Family-friendly holiday rentals in Salt Spring Island

We had a wonderful stay! We loved that there are trails accessible by foot from the cabin. (Just walk up the gravel road about 3 minutes.) We discovered that a great morning routine for us was to have coffee, walk through the forest, enjoy the morning light on the ocean, and head back to the cabin for breakfast. Peaceful and relaxing :) Henny is a great host. She shared a ton of wonderful information about places to go and yummy restaurants on the island. The cabin itself is cozy, charming, and quiet. The bed is comfortable, a high priority for me! We also appreciated that we could bring our dog and that she could be off-leash in the grassy area around the cabin.

I stayed here with my Mom and two sisters- it was perfect! The hot tub overlooks the beach and is under a gorgeous canopy of trees that kept us dry from the rain. We had hummingbirds and quails visit us while we ate breakfast on the patio under a wisteria tree. The house is very cozy with everything you need and so many interesting things to look at. We went to Duncan and spent the day at the Farmer's Market, then had dinner just down the street, overlooking the water, while watching seals and birds fish. We are already discussing making the trip an annual event and plan to go again next year!

We stayed at Cusheon Lake Resort while on Saltspring for work. Glen met us to make sure that we had our orientation as we checked in. We stayed in cabin 2 and it was stunning - a beautiful space, comfortable, peaceful and with a beautiful view of the lake. One of us stayed on the sofa bed which was great for our needs. Having a kitchen available to us was also a big benefit to us as we worked long hours. It was such a treat to come back to a hot tub & sauna after a long day’s work. We also made use of the paddle boards for an early morning paddle. We loved our stay here and look forward to our next!

We enjoyed a quite few days on the point. The property is beautiful with lots of options for accessing the water. We enjoyed staring at the strait from the hottub and looking for otters as well as plenty of other sea life post hiking nearby. Hosts are friendly and welcoming. The loft is cozy and well equipped. We will come back!

The little cabin remains an absolute treasure. I first came here 17 years ago and it remains as wonderful as ever, impeccably cared for and very private. The view from the deck is breathtaking and the hammocks are a special treat!

This was my second stay at this venue and I already knew what to expect this second time and it certainly didn't disappoint. Liza is great and I appreciated the quick responsiveness and clarity of the answers to any questions that arose during both visits. Actually Liza was out of town for this visit but the house sitter Sue who she used was always right on top of things as well. It was very comforting to know Liza has an excellent back up in the event of her absence for any reason. As far as the amenities are concerned the high points of the place are the wood fired sauna, hot tub, piece and quiet and great view from the porch. The hike up Mt. Grant Preserve is really convenient and offers a great view from the top. I highly recommend this place.

We had a wonderful stay at Jane’s ! The suite is close to the the Cowichan Valley Trail ( part of the Trans Canada Trail ) which we cycled for 2 days. Also close to town and restaurants and the famous totems of Duncan. Lots of lovely touches and a very comfortable bed . Would highly recommend Jane’s air bnb .

Carol’s place was AMAZING! The kitchen had everything needed to make meals for dining in, which we did a lot of because THAT VIEW!! We didn’t want to leave, just wanted to sit and watch for marine life. We saw seals, dolphins, eagles, and a family of 6 sea otters playing. When the evening started to cool we moved our binoculars to the hot tub to continue enjoying the views and serenity. My family agreed the beds were comfy and we all slept well. If you are looking for a go go go vacay Pender Island is not your place. If you want easy hikes in gorgeous surroundings, peace that reaches your very core, and super friendly people I definitely recommend Pender Island! The didc golf course has discs for public use and was really fun! Driftwood shopping center has all you will need. We recommend Sea Star Winery and a stop at Bee Wild distillery for tastings. We HIGHLY recommend Carol’s place!

Scott and Kim are lovely hosts and the little house is absolutely charming and comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout. At the right time of year in this idyllic setting you'll wake to birdsong and tuck in to the muted chorus of frogs. A wonderful base for exploring San Juan Island or perfectly situated for the annual Lakedale Triathlon. We hope to return.

Priceless views and amazing architecture are showpieces of this magnificent home that combines coziness, elegance, comfort and rustic charm. We’ve stayed at many airbnbs, but this one is a new favorite. It’s an ideal getaway for the whole family; plus it’s close to interesting hikes and restaurants. The kitchen is well stocked for eating at home. We didn’t enjoy the taste of the well water, but bought drinking water at Tru Value. Carley was very responsive and helpful throughout. We would love to come back in the summer.

Kevan's home is thoughtfully decorated, cozy and comfortable. There is lots of seating, indoors and out making it a great place for our family to hang out together. The kitchen is fully equipped, and all appliances function well. The beds are comfortable and everyone slept well. The standout is the spectacular garden. A true oasis. I have to say that this was the BEST Airbnb experience I’ve ever had. Everything was so artfully curated and I felt like I never wanted to leave. Kate is a great person and I would definitely recommend taking her up on her horse lessons. I’ve been riding my whole life and she is a fountain of knowledge in so many ways. I would definitely recommend coming to stay at her cottage and see for yourself the care and beauty of the land and what orcas has to offer. I will definitely be back!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Kelly’s suite by the sea! The space was even better than we expected - appears to be recently renovated with modern finishes, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. Kelly was super responsive, helpful, and genuinely accommodating throughout our stay. The location was great, I would 100% stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, hassle-free stay!

We’ve stayed at the Inn Of the Sea many time and been lucky to stay at both of Tammy’s condos. We come and go from the area all the time for work and it’s hard to go back to a hotel after discovering the condos.

What a great spot! Nestled in the woods in a peaceful and quiet setting this place is truly one-of-a-kind. The house is very unique with lots of character that sets it apart from the usual stays. It was clean and had all we needed. Our host Gramma Rikki was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and we could not take advantage of all the outdoor spaces and amenities. We played pool, sat by the cozy fire and did some island exploring by car. All in all it was a very enjoyable and relaxing getaway despite the crummy weather. We hope to return one day and experience everything this wonderful place has to offer.

We had a wonderful stay. Carlene was easy and quick to communicate such, the cottage had everything we needed, and we loved sitting on the deck enjoying the view. The resort the cottage is part of was helpful since we had our 10-year-old with us. The pool is a big reason we booked here, and the lawn games were an extra bonus we hadn’t expected. We even got to see an otter below the marina dock on our first day - a perfect sighting in Otter Bay!

Derek’s place was very clean and cozy. It was very welcoming and we felt like home when we stayed at his place. My family were very comfortable while staying there and Derek was also easy to communicate wiith. Overall we had a wonderful time.
