The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
The County of San Bernardino is advising that individualized short-term rental units (STRs, e.g. units secured via Airbnb, Vrbo, etc.) are allowed to operate during Covid-19, provided: - Occupancy of each unit is limited to members of a single household. (this means that you can only stay with family, roommates or other people that you've been sheltering in place with). - Units are sanitized prior to each occupancy. - County Codes governing STRs are observed This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in 1949. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • Sara & Rich's accommodations were immaculate. From every single room presenting its own unique aesthetic, our group was taken away by the natural charm within a fun desert house.

  • It is a beautiful and unique place. Very peaceful. You wake up in the morning with a beautiful sunrise, birds singing in your window and bunnies on your garden enjoying the first rays of sun. The house is unique. Very cool and comfortable. Also is very technologic but you do not realise until you get there. The beds were the mostly comfortable and soft beds I ever slept in. We are definitely coming back. We had the best experience. Sara and rich are very kind and always answer very fast if you have any question. I recommend it 100%.

    Mer2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous house down to every detail. It was super clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. Seemed even nicer than the posting in real life! We will definitely be coming back.

  • The Joshua Tree House was a beautiful, meditative sanctuary in the desert! My friends and I had a great time just hanging out on the porch watching the sunrise, prepping meals together, and watching the stars from the hot tub. The coffee was delicious and the sound system was great. It’s very close to many shops and restaurants. We all want to come back!

    Kacy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sara & Rich's place is the perfect place for a desert getaway. It provides an awesome setting, perfect in every way. Very close to great places to shop, eat and explore.

  • I had the best time here with my husband and 3 year old. We felt right at home in this gorgeous house and used all it had to offer. Naps in the hammock, made a fire at night, cooked every day, hot tub at night, views, sunshine, record player, lovely backyard... we will be back. It was such a treat.

    Paula2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. There aren’t good enough words to explain the magical stay we had at this incredible home. It will exceed every expectation you can have. The star gazing in the hot tub, the beds, the decor, every bit of this entire experience was beautiful. This is not just a place to stay but a work of art to enjoy. So worth every penny.

    Sara2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute dream. Perfect stay in every way for a girls weekend away. We enjoyed the hot tub, the rooms were sparkling clean and the beds were truly comfy as can be. Such a joy to relax in such a perfectly styled home on a lovely Joshua Tree lot, close to everything. Outstanding!

    Joshua Tree, CA, United States

March 15, 29 - April 1st now open. There has been a lot of concern about the Covid-19 virus. We are now sterilizing the hard surfaces in our listings. We are quite isolated here so your exposure risks are much lower than in a city. If you have been exposed to it, please don't make a reservation. We have been listing the Mushroom Dome Cabin with airbnb since July '09 and have had the most reservations of any of their listings - in the world. We have had over 5,000 guests from over 50 countries.
As we are no longer allowed by Santa Cruz county to rent the Mushroom Dome Cabin, we are now listing the LAND of Paradise Suite, a room in our unique home. (LAND: Love And Nature Divine) Make a reservation for the Suite, you will also have unlimited access to the Mushroom Dome.We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds on our deck, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; - ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 6-11 months in advance. We have another listing: the Hummingbird Haven. It usually has more availability. You can find it here: airbnb.com/rooms/6562632 (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic retreat space has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable meditation and/or sleeping and just hanging out. We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. In the LAND of Paradise Suite, is a double bed as well as a fold out bed, a small fridge, an electric tea kettle, teas, and coffee. Let me know if you want to cook meals here and I'll tell you how. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. On the main floor of the Meditation Mushroom retreat (a Pentagon) is the couch a pull-out table and 2 chairs. We provide a small refrigerator, a Hot Air Popcorn Popper (and the kernels), French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, a wine opener, dishes - and more. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If you stay here for more than 1 night, you may need to change the pee bucket. We will do it for you if you want, but we do need you to pay attention to the pee level so it doesn't overflow! If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; - ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends: Friday to Sunday. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M. L. King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, New Leaf (a very large natural food store), restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Forest Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; - ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 300 - 600 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 130 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking or vaping in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 8 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • The Mushroom Dome is exactly as magical as described and was just the getaway I was looking for. The location is fantastic; secluded enough to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings while being close enough to town for all the food and groceries I needed. Not only did I enjoy the trails on the property, but I also appreciated the sizable DVD collection provided. Kitty & Michael were extremely attentive hosts and had great food and activity recommendations in the area. I would definitely love to return. (Oh, and that bed is super comfortable!)

    Chris2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Magical place, closer to Capitola and to great beaches! The mushroom dome is unique, very comfortable and Kitty is a sweetheart. Her dog Elliot is also a formidable companion :) The place invites you to disconnect, enjoy nature, cook, rest. It was the perfect setting to celebrate my partner’s birthday!

    Alisson2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty gave clear directions on how to get to the cabin and even personally met us at the driveway so we could get to know our hostess which was so nice. We were a little put off by the idea of a compostable toilet but after experiencing one and how clean and easy it seemed to maintain we're looking into replacing our standard toilet for a compostable one as well! Her cat milo was so friendly, although I'm allergic I couldn't help but show some love...and take some claritin! The landscaping was breathtaking throughout. Can't wait to come back with a book or two to read and enjoy in the garden. Kitty has a rulebook put together which some may find daunting...but if you read through the rules are pretty common sense. We loved her sense of humor and are looking forward to booking again soon.

  • Quiet, relaxing and quirky...enjoyed my stay!

    Heidi2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever encountered. Such a serene and beautiful environment. Kitty and Michael are incredible hosts and made us feel extremely welcome.

    Kitzia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very great hosts and Kitty will take the extra time to welcome you and provide a little history about the place. The environment is serene and relaxing especially sitting on the deck drinking coffee and or having breakfast.

    Nada2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Even if you expect it to be perfect, Kitty & Michael will give your time a chance to expand your concept of perfection

    Paul2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty and Michael are gracious, kind-hearted super hosts. You will fall in love with the Mushroom Dome; my two friends and I felt at-home very quickly. The location is beautiful, the hosts are absolutely lovely, and the place itself is breathtaking. The bed upstairs is super comfortable and the shower is pleasant as well, with water that warms up right away. The Mushroom Dome is incredibly charming, and hearing about it’s history from Kitty adds another element of awe to your experience. This was my friends’ and I first AriBnB experience, and we feel so lucky to have chosen such a perfect place. None of us stumbled across any issues with our stay, and our entire trip was smooth and enjoyable. If you find dates that work for you, I urge you to book, I can’t imagine anyone regretting this stay!

This inspired dwelling nestled right into the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge mountainside. Reverently framed by the iconic round doorway, the wondrous views will entrance your imagination and inspire an unforgettable journey. Every nook of this little habitation will warm your sole, every cranny will charm your expedition of repose. Up the pathway, tucked into the earth, an unbelievable adventure awaits!
The majority of your neighbors will be deer, rabbits, birds & grouse. It's 2 miles up the mountain and although there are houses it gets more remote the closer you get to the hobbit hole.
  • The hobbit house was so fun and well appropriated. It was a wonderful experience and the view was absolutely amazing!

    Julie2020-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing place for anyone who wants to be a hobbit for a day/weekend/week. The location and view are both so beautiful and the attention to the details that are put into the hole really made the trip so much better. Kristie was very responsive and very helpful. There's limited cell service in the area so bring some off the grid activities to pass the time. Highly recommend and will most likely be back in the future. 10/10

    Joe2020-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were supposed to be in New Zealand on vacation but pandemics happen... this little find was a silver lining. Most adorable, unique place I've ever stayed! Amazing view. The attention to detail inside the hobbit inn is quite impressive and so entertaining. Truly off grid and was a great adventure for the weekend!

    Maria2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • "Magical" feels like a short-sell for this beautifully crafted getaway. The view is ridiculous, and the experience sublime for talking, reading, smoking a pipe perhaps, and a much-needed exhale. Thank you, Kristie, for your beautiful work and hospitality!

    Andrea2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Obsessed with this place! Must come back again!! Everyone asking me where I took those pictures! So beautiful here!

    Anna2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely worth it! I’m recommending it to everyone!

    Abigail2020-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you enjoy a great view and are a Tolkien fan this is not to be missed! Read instructions for getting there carefully ahead of time and rely on those for the last couple of miles as as you probably won’t have cell coverage and GPS turn by turn won’t quite get you there. We brought a telescope and had a wonderful sky at night. Fun book of riddles and chess. 10/10 would hobbit again.

    Will2020-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • It doesn't get a lot more unique than this! It's pricey and will require a bit of effort to haul fuel up the hill and figure out the systems, but you'll know if this unforgettable experience is worth it to you, and I hope for your sake that it is. The week preceeding our visit was warm and dry, and the roads were dry but rutted, so I appreciated that we were not in a 2wd car. It still got cold at night, and we were grateful we had brought longjohns. We were also glad we brought snacks and breakfast. The kettle works like a champ for heating water. We appreciated the cocoa, tea, and coffee, and read a few stories from one of the books provided (though none of the series was there during our visit, so bring your own if you want them). So glad I splurged on this most unique place to stay!

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.

