Family-friendly holiday rentals in San Juan County

Very nice. Comfortable bedrooms and excellent beds. The kitchen is well equipped. It’s a small space, but for one person, it’s easy to use. The location gave us out-of- the-door access to hikes to Cascade Lake and Mt. Constitution trails and walks to Rosario Resort directly below. Unfortunately, the hotel and restaurant remain closed, but the Grill is open five days a week with a excellent food.

This was my second stay at this venue and I already knew what to expect this second time and it certainly didn't disappoint. Liza is great and I appreciated the quick responsiveness and clarity of the answers to any questions that arose during both visits. Actually Liza was out of town for this visit but the house sitter Sue who she used was always right on top of things as well. It was very comforting to know Liza has an excellent back up in the event of her absence for any reason. As far as the amenities are concerned the high points of the place are the wood fired sauna, hot tub, piece and quiet and great view from the porch. The hike up Mt. Grant Preserve is really convenient and offers a great view from the top. I highly recommend this place.

Our family booked a last minute getaway to Karen and Chuck’s home and we had such a relaxing weekend away. Their home truly has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The photos really don’t do it justice! We all slept amazingly well in the comfy beds, listening to the sounds of the waves. We spent our time wandering shops of Coupeville, looking for seals on the deck, enjoying wonderful dinners and playing games together. When we saw there was an issue with the hot tub, our hosts responded lightening fast with a phone call to discuss. We are so thankful to Karen and Chuck for opening up their home to us and we hope to return soon!

Our family came to Orcas Island for the wedding of our nephew at Cascade lake. The house was perfect...very close to the venue so we could take the 1 year old back for naps and bedtime and then return to the festivities. The space was as described, the wildlife and hot tub wonderful and the host responsive and friendly. We would stay here again.

Wow, what an incredible property!! We had a wonderful stay and very much enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen, expansive deck, beautiful grounds, and private beach. It was such a peaceful place to spend a few days, and we hope to return. We were three families with three small children, and it was a perfect place for them to run around. Thank you Don and Kathy for opening your home up to us.

Isle of Skye is a beautiful home with incredible views of the surrounding islands and water. Our family of six had a great time enjoying the decks and open spaces. Huge kitchen with everything you need. Everyone loved the modern vibe of the house with soaring ceilings and beautiful wood. Northwest Vacations did a great job as the host. There is so much to do on Orcas- we kayaked in West sound, hiked Turtleback Mountain, went for a run around Mountain Lake, drove to the top of Mount Constitution with incredible views, rented bikes and rode the 40 mile loop on San Juan Island, and the list goes on. I highly recommend Captain Liberty, fifth generation Orcas Islander, who is a boat captain for fishing, whale watching and island hopping.

My extended family enjoyed every minute at Jennifer's place. She was a fantastic host- excellent communication, friendly and generous. The view from the house is amazing and the property peaceful. The kitchen is very well stocked and we enjoyed cooking dinners in. The beds were comfortable and we all had plenty of space. We enjoyed the firepit, the hot tub, the goats and chickens, and the fresh garden. We were lucky enough to see the new baby chicks that had just arrived. We could not have asked for anything more from this stay. This is a very special place and we're grateful that Jennifer shared it with us.

We had such a great stay on the property! We loved exploring the land with our dog. There were plenty of walking trails in the wooded forest surrounding the house. We spent so much time on the deck drinking coffee, eating all our meals, and just hanging out while our dog lounged in the grass. This is the kind of AirBnb that has so many extra amenities beyond the basics, especially in the kitchen. There were so many spices and oils and cookware so all our group meals were easy to make. The location was perfect for us, peaceful surroundings and only a 10-15 minute drive to any part of the island. We even did a small hike very close by, not even a 2 minute drive. Overall, we highly recommend Andrew's place!

My third visit to the cottage in the barn, and I continue to fall deeper in love with it and with Orcas. I appreciate being just a bit away from town and how quiet and peaceful it is here. The little winery down the street is great fun, and the Lum farm has fresh goodies and you can visit with their animals! it's a gorgeous little home away from home and having the huge property to walk around with my pup is a big part of the draw for me. Well equipped kitchen with coffee supplies and spices, wraps, BYO oils and such for cooking. Love love and will be back as soon as I am able. Thanks, Susan!

