Earth house holiday rentals in South India

If you are looking for a leisure vacation without much sightseeing in your plan, i would definitely recommend this place. Its located in a beautiful valley with mountains covered with the clouds and it was a spectacular view. We love the concept of mud house which was built in a very unique way. The caretakers and especially Ambily made sure we were comfortable by all means during our stay.The food was authentic and enjoyed every bit of it. They also arranged transportation for local sightseeing when ever we asked for.We really miss the days spent there. Absolutely love coming back again.

We had stumbled upon a hidden gem in the countryside. My kid enjoyed playing with the dogs and we enjoyed having food under the trees in the open space.

First of all the location of the property was dreamy with views of peaks around which is very nostalgic. The fragrance of the mud inside the house itself takes you a forgotten time line of glorious sustainable past. The manager Ms Ambili was courteous and professional and had so much to share about the property and locality. Food here is commendably delicious. Overall amazing concept stay with warm welcoming staffs and exceptional ambiance. Would definitely recommend anytime!

We had a very memorable stay. the settings are absolutely beautiful, and the accommodation allows you to feel a part of the surrounding nature, with it's design and attention to detail. We fell asleep watching fireflies from the window and woke up watching monkeys. Maulie made us feel right at home, along with the rest of the team serving incredible authentic Sri Lankan food, some of the best from our whole trip. the perfect place to stay for nature lovers, and close enough to easily take trips to sirigiya and other nearby attractions! we hope to return next time in Sri Lanka! many thanks Rory

Skandavan is a jewel for who seeks tranquility , peace and beauty . Much loving attention to details and in perfect harmony with the well kept garden . A place to easy get into a meditative mood . And yet by bicycle , motorbike or TukTuk it’s very easy to explore all what Auroville has to offer . The garden is spacious enough to have privacy also when other guests are there . The shared kitchen is another plus . The staff is very friendly and discreet and keeping the place well clean . Rekha and Michael are great hosts . I’ve been very happy there and I am looking forward to visiting again .

The place is just next to the hills and both directions you find interesting spots to enjoy nature. Wild peacocks, deer and boar crossed my way and a whole bunch of magnificent birds. I recommend walking all east and follow the paths to the major temple 1,5h walking distance. Besides really enjoyed the between in/outdoor shower.

The stay was amazing and the location was serene. Perfect for friends get-together amidst the forest, river streams and dam is walkable. They have a cook from a nearby village who makes great South Indian food and the care taker was very helpful and kind. Overall had a wonderful time in this stay.

The bungalow is an old one, but it is also an extremely well maintained one. The stay was cozy and food and amenities were good. The place is located about 1:30hrs away for most tourist destinations and is great to simply relax. Hospitality was great and the host (sam) was available for any needs we had. Would recommend this place.

I stayed for quite a long time at this place. The host PUSHPA ma’am is very caring, friendly and a warm person. I felt “at home”.Meeting her and talking to her itself was a wonderful experience. She cooks yummy South Indian dishes. I m glad I met her in my journey. Home is earthy, clean, beautiful, surrounded by greens. Feels very grounded.

The place is awesome exactly as shown in the pics. It’s not the place which made our stay amazing, it was the care taker Sivadas who made it memorable. Shivadas is one awesome proactive care taker available 24/7 for any help. Shivadas and wife Lata have excellent culinary skills you don’t have to find any restaurant for any food. From mutton to dosa everything was finger lickingly tasty. This will be our go to place in Ooty. Thank you Nisha and team!!

Medha was really a great host and very supportive about everything. The caretaker Tapan was really nice guy. Really enjoyed the staying. Only thing you have to careful is the insects 😃😃

Well ventilated, well maintained. House help was available who was really polite and helpful. Almost in the middle of HSR layout. Homely atmosphere. Peaceful, away from traffic. Good internet speed, was able to work without any issues.

Well how do I start this off... we had the greatest ever experience here with a top host named Rukmal. The hospitality provided was out of this world along with the food provided. If you are looking for a safari adventure like we was you are in great hands with Rukmal. He certainly knew his stuff well living in the wildlife for many years he filled us with great knowledge and inspiration. I’d highly recommend hiring out his clay hut for the night and perusing on to the beautiful safari only a few minutes away. We’d like to finish off by saying thank you so much and we’d love to book a camping stay out with you in the near future. Massive big ups to your fine self and let’s keep in touch! The Khangkar house by Tenzin is an absolute delight! The host was responsive, helpful and very accommodating of our group which included two dogs. Very easy to find. The spaces are wonderfully designed and relaxing.. Perfect for a getaway. It was almost like staying in a bubble. Our dogs had the best time as well. The kitchen staff produced great meals and service during our stay. The pool was clean and well maintained. For anything else one may need, there are many options in close proximity to the home. All in all, a great experience at a stunning property that I would highly recommend and return to in the future!