  • Unlike any other Airbnb listing you'll find. If you crave calm and relaxation, this is the perfect place. I finished an entire book and a 1000 piece puzzle during my 2-night stay. The unobstructed dessert views transform any activity into pure magic. Come here to slow down and completely unplug.

    Karen2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's home is an incredible home. Watching the sun rise over the high desert is a once in a lifetime experience. Living off grid is something we all must try to help us check our living habits. Highly recommend this Air BnB.

    Jeff2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place is simply amazing, the setting is private and the views of the desert and the mountains beyond are uninterrupted. The house is an architectural gem with all the basic necessities. Stayed there for 4 nights, and will definitely come back.

    Alex2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • There is something to be said about Linda’s home and the way it pulls in the beauty of the desert into every room of the house. It is as if the outside is some how inside. It is extremely special. The off grid feature is still very secure with the certainty of water, electricity and wifi. Linda has been extremely easy and quick with her communication, before and during my trip. (Thanks Linda!) I recommend staying here as long as you possibly can. I also recommend food shopping before arriving at the house. You will not regret buying firewood while you’re at it. It can get pretty cold inside in the winter. There is a Vons on 29 Palms. I think that’s the closest super market. It will take you around 20 minutes to get there from the house.

    Marika2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway weekend from Los Angeles! House is exactly as described in photos. A few tips for packing if you book this trip: - Firewood and matches (indoor fireplace was highlight of our stay) - Water or Brita (no filtration in the house) - Warm and cool clothes (temperatures swing greatly)

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do not allow pets, we will consider requests to allow 1 small pet with prior approval and acceptance of rules and policies. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • This place is just magical. We stayed one night and from the moment we arrived at the property, we were mesmerized by its beauty, unique architecture, beautiful grounds, and overall sense of bliss, peace, and good energy. The silo studio is so romantic, so lovely and cozy. The space is heated, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom is great, everything about it is just A++++ Worth every penny! Do it! You won’t regret it!

Upon arrival, let the red cinder path be your yellow brick road as you are lead through the jungle to your personal paradise. At ground level you will encounter a hanging bed, suspended beneath the floor of your new living quarters. Stop and relax or continue up the staircase to the trapdoor. It is through this trapdoor that you are allowed access to the lanai amongst the canopy of trees. A beautiful wrap around lanai allows for a 360 degree view of the lush jungle, while two sliding glass doors grant access to the bedroom. Upon entering, you will notice that the generous windows and doors allow for natural sunlight to flood into the house, complementing the bamboo fixtures and vintage 1970s wallpaper that backs the bed. The white bed linens reflect the light giving a dreamy, cloud-like aura to the space. There is counter stocked with a local coffee and snacks nestled into a corner of the house and overlooked by the handcrafted porthole windows. Bamboo backed cubby holes and hangers furnish the wall behind you and create an elegant, minimalist closet space for you to store your personal items for the duration of your stay. Just past the closet is a sliding door that accesses one of the most fun areas of the house: the bathroom. The bathroom jalousie windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling and the horizontal glass plates open up, creating an indoor-outdoor effect. Naturally caught rainwater cascades from the large shower head above before disappearing into the floor boards below. You'll notice that the natural theme spills over into the bathroom with sustainable cork board backing the shower and air plants intermittently growing throughout. The toilet and hand-made rock sink in the corner make use of grey water eco-principles by allowing you to wash your hands with fresh water before it goes on to fill the bowl. One of the most fun aspects of this property is that it allows you the opportunity to experience true off-grid living without sacrificing any of the comforts of normal life. Natural lighting, solar power and rain water catchment are the three principles that have been integrated into this tree top design, making it almost like a living organism itself. The beauty of this high flying haven is in the details. I spent the better part of three months personally constructing the building as well as the accessories inside. My goal was to create a customized and secluded space for your occasion. The chandelier, hanging lights, port-hole windows, rock sink and platform bed were all DIY projects that I specifically created to enhance your experience. The bamboo pillars that 'support' the lanai and the moss carpet under the hanging bed were harvested from local areas on the Big Island. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION Don't worry, the capital letters are just to emphasize importance. I'm not mad at you. But please read this entire section before making a reservation. As lush and inviting as the Dreamy Tropical Treehouse is, there are inevitable 'challenges' that come with staying in an off-grid treehouse in the Hawaiian jungle. My goal is to give you an experience that combines adventure and luxury so I want to make sure that you are aware of the following things: 1. The treehouse is about 15-feet off the ground and is only accessible by the 'ladder-stairs'. 'Ladder-stairs' is just another way of saying 'very steep' stairs. There is a hand railing and none of my visitors have ever had a problem going up and down. There is a pulley system for hoisting up your bags. Only those who believe they are physically capable should book a stay. Just remember to go up and down the stairs facing them... like a ladder! 2. The running water comes from the rain falling on the roof and is not treated; therefore, the water is not potable. I will provide several bottles of drinking water. 3. The electricity you use is generated by sunlight and is stored in a battery. Once the battery runs out of power it has to recharge. This shouldn’t happen but just be mindful not to leave lights or power hungry items running for extended periods of time (No hairdryers). The windows allow for plenty of light during the day. 4. This is the rainy side of the Big Island so expect some showers! Realize that the pitter-patter on the roof is the rain's first stop on its journey to the water tanks and then to your shower. Also notice how warm it is. Don't think of rain as a trip ruiner but instead an asset to be enjoyed! 5. There are bugs but this isn't the Amazon. For such a tropical climate you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. The main things you will see are moths, fruit flies (due to fruit falling off of the trees) and mosquitoes. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. They really don't get that bad but their presence increases after a hard rain and during the twilight hours. Luckily, the hanging bed has mosquito netting that drapes down to encompass it. 6. Noises. Living off-grid in the jungle also brings about its own set of noises. The water pump and solar inverter will make soft noises throughout the day as they are used. The falling fruit from the vivie trees can also be alarming if you don't know what it is, and at night you are going to be serenaded by the sweet chirping of coqui frogs. Rustling branches, grunts and squeals typically means that the cute family of wild pigs is nearby. They are harmless and will runoff as soon as they sense your presence. Quietly grab the binoculars and, if you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of them! All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, they’ll only enhance your overall experience. Guests have free range to fully utilize every aspect of the house. The hanging bed, wrap-around porch, indoor-outdoor shower and closet are at your full disposal. I have recently installed a kitchenette that has a sink, cooler for storing food/drinks, and a coffee maker (also capable of heating up water). Any and all goodies stocked in the house are there for your enjoyment. Here is a more comprehensive list of amenities and features that will be available to you: •Indoor/Outdoor Shower •Toilet with Overlaid Sink •Organic Shampoo/Conditioner •Towels •Ample Parking •Tiki Torch ‘Flashlights’ •Hanging Bed •Table and Chairs for Lanai •Binoculars •Several Books •Outlets (3-prong and USB) •Kitchen Sink •Coffee Maker •Clean Linens •Gramophone Music Player for iPhones •Cooler for Food/Drink •Card Game Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. My goal is to make sure your stay is unforgettable so you can always contact me via phone or email. Because I do not live on the island year round, a local neighbor can assist you if you have any problems that need tending to. Upon your arrival I can arrange to have someone greet you and show you the property or simply stow away the key for your convenience. The choice, of course, is yours. Even though I am not on site, I can always be reached. Feel free to call/text/email me at any time during your stay should the unlikely event that a problem arises. I will immediately contact the proper authority to have the problem remedied. The treehouse is located at the end of a neighborhood street making it very private. It is set about 50 yards off the street behind a windy, jungle path further adding to your privacy. There are only about five full time neighbors scattered throughout the neighborhood so don't expect to see a lot of people. The treehouse is about 20 miles from Hilo, 23 miles from Pahoa, 12 miles from Keaau and 8 miles from Volcano. Volcano is the closest place for laundry, good restaurants and groceries, though you will pay a little more for the groceries than in Hilo or Keaau. I recommend you stop on your way in from Hilo. When you book I will include a guidebook that has the locations, hours and prices of local restaurants and grocery stores. There is quick access to highway 11 and it is 10 miles from Volcanoes National Park. Numerous opportunities for sightseeing and adventures are within a 40 minute drive of this treehouse paradise and they will be included in my guest guidebook as well. This is the ultimate spot for couples seeking romantic seclusion in the middle of a tropical jungle or individuals who want to escape the world. Unless you feel like hitchhiking, you will definitely need a rental car with high ground clearance to comfortably explore the surrounding areas and access the treehouse. While nothing is 'far' on the big island, everything is just a bit out of reach by foot... except of course for those lovely, yet dense, jungle strolls.

  • Really incredible place to stay. Make sure to try at least one night.

  • The tree house was awesome! What a magical experience in nature in Hawaii! The tree house was just like the pictures, and the frogs outside were great to fall asleep to. I was a bit apprehensive of bugs, but the screens kept the bugs out just fine. The only reason I took a star off of this review was because the bed sheets and pillows smelled strongly of mildew. I understand that Hawaii is a moist climate so this may be unavoidable. If you are someone who has mold or mildew allergies, consider that before booking. Otherwise we had a great stay!

  • This is a magical place, you can't ignore your inner child when you're at the tree house. You have all the privacy in the world and it's a place where you truly connect with nature. Loved it!