As others have said, the location in the heart of Eastsound cannot be beat and the view is spectacular. I could have sat on the balcony all weekend and watched the water. The loft was extremely clean and cozy, perfect for two.

Jana's place was fantastic! We stayed for a week, and enjoyed it thoroughly. The RV has a comfy bed, and everything you need to cook a little get clean, and enjoy. We brought our little Webster grill and a propane fire pit (which we camp with because of fire bans) and it was perfect. We also were able to put our kayaks into the water and paddle the bay right there.... Beautiful. And if you're into wildlife, you'll catch eagles, herons and kingfishers frequently flying by, deer who wander through, and seals swimming by. Most spectacularly, I had seven river otters swim about 10 feet away from me when sitting by the water at dusk one night. Also appreciated the proximity to the ferry so we can easily get a spot in line.thank you for your hospitality!

Sure! Here’s a simple and straightforward version: ⸻ We had a wonderful stay! The home was clean, cozy, and stocked with everything you could need. Our hosts offered an early check-in, which was so helpful after our long morning. The setup was great for families or groups, with king-size beds in every room. The hosts also gave great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. We’ll definitely be back with even more people! Highly recommend!

The unit is very comfortable with great views overlooking the bay. We appreciated having the outdoor patio area fully enclosed for our dogs as well. Another plus-the location of the unit right in town within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The market is right across the street. Another great feature of the place is that it is ADA compliant. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Orcas next time.

Nigel's place was beautiful, with lovely views and a great yard for relaxing in. The neighborhood is peaceful and just a few minutes to Friday Harbor. Everything inside is comfortable and has many nice touches. Nigel was very responsive and accommodating when we had a last minute change. Our family would definitely recommend Nigel's and hope to stay again!

Yuri is a fantastic host. He was very easy to communicate with and provided so many wonderful recommendations from restaurants to things to do. We have been visiting Orcas Island for many years now, and Yuri introduced us to new places and hikes. The condo was just as pictured and described. So many nice extras. The view from the balcony was beautiful. It was very peaceful. It was extremely clean and comfortable, like home. The bed was comfortable and all the lines were extremely soft. We will be back!

We had a fantastic stay in the studio! Yuri was super communicative before and during our stay. It would have taken us two weeks (more time than we had) to try all of his recommendations. The ones we did try did not disappoint. The units are located in a fantastic part of the island. While 15 min from most restaurants and shopping, their proximity to Moran Park is unbeatable. Our unit was extremely comfortable (bedding, bath) and the thoughtful amenities were welcome after a long day. The WIFI was fantastic and the main reason we were willing to pay a little more than we usually do - as we needed to video conference for work. The only time it was slow was when trying to change our ferry tickets at 7 am - so head Yuri's suggestion and be ready to to at 6:58 am. We had a slight hiccup with the washer/dryer situation (it was out of order), but Yuri's property manager April was super and allowed us to use the commercial W/D located just outside our door. Thanks for everything!

Beautiful property! View from balcony was so peaceful and stunning. Beds were so comfortable. Extras we enjoyed…lush towels, bottled water, snacks, ice maker and a Nespresso machine including cream and sugar! We even got a message from Yuri around 1pm saying the condo was ready if we wanted to check in early! First time visiting the island and will definitely book again if available!

What a great spot! Nestled in the woods in a peaceful and quiet setting this place is truly one-of-a-kind. The house is very unique with lots of character that sets it apart from the usual stays. It was clean and had all we needed. Our host Gramma Rikki was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and we could not take advantage of all the outdoor spaces and amenities. We played pool, sat by the cozy fire and did some island exploring by car. All in all it was a very enjoyable and relaxing getaway despite the crummy weather. We hope to return one day and experience everything this wonderful place has to offer.

We were very grateful for Yuri’s detailed notes regarding finding the condo, getting in, being extra careful about all the tree sap, etc. We especially loved his descriptions of the local restaurants, sights and activities!!! We followed his recommendations and had excellent meals and adventures. The place is filled with his wife’s incredible art. We both feel renewed from our week on Orcas Island!
