Small, self contained, clean and quiet cedar cottage with deck. Suitable for singles or a couple only. Sleeping loft, small kitchenette, shower, toilet, sink. No smoking. Wi-Fi, no TV, MP3 player/radio, a guitar to noodle on, and lots of books! The cottage is reached by pathway, and is backed by neighboring woods. Please note that the path to the cottage is sloped and the stairway to the loft is rather steep, therefore the cottage is not suited for the mobility impaired. Bedding is cotton and down. Our feline companion Belle is a regular visitor to the cottage. People say they've had their best sleep ever in the loft! The spring water through our taps is sweet, and the ocean climate is temperate. The essentials (coffee, tea, cream, local bread and eggs, butter, jam) for your first breakfast are provided; please take advantage of the abundant choices of local produce, cheeses, baked goods, wines and brewery for other meals. We live on the property in a quiet neighborhood on the south part of the island, within easy walking distance of numerous beaches. This is a popular departure point for day kayaking in the Gulf Island National Marine Park reserve. Hike in nearby (5 min drive) oceanfront Ruckle and Beaver Pt Provincial Parks, cycle, enjoy shops and restaurants in funky Fulford Harbour (10 min) and more cosmopolitan Ganges (20 min). The summer Saturday Farmer's Market is famous. Three swimming lakes are within a 10 minute drive. Minutes from Beaver Point Community Hall. Not suited for very small children, or those who are adverse to nature! Sorry, no pets or smoking on the property. Tips: Even on the hottest days, the ocean cools the evening air. Best cellular coverage is with Telus. Ferry reservations are recommended during summer months. Sorry, no public transit nearby. Bring some good walking shoes! The quintessence of Salt Spring Island living is a 20 minute walk - Kizmet Galleria and Café, Thursday to Sunday, 11 - 5'ish. Closed during winter months. Highly recommended!! Small grocery and liquor store in Fulford Harbour, closes at 6 pm. Main amenities are in Ganges - two large grocery stores, liquor stores, health food store, gas stations. No 24 hour stores! If you plan to arrive on island in the evening, you should bring groceries for dinner, or enjoy an island restaurant in Fulford Harbour (Rock Salt Cafe) or in Ganges (many choices). Gas is often more expensive on Salt Spring Island. Fill up before you get on the ferry!
“This place was basically a dream come true. We stayed here for one week and loved every minute of it. Great location if you want something a bit more secluded with a short walk to beautiful beaches. Karen was a great host and her breakfast basket was such a generous offering, as was the vase of fresh flowers upon our arrival. Oh and the daily visits from the cat and hummingbirds were more than welcomed! Don’t hesitate if you are thinking about booking. Perfect little cabin in the perfect little place. Hope to return soon!”
Newly decorated studio situated in a separate building to our main home. Good privacy. Comprises a queen size bed, kitchenette and bathroom with shower. Patio area with a lovely view of our fruit, veggies, flower garden, and rolling meadows. We don't serve breakfast but you'll find coffee and teas to make your morning wake up at your convenience. Easy access to Fulford ferry, hiking trails, vineyards, and local brewery. Enjoy our Salt Spring Island Market on Saturday!
“With a warm welcome from our host, Zsolt, (and his friendly cat) our stay was better than I expected. Armed with plenty of local knowledge and tips for our stay from our host, the accommodation is in a convenient spot not too far from both Fulford and Ganges, good for exploring. The little cabin was warm and the perfect size for us. I slept so well in the comfy bed the past two nights, would stay again.”
Our cabin is located on a hill. It is private, has a full bath and kitchen with total privacy. You are close to ganges or you can walk to the yoga center. There is wifi, BBQ, fireplace, heat pump with air conditioning, wrap around deck and a sweetness that you might not want to leave.
“This sanctuary really is a happy nest! It met and exceeded our expectations in every regard. The bath, the wood stove, the location, the light, the privacy...everything was just perfect for a getaway for one or two! And Kathe and Bruce were very kind and responsive. We'll definitely be back. Note: a car is really an asset for this location, as while it would be possible to walk to Ganges, it's a bit of a ways and nice to be able to further explore the island. We found the location to be ideal.”