  • We had a wonderful time at Kristie's beautiful tree house. The house and the location are quite spectacular! Not only did we enjoy the beautiful house in the wilderness but we also truly enjoyed the little things like the apt books and games she had left for us. My wife really enjoyed showering with the view of the wilderness 🤭. Also, special mention for her hospitality and ease of check-in and out, everything was very smooth. Would definitely recommend this experience! Thanks Kriste! 😃

  • Stay here. Just do it. If you love the outdoors and just getting way, this is the spot for you. Communication was a breeze and finding it was easy because she literally covered any questions/needs that could have come up. Beautiful spot.

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement. Important to note before you book: NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN 2-12 NO EXTRA GUESTS NO PARTIES (including dinner parties) NO DRONES NO COMMERCIAL/PROFESSIONAL SHOOTING (photo, video, film) NO GRILLING NO PETS Thank you!
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our nearby "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin." *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, a Vipassana Buddhist retreat center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special.
This is rural desert wilderness. On the grid, but off the pavement.
  • Beautiful cabin. Cozy interior with everything you need. Copious windows that showcase the magnificent landscape. Rabbits, diverse desert fauna, and doves nesting in the rafters. This was a magical place to unwind and unplug, and Jay and Stephanie are great hosts.

    Sophia2020-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie and Jay’s place was everything we dreamed it would be! Rustic-chic, minimalist, clean, comfortable, remote but not too isolated... we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. It’s also highly Instagrammable and a very peaceful respite from everyday life. A rare combo! The shops and restaurants of Joshua Tree (and the park itself) are just a short drive away. We loved it here and didn’t want to leave.

    Sarah2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay at the homestead. My husband and I have been road tripping around the southwest and we stayed one night at Stephanie & Jay’s place in between and it was peaceful and relaxing. Just what we needed. Lovely space. Very friendly & communicative hosts. Would recommend. A+

    Samantha2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Stephanie and Jay’s homesteader cabin was definitely the most unique and enjoyable Airbnb experience we have had. We paired our stay with a day of hiking at Joshua Tree National Park, but the surrounding landscape makes the cabin a perfect retreat in and of itself. It’s clear that the hosts care a great deal about the area and local flora and fauna, too. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

    Leopoldo2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very close to Joshua Tree National Park, this cabin provided the perfect "end of trip" celebration for us. The outdoor shower is an amazing place to watch the sunset and the cabin itself is adorable. We enjoyed watching the wildlife during our stay! Pro Trip: we found the cheapest firewood at Stater Bros Grocery Store! We would definitely love to stay again!

    Taylor2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, clean & welcoming space and stunning views! What more could you ask for? We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back soon!

    Lauren2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Just like the pictures, beautiful!

    Patrick2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful solo retreat at Stephanie and Jay's place. The cabin is secluded in a quiet area, but still with easy access to town. Super clean, minimal, basic – exactly what I was looking for. Jay was super helpful during check in and very communicative throughout the entire process. Would stay again, 10/10!

    Yao2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + It’s almost as if DnA invented Airbnb! They were ideal hosts! We had a private home with quiet nights in the hot tub overlooking the beautiful hills of LA and our own private, perfectly lite patio at night with early morning sun for coffee and sun bathing. One morning while having breakfast we watched as humming birds fluttered around the patio. They supplied above and beyond amenities and personal touches including snacks, beverages, movies, plush robes and so much more. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make our stir fry dinners and rice. We loved walking to York street for vintage shopping and healthy eating/drinking. I can’t wait to book another stay with them. Much love from Detroit to you! Thank you DnA & Apollo🌈

  • A truly great place and experience. We're stayed in some good Airbnb 's but this is up there with the best of them.

    Ray2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible. If you're lucky enough to be able to have the chance to stay here, take it. It will exceed all of your expectations even though they're already set pretty high.

    Gavin2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This pool house was wonderful to stay at. It was very clean on the inside, and it had all the standard amenities one would expect. The pool was gorgeous and the hot tub was fun; we took a dip one night and really enjoyed it. Instructions were clear for self check-in and check-out, and both went very smoothly. The fridge and cupboards came stocked with a few goodies as well. The only thing I would note about this place is that the driveway is rather long and steep. I wish I could bring my mother here, but she has arthritis and would not be able to survive the driveway. Overall, we were very happy. Thank you for being great hosts!

    Bhavya2020-01-25T00:00:00Z

Come enjoy seclusion and mountain views in this sweet little off grid cabin tucked back in the woods of our 125 acre private gated mountain top escape near Pisgah National Forest. Hike 150 yards down a flat gravel road to get to the cabin for a retreat from your normal day to day life. Disconnect and enjoy the mountain view, nature and solitude. Bring your dogs. Bring a book and lounge in the hammock. Enjoy the simpler things.
DUE TO THE NEW COVID 19 STAY HOME STAY SAFE COUNTY REGULATIONS: MAY IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL RESIDENT RENTALS, ESSENTIAL TRAVELERS (either you have an essential job or you are here looking for real estate/moving here) AND QUARANTINE. THE PRICE WILL BE ADJUSTED IF YOU SHOW THAT YOU QUALIFY. This off grid cabin is located on 125 acres of private land that is gated and backs up to Pisgah National Forest. It is 4 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway and to the top of Mount Pisgah. It is close to all of our favorite hiking spots and swimming holes on the Blue Ridge Parkway! An easy 25 minute drive to Asheville and all of it's amazing food and breweries. The cabin is 100% off the grid: that means solar panels for limited electricity needs, propane heaters help keep the cabin cozy during the winter, and an outdoor shower and outhouse. Enjoy our 3 burner propane cook top for cooking, granite countertops, a sink with a water dispenser for drinking water, board games and a very comfortable queen size bed. Lounge in the giant hammock under the trees. Due to Corona virus- We are requesting that guests bring their own Queen sized sheets, pillows, blankets and towels. We are spending extra time disinfecting the space with a bleach solution between guests. We provide a solar shower that can be used year around in the outdoor shower. During the summer we attempt to keep our rainwater shower running, but it's temperamental so consider it a bonus if it works during your stay! We also provide a list of other places to shower if you are staying for a longer period of time and crave a long shower or it is too cold to shower outdoors. The cabin has mountain views through the trees and is tucked back in the woods on a flat gravel road that you will have to walk on to get to the house. You will stop and park near the out house. We provide a wagon to help get your things to the cabin. The outhouse is about 150 yards from the cabin with floor to ceiling glass windows looking out through the tree tops...definitely the best view you have ever seen from an outhouse! The outhouse is cleaned out weekly on Mondays sometime between 8-11 am by a service truck. Our Goal Zero solar generator provides limited electricity to run the solar lights inside the cabin. If it has been cloudy, then the solar generator may not get charged enough to run the lights. We try to keep lanterns and flashlights around as back ups...but it's best if you bring along your own incase the solar generator runs out of power. We do have a back up solar generator that we keep charged in case it stays cloudy for days so please let us know if you need it. Bring some wood and make s'mores in our fire pit! Bring a cooler for your perishables since we do not have a fridge. We love all dogs of any size and welcome them to come on vacation with you! They will need to be left in crates if left indoors while you are out adventuring in town. Bring dog beds along for them. We are happy to be able to provide a dog friendly space since we too are dog owners and lovers....we just request you clean up after them, relocate their poops to the woods, and be sure to sweep up their extra dog hair before you leave.
Our mountain top escape is at the foot of Mount Pisgah and backs up to Pisgah National Forest. We have 3 airbnbs on our 125 acres of land. If you don't see the dates you wanted with this cabin, please check out our other properties.
  • The location was private and had wonderful views. We enjoyed relaxing on the hammock and the cabin was just as promised and had a rustic charm that we loved.

  • Haley’s cabin is the perfect place to escape the city and really enjoy the outdoors. The cabin is charming and rustic, the bed is very comfortable. The views of the mountains from the hammock are stunning. There is a hiking trail 5 minutes down the road with a stream and small waterfall- it was the perfect way to spend the mornings with my daughter and dog. We will definitely stay here again.

    Danielle2020-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at the Hammock House. This place will give you an incredibly unique experience. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the cozy space, beautiful view, hammock, and unique green-friendly amenities. It was everything we were looking for, and then some. I would recommend this place if you’re looking for a unique experience, enjoy camping or few modern-day amenities. If you don’t like to walk outside to go to the bathroom, this may not be the place for you, but Haley’s clear communication on ALL of the aspects of your stay make everything crystal clear. There are no surprises or unexpected hurdles.

    Laura2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED! The best place to get away without going far. We love Haley’s cabins and this one is top notch with the epic hammock! We loved hiking the MST and Pisgah trails, just 10 min away. We also loved Haley’s great recommendations and how perfectly clean the cabin was. We will definitely be back and have already recommended the space to several friends looking to get some fresh air during these crazy times.

    Katherine2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot recommend highly enough! A beautiful cabin in the perfect location - secluded while also close to Asheville and plenty of things to do. Laying in the hammock looking at the stars was our favorite part, although it was hard to choose!

