My friend and I highly recommend this place. The house is large, attractive, and comfortable. The location is great, right in the center of the small village. And the village! It's ideal: a beautiful old church, castle, and river with curving stone bridge. We walked from the house to the Voie Verte, and along it in both directions on two days. For an excursion by car, Brantome and Bourdeilles are beautiful towns with fine sights. A note of warning about the restaurants: opening times were spotty in late April, sometimes not open as advertised, and booking is necessary for dinner if you want to be sure. The Vidal grocery store was very useful and has fresh baguettes every morning.

The cottage Le Petit St Jean perfectly fulfills its promises, it is spacious, comfortable, warm & perfectly equipped, nothing is missing! You immediately feel "at home" there. Its location is ideal, facing the beautiful Château de la Marthonie, in the heart of the action of this charming little village, which includes some good restaurants, a charming literary café, small shops and galleries, as well as very good local products right at the foot of the cottage! In addition, Vincent & Jean-Francois are very welcoming, friendly and available, which makes the stay all the more enjoyable! We recommend it 100%! Véro & Denis
