore or rest for the night! Kate has a guestbook with everything you need to know about her place, recommendations of where to eat, and what to explore in the area. We needed a night’s rest before driving to Auckland all the way from Wellington, and I’m glad we chose her place. 5 stars!

Wonderful wee railway cottage. Kids cracked up/crapped their pants when the trains roared past in the night but it became part of their norm in no time. Great wee cottage with everything we needed and close to town. Perfect for going up the mountain and super helpful host! Thank you.

Despite an initial hiccup, we had a fantastic time at Tracy and Damien’s home. Tracy was very responsive and helpful. We loved our stay and will hopefully return to stay here again!

Second time staying here and was as good as we remembered. Love the fireplace! Great spot as about 45 minutes from the snow.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Clint was a great and helpful host. We used this place as a base to do the Tongariro Crossing hike. A quick 20 minute drive to the car shuttle parking lot for the hike. Clint also suggested some nice beaches nearby. It was great to have the whole house to ourselves.

House has a lovely feeling to it and is in a great spot, its clean, warm and has everything you need, as if its your own home. We stayed in winter and the fireplace was great. Lisa was so cool to, easy to communicate with and provides all the information you need. Definitely recommend!

The villa we stayed in was well presented with beautiful surroundings. We stayed only for a night but would certainly come back to experience everything the place have to offer.

We had a very pleasant stay at Jenny’s place. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. Jenny took the time to explain everything about the house and made us feel like part of her family. It’s a cozy and warm space with heaters throughout, making it very comfortable, especially during the colder months. The property also offers a lovely view of the mountains and a peaceful farm-style environment. One of the best parts is its location — just a short 30-minute drive to Mount Ruapehu. It’s an ideal spot for families looking to enjoy the snow and cold weather activities. For a family of four, it’s a perfect retreat that combines comfort, convenience, and natural beauty. Great open plan kitchen/living/dining area. BBQ was excellent. Being a group of fisherman, a few hooks around the place etc would have been handy to air out waders at the end of the day....but these sort of things were minor annoyances. Bunk room a little cramped, however all things considered an ideal place for a group of 5-7 anglers. Thanks Kim👍

We had a lovely stay with two couples and a child. it was cosy and the kitchen had everything we needed. there were good heating appliances too and the photos matched the description well. it was good value and would happily recommend to others. thanks Deborah!

Ross was so lovely to us, we arrived late and he was ready to go when we got there and he was even able to suggest some yummy food places around the corner for dinner. The house was tidy and clean and felt super cosy like home. Ross was super kind and gave us an upgrade which we were super happy about! Overall, I would definitely recommend this Airbnb, easy access, beautiful scenery and a trustworthy host.