    Devon2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I were blown away by this place! It was so cool and Haley clearly put a lot of thought into it. The directions to get there were very well explained and everything was so clean. We loved that we were able to bring our dog with us. She loved our relaxing weekend get away just as much as we did!

A rustic, cozy cottage nestled in the majestic redwoods of Sonoma county makes the perfect weekend getaway or month retreat. Relax in 2 acres of landscaped garden or drive to convenient restaurants, the ocean, or San Francisco.
This is perfect for the person/persons who love nature. It is a cozy converted chicken coop with an added deck and outdoor shower. The fridge, microwave and hot plate make it easy to stay in although the adorable town of Occidental with its delicious restaurants are fun.
This is a no through road so it is very quiet. And even though the houses are far apart, the neighbors are close and watch out for each other. There is a beautiful walking path available to the neighborhood.
  • Had a lovely time staying at Josephine’a cottage. The fresh air, hot tubbing under the stars, and laying in a hammock between the redwoods were all aspects that I especially enjoyed. Our hostess was lovely and very gracious! I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for some rest and relaxation.

  • Josephine's home was a beautiful and peaceful getaway! The photos really don't do it justice, and if you visit you won't be disappointed. Josephine was extremely welcoming, the space was private and clean, and the grounds were mind blowing. Overall an amazing and worthwhile experience!

  • This place was beautiful! Pictures do not capture how beautiful it really is. Josephine was very sweet and helpful throughout our stay. The garden is peaceful and relaxing. It really is a truly magical place. We would definitely stay again!

  • You will absolutely love this place! If you love nature, peace and quite, and just amazing views... this is the place for you. The two days we spent at her property we never left. Walking around her 2 acres of land, took a lot of pictures, and the hot tub. It was like we were at a private retreat. We will definitely be back.

A magical Redwood Treehouse located it the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. There is a live tree growing right through the main living area and another in the bathroom! It is simply incredible. It was built by my friend, Randy, a stained glass artist. Everyone who sees it are delighted by it. Please read entire description before making a reservation request. It has a delicious high-bed, a kitchen with a small stove and refrigerator, and typical cooking tools. There is a full bathroom with shower and toilet of course. There is now a hot-tub at about 103 degrees ready for your soak before bed or a morning treat. The Treehouse is a short walk of a few hundred yards (about four minutes) through the beautiful woods from the parking area. There is a gas stove for heating. There is a TV and DVD player with many movies to choose from. For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A wonderful treehouse nestled in the redwood forest, a short distance to HWY 1(Pacific Coast HWY) the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz and the HWY 101 Corridor. People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day you can return home to a mountain treehouse and quiet. The weather here is excellent. It is located in a micro climate called a ‘banana belt’. Though the beach is only 25 minutes away we are often in the sun when our neighbors in the valley and on the coast are in the fog. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The fog rolling in at night is nature’s air conditioner and everything cools down. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day. The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region. Come and visit our amazing part of the world and experience something special about the California Coast. All linens are provided. The kitchen has the basic items for cooking, i.e., spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, and tea. Two-night minimum on weekends. THREE-DAY MINIMUM on HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. A 60.00 cleaning fee will be charged per each stay. We are a green establishment. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. We ask our guests to consider using fewer towels during their stay and not requesting a sheet change unless your stay is longer than a week. I have a moderate cancellation policy. You must cancel a full seven days before your reservation. Please make sure that you read it thoroughly. You will be charged 50% of your stay if you cancel after the grace period.
  • My boyfriend and I feel this tree house is a hidden treasure. We were blown away at the level of craftsmanship of the house, as there are two great redwoods growing straight through it. One in the living space and another in the bathroom. We loved the rustic and homey feel of this woodsy den. The elevated bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed watching legends of the fall by candlelight after a home cooked dinner. The jacuzzi was an added gift to our beautiful night. An amazing setting with a backwoods feel. Our hosts were especially friendly and also accommodating. Expect a short trek through the redwoods to reach this gem. We suggest packing light and bringing a flashlight. A unique and soulful place with a story. The perfect place for a romantic stay.

    Genoa2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a lovely stay! Very quiet and cozy. We went in the jacuzzi, made dinner with a kitchen that had everything we needed, took a warm shower and watched old black & white movies while putting together a puzzle! The best part was our doggies were able to join us! Thank you MJ for making our tree house dreams come true :)

    Caitlin2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a unique and special experience :) a short walk to the tree house very private. There are other dogs in the area so be weary if you also have a pup I had no issues !! Very friendly pit across the way that played with my pup around the woods ! There was a friendly face once we arrived to make sure we knew were to go to the home! The best part (other than the fact that we were in a literal treehouse) was the lights all around the house! I was able to get some amazing photos. Thank you for being an amazing host ! Some tips! Don’t pack too much since there is a walk to the home Don’t pack too many cold food items or larger items as she notes in the photo it is a mini fridge! Bring coal if you wanted to use the little grill. Bring coffee grounds (if you need it) AND ENJOY. YOURE IN A TREE HOUSE!!

  • Our April visit to the Redwood Treehouse was a birthday treat for my husband, planned months ago before the uncertainty in the world today with the pandemic around us all. Our host, Mary Jane, welcomed us to her place & we felt very much like kids, as we made our way to our 3-night adventure. The small trek into the redwoods offered an immediate tranquility...it led us out of the hectic world & into a more serene one. Seeing the treehouse all nestled in the beauty, we were anxious to see inside! The warm feeling when we first opened the door was incredible to say the least & something I don't remember ever having in a traditional stay. Everything has been thoughtfully arranged & there wasn't anything we needed outside of the food & drink we took along. We enjoyed the views while we sat outside with our morning tea, & again in the late afternoons with a bottle of wine & some cheese after a nap. The hot tub was the perfect temperature & relaxed us before bed, as we would then enjoy a movie together in the quiet around us. Sleep was most soothing & so needed from our everyday city pace - the bed was comfy & warm, with a nice gas stove for a special ambiance that I don't remember having in my childhood treehouse :) My husband cooked up the meals on the grill, as I finished up in the kitchen - sitting down to a dinner table had become foreign to us with our schedules & we loved connecting with each other again. Mary Jane, we will be back...hopefully, we'll be able to nuzzle our way back on the calendar soon since many of our friends are looking to schedule their much needed retreats too...they're looking forward to the serenity we've TRIED to describe! Thank you for sharing the treehouse adventure with us - we're still enjoying the memories!!

    Kelly2020-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane's place was amazing!!! Can't say enough how beautiful the treehouse is, especially with all the twinkle lights on at night. The cabin is very rustic and charming, and has everything one needs for an amazing stay. We loved that we had to hike down a trail for ~5 minutes to get there - it just added to the special experience. The hot tub was the cherry on top! We used it every night.

    Alex2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to the treehouse and it was just as great as the first visit. We love the secluded location amongst the redwoods. A wonderful destination to get away from it all. Definitely a unique and special experience staying here. Mary Jane is the ideal Airbnb host. She provided us with all the information needed and was quick to respond with any questions.

    Kayla2020-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing treehouse stay. Legit treehouse with trees growing right through the space while still feeling cozy and homey as a old timey cabin. Clean and well organized. No bugs. Heaters worked well. SO amazingly quiet. Walking through the forest to get to the spot was super fun.

The cabin is a great place to escape from it all! The custom made cedar hot tub is hot and ready all winter. Cold, snowy nights make for excellent tub time!! Inside the cabin is warm and has the comfort of home. Want to ski? Two ski resorts are 30 minutes from us.
Nestled in the hilled forest behind our home, the Vermont Tree Cabin (16' by 12', 190 sq ft) is a great, quiet place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. While lounging on the deck or hot tub, you will be able to enjoy the calm and serenity of the outdoors, but still have the comfort of home in our authentic cabin lodging. Built in 2004, the cabin was temporally used as a home for our family while we built our house. The cabin has been completely renovated with custom tile shower, rustic hickory floors, knotty pine walls/ceiling, a kitchen area including a sink, Induction Hot Plate, small refrigerator, microwave, waffle maker, coffee maker, HD TV, DVD player with small selection of movies, good cell service (ATT & Verizon), 500 gallon custom cedar hot tub, Wireless internet, gas grill, rock fire-pit, picnic table and a 250 sq. ft. deck that is built into and around oak trees. One of our greatest amenities of the cabin is the custom built, white cedar hot tub. Maintained at 100- 104F degrees, the hot tub is ready for your use all year round, 24 hours a day; all you need to do is slide the cover off, relax and enjoy. While relaxing in the tub, be sure to enjoy watching the flames of a fire from the fire pit right off the deck. Our other amenities and services are as follows: Bedding – One full size memory foam bed and one single cot that can be included upon request. Food – Coffee, tea, waffle mix (make your own), Vermont maple syrup. Parking – private driveway and parking area for cabin guests. The cabin is completely insulated and heated, so we invite you to enjoy it any time of the year. Maid service - We do not provide turn down service or housekeeping in the cabin during your visit, but will make adjustments upon request. As we are located in the North East Kingdom of Vermont, the area offers many activities and events for your enjoyment. Our area is well known for some of our Ski Mountains and Resorts including Burke Mountain and Jay Peak. There are many other outdoor activities including boating and paddling, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, etc. But don’t forget to check out some of Vermont’s well-known covered bridges, sugar houses, breweries, and farms as well. P.S. It’s great exercise walking from the parking area to the cabin. It’s only 150 feet away but a beautiful uphill stroll on a mix of well-lit paths and stairs.
Our property is private yet only minutes away from downtown. Saint Johnsbury is a typical small town that has a few shops, restaurants and stores. Most of our guests enjoy outdoor activities when they visit. Hiking and biking trails, ski mountains and lakes are all within 30 minutes of us.
  • We loved our peaceful getaway! The waffles, grill, patio, patio lights, and views into the woods were all highlights for us. It was the perfect few days away from it all. Very clean, and cute space. Our first night it snowed while we relaxed in the cedar jacuzzi - what luck! Thank you!