This is an amazing place! The room is most comfortable, has a magnificent view on the trees and hills and has an exclusive ambiance. The bed is nicely soft and while waking up by the sound of birds, there is a nice cool breeze. The decoration is stylish and the bathroom is clean, comfortable and large. Both the hosts are very friendly and nice company for conversation on all types of topics. At night they invited us to have a drink near the campfire which was most enjoyable and fun! It’s also a perfect place from which one can experience Wayanads wildparks. I would highly recommend to have an visit here.

I had a truly wonderful stay! The place was clean, peaceful, and very well-maintained. Padmavathi was an incredibly kind and thoughtful host, always making sure we were comfortable. The home-cooked meals were a highlight—delicious, organic, and made with so much care, especially the lunch with fresh terrace-grown vegetables. I felt completely at home here. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cozy and nourishing stay!

Really enjoyed the stay at this charming retreat. The serene atmosphere provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The mud house accommodation was unique and comfortable, adding a rustic charm to the experience. The breakfast was very delicious. The pool area was also a highlight, offering a refreshing place to relax. While there was a slight lack of maintenance in the grounds, likely due to the off-season, it didn't significantly detract from the overall experience. Despite this minor issue, the stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Gabbar Singh takes care of the place. Well maintained and cozy room with a plunge pool. Amazing horses and an amazing dog called Minnie. They had provided local recommendations as well which was cherry on the top. In all this find in Hospet is one of its kind and please don't look twice and go for it guys!

We had a lovely stay at Gargi's place. It was exactly as described in the listing. The house itself is very unique built with lots of attention to sustainability, reusability. The family's own creativity, vision and positive vibes are reflected in the place. Our room was clean, cool and comfortable with all amenities(incl much needed cooler). The sit-out attached to the room was really nice. Gargi and family were very warm and welcoming, they made us feel right at home and relaxed during what was a stressful time for us. They gave us a little tour of their house, how they went about it and all the little projects they had going on. We bought some of Gargi's beautiful creations. Thanks also for accepting our request for a late checkout. Last but not the least, I highly recommend the very tasty food, prepared with lots of care and consideration. We had specific dietary needs and they went out of their way to accommodate it. We enjoyed the food and all the conversations around it.

Loved the place. Rustic but surrounded by nature. Crystal - the naturalist and manager looked after us well. Cottages are built of rammed earth which kept room cool. Bathrooms were clean and place is done up nicely. We enjoyed the morning nature walk. Food was basic but delicious. Enjoyed the ragi mudas for lunch :)

schöne Unterkunft mit einem riesigen Garten und eigenem Balkon. Zimmer hatte auch eine Klimaanlage. Die Lage war etwas außerhalb, Supermarkt und Restaurants waren aber zu Fuß erreichbar. Wir haben auch Empfehlungen bekommen was wir für Sehenswürdigkeiten anschauen könnten. Es hätte sogar die Möglichkeit bestanden, dass direkt Touren gebucht werden mit Abholung in der Unterkunft, auch können direkt Tuktuks organisiert werden, jedoch sind diese teurer als wenn man selber zur Straße vor geht. Wegen einer Doppelbuchung müssten wir unser Zimmer 1 Tag früher verlassen, jedoch wurde sich um eine Alternative im Ort gekümmert und wir haben das Frühstück gratis bekommen. Es war ein schöner Aufenthalt dort.

Prakruthi homestay is an earth lovers paradise. Each and every space is thoughtfully planned to conserve water and energy, and decorated with Rajesh's personal antiques collection. The doors and windows are pieces of history brought to life. Rajesh is a wonderful host. He cooked us a yummy lunch. The dinner provided by his neighbour was also delicious. As fellow airbnb hosts we had a lot of experiences to share and he gave us a lot of tips on hosting as well. The stay refreshed and rejuvenated our minds and spirit. We'll definitely be coming back.