  • Andrew & Marilou's place was exactly as we expected. It was clean & cozy! The fire place & hot tub were perfect as they allowed us to be outside on a cold winter night. Please note, they do not provide firewood, so make sure to bring some (they did sell some at the hardware store). They did provide boozy waffles which were delicious & fun to make on a slow morning! We would definitely come back & we are hoping to check out their other tree house!

    Brittany2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Such a peaceful retreat in Andrew & Marilou's treecabin - clean, quiet, comfortable, and secluded - with the hot tub and the waffles, it was exactly what we needed :) Definitely recommend

  • Andrew and Marilou’s Tree Cabin was a great getaway where we were able to relax and unwind for a few days! Great touches like the hot tub and the delicious waffles made our stay exceptional. We really appreciated the care put into the cabin itself and the hospitality. It was great to see some snow this winter, we’d love to come back to experience Vermont in another season!

Hello! Welcome! Please read my entire listing before messaging, as I have comprehensive coverage for most all questions! Additionally, I do adhere to all of my rules & guidelines! No exceptions! Rules are: 2 guest maximum, no pets, no children of any age, no self check in, no visitors during your stay, etc.. The AirBnB app does not show what I do not allow, only what I do! Please check this listing on a desktop computer, so you understand what I do allow/do not allow before messaging. No parties/events/weddings on my property. HOME DETAILS: Come relax up in Topanga & get away! 1 Bedroom Guest House located in the Heart of the canyon for nightly & weekly rentals! The entire property has waterfalls, ponds & a tropical themed environment. The guest house has 1 queen sized bed & can accommodate a maximum of two guests comfortably. There is also a kitchenette with mini fridge, stovetop, complete with coffee maker & filters, dishes/pots/pans & washer/dryer on site (the washer/dryer is for stays of 5+ days). Unit does not have A/C, but has ceiling fans in the bedroom, along with sliding glass & screen doors in each room allowing for ventilation. PARKING: 1 carport parking spot is available, along with extra parking along the road. The road is paved, but has no sidewalks alongside. CELL PHONE & INTERNET: Wireless internet is available, along with a cell signal booster. Reception can be spotty up in the mountains, and is not guaranteed; although most all guests have not had issues. NEIGHBORHOOD: Topanga is a charming, countryside neighborhood adjacent to Los Angeles & very safe. I've lived here for over 30 years, and never had any issues. COMMUTE: My house is about 15 minutes drive from Santa Monica, 20 minutes from Malibu & 15 minutes to Woodland Hills, 30 minutes to LAX. Without traffic, I'm about 35 minutes from Hollywood, 40 minutes from downtown, 25 minutes to West Los Angeles/Culver City. To get a better idea of commute, I'm central in Topanga, so if you check a map for Topanga, CA & get directions from there, you'll be able to estimate distances. ARE THERE ANIMALS ON THE PROPERTY? No. I do not allow any animals in the guest house, nor are there any on the property (for allergy & personal health needs, I cannot allow animals on the property). For those who need petsitting: LADogma is a great local option where dogs stay comfortably in a home in Topanga. Just look up "LADogma" for more info. IS THIS A FAMILY RENTAL? My rental is Adults Only - No children of any age allowed (including infants)! Due to a unique property structure, with many stone stairways, ponds, firepit, size of guest house, etc., I remain firm on my policy of (2) adult guests maximum per stay. Many families try to message me asking for an exception; but I do remain firm on this rule, due to liability & safety concerns. I'm happy to host just parents for a romantic getaway, though! ACCESSIBILITY: There are several long flights of stone steps leading up to the guesthouse. This shouldn't be a problem for most people (and i'm happy to help with luggage), but if you have trouble with stairs, this may not be the place for you. I've had multiple pregnant women manage the stairs late in their term, but these stairs may also be a concern for pregnant women on bed rest. SENSITIVE? Sheets are 100% cotton, 600 thread count - I use all natural laundry detergents, for those of you with allergy concerns! I also provide organic soaps, all cotton towels & robes. Please do let me know if you have allergies though, so I can be extra scent-sitive! SURFING? If you'd like this to be a surf getaway, I'm happy to loan you one of my boards with your security deposit acting as collateral! I have kayaks & stand-up paddle boards available for use - but note that you'll need a truck or SUV to get them down to the beach (I don't allow guests to tie the boards to a standard car, even with a roof rack - I don't want my boards to be damaged). I've been surfing & diving for many years locally, and would be happy to give you some pointers on location, etc.. PHOTOGRAPHER? If you are a photographer looking to use my property as a location for a shoot, please note that I don't include shoots as part of a "package" deal when staying at the guest house. If you try to sneak a shoot on my property, this will result in a negative rating, possible immediate ejection from my property and/or loss of security deposit! Please mention any relevant photography in your message, as I would require that we arrange a shoot outside of AirBnB. I use my properties as locations, so a location fee would be required, along with standard insurance, etc.. If you'd like to take a few casual snapshots on my property for strictly personal use, that's fine.
FUN FACT: As featured in Cody Simpson's music video, "Love." (URL HIDDEN) LOCAL POINTS OF INTEREST: AirBnB does a great job of covering Topanga! Check out their location guide here: https://www.airbnb.com/locations/los-angeles/topanga Topanga State Beach is an 8 minute drive & Topanga State Park is about a 5 minute drive. In Topanga, there are many hiking trails, some with eight thousand year-old Indian caves & waterfalls. Mimosa Cafe is the village coffee shop, which is a 10 minute hike down the hill. Just across the way from Mimosa, there is a natural foods store & a little mini market. Santa Monica & Malibu are a beautiful 15 minute drive along Pacific Coast Highway. Suggested local restaurants would be Inn of the Seventh Ray, Froggy's & Cholada Thai food. Great restaurants in Malibu are Geoffrey's, Nobu Sushi & Cafe Habana. The closest large grocery store is a Von's Market, located on Sunset Blvd. There's also a natural foods market & deli in Malibu, named PC Greens. Additionally, a local raw smoothie & juice bar has opened recently, about a 5 minute drive from my place called Topanga Living Cafe in Topanga!

BEST deal on Airbnb, see my reviews! Private garage/studio apt close to downtown, freeway, walk to MANY key businesses, bus, cool host provides many conveniences, safe neighborhood, parking, kitchen. No sec dpst, Plz read all pic captions. Please note that there is one queen-size bed and a twin air mattress that can be added.
The space is a full studio detached from the main house, it is very private and quiet, 400 square feet, bathroom has a shower. Kitchen has everything you need, no oven but has an inoperable range (cooking is not allowed, no saute, no frying per inadequate ventilation) and microwave oven and refrigerator. There is ONE queen bed, bedding is comfy and new, also several airbed options if additional beds are needed. Bathroom is small and has an accordion door, cozy, warm and cool, clean, there is a fenced-in yard complete with disc golf basket and discs to throw, ideal for pets. I am located 38 blocks from the center of St. Petersburg. Great restaurants, baseball, shopping-whatever you're looking for in St. Pete. The freeway is only 2 minutes away, Tampa is 19 minutes, beaches to the west. This part of town is both serene AND quite busy with neighborhood shopping centers, etc. You can walk to anything you need. This unit features a private, shaded driveway big enough for 2 vehicles. If rain is heavy there is water to step through, it's not a big deal, I have "planks" for such rare occassions.

Do you enjoy camping, but secretly wish you had a real bed, wifi and a bathroom? If so, the Dixie Daisy is for you! This cute Airstream trailer has been completely renovated with a retro twist. It’s the perfect place to escape for a relaxing weekend surrounded by nature, yet equipped with the conveniences of home. Grill up a yummy dinner with your honey and dine al fresco on the large deck, take a morning stroll along the creek, turn on the string lights for some mood lighting, take a dip in the hot tub, enjoy your morning shower under the trees in the private, spacious outdoor shower (room for two!), and end your day relaxing by the fire with an ice cold beer. This is the life! The Dixie Daisy provides all the comforts of home in one cute, cozy package. The antique iron bedframe holds a queen mattress, the bathroom has a small interior shower and a real toilet, the kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and utensils, and alongside the deck is a charcoal grill and fire bowl for your night-time fire. The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as leaving fresh eggs in the fridge (as long as the chickens keep up) and local organic coffee. They also strive to make this property as green as possible by using environmentally friendly dish soap and laundry detergent, providing recycled paper products and full recycling, using low-wattage light bulbs, and more. This cozy retreat is nestled in an elm grove along the banks of Smith Creek on 10 beautiful acres shared with the owners. You’ll really feel like you’ve escaped to nature, yet the fabulous shopping and dining of downtown Wimberley are only 3 miles down the road. It’s the best of both worlds! So, what are you waiting for? The Dixie Daisy is the unique getaway you’ve been dreaming of. We are confident that it will exceed your expectations! Pet policy: Pets are allowed for a fee of $50 per pet, and we ask that you leave cash or check for the pet fee with the keys upon checkout. Pets must be declared to the owners in advance, preferably at the time of booking. We ask that if dogs are left unattended that they be crated and that they remain on leash when wandering the property if they might be inclined to chase a child, cat, or chicken or wander off. Thanks for understanding! Single night bookings: We have a two night minimum, but when there is a single night gap in the schedule we are happy to accept a single night booking for an additional $25. Just shoot us a message with your date and we'll go from there.
Wimberley is a lovely little town full of unique shops, swimming holes, and friendly folks. We think you'll love your visit here!

  • I love this little spot! Dont hesitate to book. Hot tub and outdoor shower are amazing. The hosts respond very quickly and even put up the hammock for us that was missing since their last one broke. Cant wait to visit again when everything opens back up. Suggestions from me is bring bug repellent for the mosquitos. Thanks again! ❤

  • This place is so awesome! It's everything you could expect from the pictures and MORE! The airstream is adorable and while small as you'd imagine, the space around it makes up for that. The deck, the hot tub, the grill, the outdoor shower, the hammock, the creek... it's just incredible! We visited during quarantine and so we weren't sure what to expect of our trip. Even with stores closed and only being able to do take out, we had an incredible time! Everyone in town was so friendly and the environment is just beautiful. If you love the outdoors, this place is perfect no matter what! Thank you for a perfect weekend!

  • Perfectly cozy and just as described. Located in a quiet neighborhood, but still a short drive to the main city and lake.

  • Awesome cabin! If you’re looking for a cozy little place to stay the weekend in, then this is it. They have everything you need to be off to a good start. I usually come up to ride but this trip was just for relaxing, and that’s exactly what we did! The jacuzzi is definitely nice during those colder nights. The furnace is a warming touch that can get the cabin cookin if you maintain the fire! Recommend!

    Jerritt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this little cabin! It’s so cute and cozy! It’s close to the village and restaurants. The Uber’s were only about $10 bucks each way which was very nice and convenient. The hot tub is the best part ! We enjoyed a glass of wine out in the hott tub. There’s beautiful lights above as well that set a great ambiance. The hosts were very accommodating and had good communication. Super easy to find, loved our stay thank you !

    Kourtney2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the cabin! It's super cozy and had everything we needed. It's in a woodsy neighborhood which we loved, but it's also super close to the town center - best of both worlds! Marc and Esther were very responsive hosts and we'd stay at their place again in a second!

    Carly2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay at Marc an Esther's place. We spent most of our days enjoying the fresh air, making fires, enjoying the hot tub, and feeling cozy in the loft. Fast internet speeds along with Netflix made our stay even more enjoyable.

The Pleasant Bay Lookout is a small private room with a spectacular view. Guests access our family's home for bathroom and hot tub. We love welcoming guests to this tucked-away oasis of peace and beauty. Meeting accurate expectations is very important to us - we only accept requests from those who let us know they've read our entire listing description. Thank you!
The Pleasant Bay Lookout is nestled in a forest overlooking the Salish Sea. Its stunning beauty and simplicity have been showcased widely, including on Airbnb's Instagram, in local magazines and on many websites. The Lookout is simple: one room (121 square feet) with a comfortable recliner, a modern sofa that converts to a bed, a glass wall with a breathtaking view, and a deck to experience the sound of the sea, songbirds and sun, rain and shifting clouds firsthand. Given the small square footage, there is no sink or bathroom in the Lookout and the sofa bed takes up much of the space in the room when its open. As one guest said: "The space is small in footage but huge on character and coolness. The back wall is all glass. It leads out to a deck and offers a beautiful view of the woods and the bay. The view makes the whole room feel as big as the whole out of doors." We care about beauty, connection, real things, and the Lookout reflects that; much of its features were made by us or locally sourced. There is a branched tree from our property to hang your coat, a live edge coffee table made by Peter, and thoughtfully chosen art on the walls. The common trend for visitors to the Lookout is to arrive and cast off any plans they have: most seem to fall into the state described in Italian as "La Dolce Far Niente - The Sweetness of Doing Nothing." The sensory delight increases when you go outside the Lookout – the forest is alive with songbirds, shorebirds, raptors and peekaboo views. Raccoon and deer wander through, and Chuckanut Mountain trails and beaches are a short walk, bike ride, paddle or drive away. There are many options for nature excursions and adventures right outside our door. The Pleasant Bay Lookout is ideal for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, and those who want simple accommodations in a beautiful natural setting. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, Lookout guests will have limited access to our family's home, to manage guests' and our safety. Access includes the downstairs bathroom in our house, exclusively for guest use, with separate entrance (a 35-45 second walk from Lookout, open 24/7 for your use) and outdoor hot tub (see photos - also used, at different times, by others). We look forward to resuming sharing all the common areas - including kitchen and living rooms - of our home after pandemic risks have passed. • Though we're unable to share our home kitchen during the Covid-19 pandemic, we've added a small refrigerator, microwave and dishware under cover outside our home. We recommend accessing takeout in Bellingham or keeping food prep simple while you're here. • Note that the Lookout is nestled in the trees, but not built IN a tree like a typical treehouse. • Meeting accurate expectations is very important to us, so please let us know you've read our entire listing description and understand the arrangement between the Lookout and main house when you send a booking request. Thank you!
With Chuckanut Mountain behind us and the Salish Sea in front, hikers, bikers, and kayakers will find easy access to all three activities from the Lookout. The Interurban Trail is just up the road. Heading south on the Interurban you'll reach the trails, lakes and seashore of 2683-acre Larrabee State Park in five minutes; walking north, you can stroll or bike five miles to town if you'd like, all on a forested trail overlooking the sea. Launching a boat from a nearby area will bring you to a beautiful coastline, with Chuckanut Island as the gem of Chuckanut Bay. The world renowned beauty of Chuckanut Drive is moments away – enjoy it by bicycle or car. The quaint village-within-the-city of Fairhaven is 10 minutes, and downtown Bellingham is 20 minutes by car. The Skagit Valley is just 20 minutes south along Chuckanut Drive. Venturing east, you can reach the glorious mountains, rivers, and waterfalls of the North Cascades in just over an hour. Driving west, you can be on a ferry to the pristine San Juan islands in under an hour. If you'd like, you can touch a glacier and enjoy a picnic on a beach in the same day! The Chuckanut area and Bellingham region are an outdoor recreation and nature lovers' paradise. We're the Northwest epicenter for sea, mountain, lake, and river activities, as well as island hopping and visiting local farms of every variety (vineyards, vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy). If you'd prefer a more urban vacation, Bellingham has farmers markets, diverse shopping opportunities, varied restaurants and nightlife, great local breweries, and one of the most beautiful university campuses in Washington state. We're situated equidistant to Vancouver BC and Seattle, so big city attractions are just a 90 minute drive away.
  • Aimee and Peter have created a beautiful and unforgettable place that I cannot wait to visit again. The lookout is magical and very centrally located to other amazing parts of Washington. I felt very safe in the private and shared spaces as they are taking extra steps to ensure physical distancing and cleanliness during these times. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an escape from the business of life!

    Pj2020-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay with beautiful views all around! The lookout can't be beat and the location is great!

    Pranav2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed in many Airbnb’s there is no place that has exceeded our expectations more than Peter and Aimee’s accommodations. Excellent communicators, beautiful home with an unparalleled view, and the most warm welcoming family who have an obvious passion for hosting. Stay more than one night if you can and extend your stay in Bellingham, you won’t regret it!

    Rebecca2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible location

    Michael2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The location is stunning, it’s truly the perfect escape, felt very comfortable and happy staying here. Would come again!

    Anthony2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Lookout is exactly as described: stylish, snug, and nestled amongst the trees. Aimee and Peter manage two accommodations, and while the other is much bigger, this one has the killer view. Both properties, as well as their own home, look like they were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. We stayed just one night (a little getaway from our kids). While retreating, we enjoyed lounging in the Lookout, eating dinner and playing card games in Aimee and Peter's dining room, and taking a dip in the hot tub under a canopy of trees after dark. We were totally relaxed and at home here. A few tips: - The hosts suggested bringing slip-on shoes for going between the Lookout and the main house. Do it. Since we arrived on foot for just the one night, we didn't bring any, and we regretted it. - We hiked to the Lookout from downtown Bellingham along the waterfront trail from Bellingham to Fairhaven (~60 minutes) and then via the Interurban trail through the Chuckanuts (~90 minutes). I'd highly recommend doing to walk at least once while you are staying at the Lookout. G0ogle Maps is pretty good for navigating the few unmarked forks in the Interurban trail.

  • Cute spot nestled in nature. It was beautiful to be immersed in nature sounds, sit by a fire, and soak in the bathtub. The outdoor bathtub, although a bit old was amazing. The hammock under the redwoods is so relaxing. The bed was comfortable and room was cute and clean. It is more on the simple side which is what I love, but if that’s not your thing it’s good to know about. Stephanie was quick to respond to messages and very helpful!

    Kristy2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Went Beyond all of my expectations. Very special place. Stephanie is very responsive and professional as a host & extremely helpful. This is a gorgeous quiet retreat away from the world. The outdoor bathroom is extremely sophisticated and it’s rustic boho chic qualities went way beyond what I was expecting. The bed is the most comfortable bed that for the first time in years I felt like I got a real deep sleep. Such a magical place.

My spacious two-bedroom home has everything you need for your NYC trip. On the first floor, but set above street level, I am offering two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen with a dining/living area, plus ROKU tv, WIFI, and washer/dryer. While Brooklyn is very large, I am walking distance to several major train/bus routes that run into Manhattan for all the popular sites: Freedom Tower, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Times Square. There is so much culture and excitement to be experienced!
Both bedrooms are very quiet, as they are located in the rear of the house. The first bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the second bedroom has a twin size bed. The new bathroom has a large shower, but no tub, with strong water pressure. The kitchen/living/dining area are set in an open plan setup. French doors that open to a sunroom separate open plan kitchen/dining/living area. The sunroom is shared with me who has my own entrance. It is stocked with many types of plants to create a truly alive and lush area. Cats and one dog have and continue to live on this site. They live with the host an do sit in the shared sunrooms. No matter how much preparation, if you are sensitive to pets this place is probably isn't the best choice.
The Highland Park section of East New York has a very suburban feel. I am very close to Upper Highland Park which sits on the highest elevation of Brooklyn. It has a more 'open' feel. But, like the suburbs the evenings are very quiet.
  • The house is amazing u will feel at home

Craftsman style, 2 bedroom cabin with large windows overlooking the designated "National Wild and Scenic" Pere Marquette River. Peaceful and cozy craftsman style cabin in the woods overlooking the Pere Marquette river. Large windows on the riverside allow for a spectacular view of the river and lovely sunrises. The cabin has central AC and central heat, but there is NO TV or Internet/WiFi. The kitchen is well stocked with most cooking essentials. There is a tea kettle, various coffee pots, coffee bean grinder, dishes, pans, small refrigerator, and small functioning vintage stove. Freshly laundered bed linens, blankets and towels are provided. The town grocery store is conviently located less than a mile from the cabin. Both bedrooms have a full size mattresses. There is also a futon in the living room that could be used for additional guests. There is a 2 person tandem kayak, canoe and fishing poles are available at the cabin and are free for guest use. The burn ring by the river and a fire pit on the property that can be used for bonfires or roasting marshmallows. A door code enables guests to check themselves in after 3pm. We are available by text/email or phone during their stay if there any problems or questions. The cabin is located in Baldwin which is a small rural town that has very limited attractions or resturants, but makes for quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Cabin is located on Pere Marquette river which is a designated "National Wild and Scenic" river and is world renowned for excellent fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout and Steelhead. The river section directly in front of the cabin is open for fishing only during the last weekend in April to end of September (trout season). It is also a very popular river for canoes and kayakers since it is steady and considerably clear which is perfect for paddlers with basic skills. The cabin is located about a 2 minute drive from the closest 'open all year round' river location. The cabin is 1.5 hour drive from Traverse City (Wine tasting, beaches, cherry orchards) and/or Grand Rapids MI (Art prize, Fredrick Meijer sculpture Gardens). It is also 45 Min. drive from Ludington which has miles of public beach on Lake Michigan. Pleae note there is a approx. 50 yard walk from the driveway to the cabin. Smoking inside the cabin is not allowed. Pets are ok with the following considerations: no wet dogs in the cabin (most dogs love swimming in the river), no pets on the furniture and up to date flea control is appreciated. The cabin is located 3.5 miles from the start of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail which is a excellent mountain biking and hiking trail.
The cabin is located in Lake County which is over half state (Pere Marquette State Forest) and federal land (Manistee National Forest) with endless hiking opportunities. The cabin is located very close to the North Country National Scenic Trail. There are multiple sections of the North Country trail that allow mountain biking and also the Big M trail is nearby. The cabin is located near the small town of Baldwin which has very limited attractions and no notable restaurants therefore this is not the place to come for man made sightseeing that is nearby.
  • This cabin is simply magical and the setting is idyllic. If you are looking for a quiet retreat and want to disconnect from the noise of our day to day lives this is the place for you.

This was a showroom cabin and display model and then moved from its "home" in Kentucky to our home in the Appalachian mountains, just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The bedroom features a brand new, high end queen mattress, double-tiered closet and dresser as well as glass door to the outside. Private bathroom with toilet and tub/shower. Across the "hall" from this is a sink/mirror and small storage area. Family room features a sleeper sofa, and recliner chair, small sofa table, table and stools and entertainment center. Oak log cabins are of the highest quality of the log cabins. Great insulation. Quiet. Superior craftsmanship. DECK: table for four, rolling cart for drinks and food, two stools. Rock pathway down to hot tub and wooden spool table/picnic table and fire pit area. PLEASE NOTE: There is a railing at the entrance to the deck that is not nailed down. This is a No Shoe home, so we ask that you either wear your socks, go barefoot or bring some of your own slippers. Also, if you're bringing pets, be sure to clean their paws very well before entering the house. Please note that we are grateful to have a washer/dryer that fits into the home. The washing machine does have a quirk--it only runs on warm/hot setting. Some special features include: -- Himalayan Salt lamp in the bedroom -- Keurig coffee maker, so bring K-cups if you wish -- Copper pots--cookware -- Recliner chair to watch the trees grow -- If you’ve forgotten your reading glasses, there’s a tiny pair on the sofa table -- Smart tv with Netflix and Hulu Live pre-set and signed in for you -- flashlight -- Top of the line new mattress and box springs and high count sheet -- miniature reading light on bed -- Cute little arched copper reading lamp -- Welcome chalk board -- Copper candy bowl Please let us know if you're interested in kayaking or tubing so we can set up a time to take you up river and you can take out in our front yard (which is down the hill from the cabin--separate entrance. Note: you cannot see our home from the cabin as the cabin is at the top end of the 5 acre lot. Bring your bicycle or your fishing pole.
Stroll the roads and explore this quiet, friendly neighborhood, saying hi to the cows along the way. Head up Pine Run Road to the top of the hill for all-round mountain views, including a Grandfather Mountain profile and the Tennessee and Virginia mountains in the distance. Downtown Boone and Blowing Rock is a short drive. Bike around Todd which is just 15 minutes away, or take a leisurely kayak ride down the New River. Rocky Knob mountain biking park is just five minutes away.
  • My husband and I traveled up to Boone for a one day hiking trip with our dogs. We were so excited to stay in this tiny house and it did not disappoint. We felt so comfortable and at home here we will definitely be booking again. Love the neighborhood and super easy access to the main roads. Highly recommend!

  • I loved it here! The location is so peaceful, especially to get away from all of today’s craziness! The downstairs bed felt like sleeping on a cloud! I loved how they had a Roku as well. My only complaints are that the hot tub lights didn’t work and the couch isn’t that comfortable. Otherwise it was an amazing stay for my boyfriend and it. We loved our tiny cabin!

  • Beautiful views. Perfect for isolation. This cabin itself is more secluded than the others and definitely has the best view. We’ve stayed in these before and the experience keeps getting better the more prepared we are. Mindy is a great and accommodating host! You will not be disappointed with these cabins :) thank you for a great trip! We will see you again in the Fall!

  • Mindy’s tiny house is incredible; such a quaint little place to stay and enjoy how awesome nature is out here! The bathroom and shower was better than we expected, and the grill is really nice. That clear window is as cool as it looks in the pictures, in real life. A good place for more outdoorsy folks.

  • The space offers everything you need for a retreat for one or two. The outside patio was a bonus. In the city, it’s definitely a bonus to have convenient parking and there’s a garage right behind the building. I don’t think you could be disappointed staying in the space, it offers comfort with the right amount of style.

  • This apartment is fantastic. The situation we were in was awful. Coronavirus had exploded and all activities cancelled. What a pleasure to have a comfortable and cool place to hang out given those circumstances. FYI. Dasha and Owen and team are there for any needs you may have.

    Beautiful, cozy and quiet.
Corona virus COVID-19 note: rest assured our studio apartment is thoroughly disinfected and all items are re-washed and dried w/ high heat in between each reservation. A peaceful retreat awaits you in the trees just outside of West Asheville's "locals" downtown! Walkable to Haywood Rd and all our excellent neighborhood restaurants, art and yoga studios, farmers market and pubs. Note: Our house is in a dense suburban residential neighborhood and not outside of town. We have neighbors on all sides but we are lucky that our house is in an urban forest that affords privacy. The studio apartment is below the main house which has its own entrance and outdoor space. Our family lives above and we are very respectful of your privacy. The studio is SMALL one room space (12x15) but well equipped with a hot plate, under counter fridge, small table and 2 chairs and a queen size bed. You have your own small bathroom with 3x3 shower and toilet. Bathroom sink is in kitchenette. A laundry room is right next door and is also available. If you are looking for an unique space that is peaceful and quiet but part of a vibrant creative community you will enjoy staying with us and we will enjoy hosting you!
West Asheville is the best! Quiet and neighborly, it's not like downtown Asheville with hotels and so many tourists but you can get there or the parkway or the Biltmore very quickly by car. Downtown, five minutes, everywhere else, ten minutes. We have our own downtown in West Asheville and there's many excellent restaurants and music venues within walking or biking distance.
  • Awesome place to stay for our first Airbnb!

  • Traveling due to the passing of my mother. I needed a place to rest for the night and Jakub and Maria allowed me to stay in their beautiful space. They were adamant that I remain in isolation once I arrived, and even picked up my food order for me. Their place was both peaceful and serene and just what I needed. Although quarantined, I was able to enjoy the outdoor space on the decks, and the view of the urban forest from the large window in the room. Jakub and Maria were amazing hosts. Very thoughtful and gracious.

  • Oh. My. Goodness. Bill's Travis Heights Hideaway was so perfect for our staycation. We live in east Austin and wanted a change of scenery (since we can't really travel right now) and a pool to lounge by for a few days. The Hideaway is modern, clean, comfortable, and so welcoming. The energy of the entire property is luxurious and chill at the same time. I would recommend this guest house to those who want the convenience of hip, central Austin (easy access to everything) and the privacy of a residence (vs a hotel). Seriously, it was truly a satisfying stay. Oh, and the decor is effing rad! ;)

Our Swedish inspired forest cabin is the perfect peaceful get away for nature lovers! This rustic cabin is nestled in a fairy-tale like forest setting, and is just a short way to an amazing private community beach. Come visit the island you can drive to! Our cabin is a perfect getaway for nature lovers, beach walkers, and those seeking to unplug. Set on 3.5 acres, our guests enjoy privacy, and community-owned access to a beautiful beach, which is a short drive or walk away.
This rustic, secluded cabin is an ideal weekend getaway: Camano Island connects to the mainland via bridge. It is a 70 mile drive from downtown Seattle, (usually about 1.5 hours), but feels a world away. This is the perfect spot for a couple's get away, or private retreat time. Parties and after hours noise are strongly discouraged. If you are looking for a larger space please check out our new "Puget Sound View Cabin + Beach". It shares the same amazing beach access but features a gorgeous water view and two bedrooms. The Forest Cabin features wide-plank pine floors, a full kitchen, and charming gas stove with a window. The sleeping loft is accessed by secure ladder and features a queen bed with down comforter and all cotton bedding. Downstairs there is a convertible sofa bed that is great for kids - extra bedding is provided. While we do allow up to four guests please note: this is a small space ideal for two adults. The sofa bed is great for kids, but adults may not find it a comfortable alternative to a 'real bed'. The kitchen has been thoughtfully appropriated with a French coffee press, a variety of pots, pans, and utensils. We have tried to cover all the basics and you'll find some food staples to use such as oil, salt, and pepper. Please enjoy our collection favorite games and books. PLEASE NOTE: the cabin is a shoe-free home. Please bring slippers or house shoes to use inside during your stay. Pet Policy Dogs welcome with permission (not allowed on furniture, please clean-up pet waste, and sweep/vacuum up pet hair). A pet fee of $20 will be billed upon checking out, or you may leave payment upon checking out. The following conditions apply: no more than 2 dogs, owners clean up inside and outside after the dog(s), the dogs are under the owners' control both at the beach and the cabin, no dogs on the furniture or in the sleeping loft. The cabin sits on a very private 3.5 wooded acres with trails throughout. A private community-accessed sandy beach is a short but steep, 10-15 minute walk on the road, or a couple minutes by car. The beach is sheltered, and faces west to Whidbey Island. The Saratoga Passage hosts abundant wildlife, fishing, and beautiful sunsets. We have the beach completely to ourselves, more often than not! We strive to maintain the quiet, peaceful character of our community. This is not an appropriate rental for loud music, parties, or late night noise. In summer you can pick berries, search for shells, or just nap in the sun. We've got beach umbrellas and sitting mats for you to use. (Please bring your own beach towels if you want one.) Watch the gray whale migration in Spring. In winter, bundle up and see how far along the driftwood-strewn shore you can walk. Please note that there is a short but steep path/trail to get on the beach. It's about the height of a short flight of stairs, but dirt. Guests with limited mobility may only be able to access the beach when the tide is low and one can walk on to the beach via the boat ramp. There is a fully accessible place to sit and enjoy the view above the beach path for those not able or wanting to access the beach. Our guests always comment on how quiet and peaceful our cabin is, and we could not agree more. The stress of city life just melts away and time seems to slow down a bit when you've got nothing on your agenda but to build a fire, open a bottle of wine or take a walk. You'll be surprised what a couple of days away can do! The cabin is about 1.5 hours from Seattle, 1.5 hours from the Anacortes/San Juan Ferry, 45 minutes from Mount Vernon and the Skagit Valley. Check in time is any time after 3:00. Check out of the cabin is 11AM, but you're welcome to use the beach all day. If you need to make other check in/out arrangements I will be flexible if possible. You'll find several good grocery stores on the way in Stanwood to stock up on provisions. The Elger Bay market is 5 miles away with basics, fishing supplies and gas. They also fill growlers of beer and we have an empty growler for your use at the cabin. We keep our guest interaction to a minimum because most guests are looking for a secluded get-away. We are happy to give advice on the area, and will answer questions and concerns promptly. The community of Summerland is a collection of homes and cabins on wooded and beach-front lots. The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet with community access to one of the best beaches on the island! We, along with our neighbors and fellow residents, expect all guests to carefully follow the community rules, especially at the beach. Stanwood, LaConner, and Mount Vernon are close enough for dinner with fantastic restaurant choices. Please note: There is no wifi or internet service. We have a strong cell signal with AT&T. Guests with other carriers report good service, especially at the beach. Additionally, please note that this is NOT a luxury vacation rental - while we do keep the cabin maintained to a high standard, you may see a spider, ant, or such. The cabin is located in an untamed forest setting: bugs, mice, deer, birds, stinging nettles - everything that makes the Great Northwest wild exist here at the cabin. Here's a partial list of what we have at the cabin for your use: French Press hair dryer complete kitchen with toaster microwave oven ice bedding bath towels beach mats (please bring your own beach towels) beach umbrellas that screw into the sand small charcoal bbq basic toiletries & first aid deck chairs
Camano Island has a handful of good restaurants and pubs, two state parks, thrift and antiques shopping, and more. A great low-key island to explore!
  • This lovely cabin was the perfect get away! Elizabeth was a friendly, informative and accommodating host. This was our first visit to Camano Island, and definitely not our last. Thank you Elizabeth, for sharing your cozy cabin with us! Deborah

    Deborah2020-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth's is a beautiful little gem tucked away in the woods. I think the outdoor fire pit was our favorite. It was very easy to kick back and relax here. The sound of the birds chirping was a wonderful bonus!

    Christina2020-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth’s place was perfect for a couple quiet days in the woods. It was close to the beach and state parks, but fully isolated and perfectly quiet. Great place for a weekend away!

  • The cabin is a perfect getaway from city life, with plenty of comfortable amenities but the opportunity to commune with nature. You can cook meals in the kitchen, and enjoy them in the woods by the camp fire. The bed is comfortable and warm in the loft area, and the bathroom has a shower with plenty of hot water, to warm up after a day of wading in the cool water of the nearby beach. You have access to a private beach a short drive away, which was very empty when I was there. You pretty much have the beach to yourself and everyone you do run into is friendly. I saw crabs, starfish, and seals while on the beach, and there’s even a possibility of seeing whales! Overall and excellent stay and I will definitely come here again.

  • Beautiful and cozy cabin in a secluded location! Loved everything about the place and found it very cozy. Made delicious meals with the fully functioning kitchen. The beach was also fantastic and my dog loved it. Next time I'm in Washington I will absolutely try to visit again. Thanks Elizabeth!

The Land Yacht is a classic 31 foot Airstream "Land Yacht" travel trailer, that has been converted into a fully functional Glamping unit. The Land Yacht has its own private deck built alongside it, with a super refreshing stock tank pool, and is situated at the base of large boulder formations. We are right on the boundary of the National Park with stunning views. If your dates arent available here, check out our new Moon Yacht Airstream listing https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/33749261?s=51.
The Land Yacht is a 31 foot Classic Airstream "Land Yacht" trailer that has been converted into a fully functional glamping unit. Please read my full listing description before booking. NOTE - The Stock Tank Pool is not a hot tub, it is not heated, and in the winter the water is freezing cold, so as such we drain, and store it away for the winter, From Dec. 1st to April 1st. Another important thing to note - Given that the Airstream Land Yacht is so much within nature, that nature is always trying to get inside the Land Yacht (they know it's cozy in there). And although we make every effort to make sure that little friends don't get in the Airstream, its a constant battle. So if you are staying there do NOT leave food out at all. Keep your food in the fridge when you go out or go to bed. Do not leave the door of the airstream open all night, or you will likely have visitors. And I really have to make a point here as I have had to deal with several extremely unrealistic guests regarding the nature here. So know this, if you see a mouse, a rat, a bat, a bug, a snake, a tarantula, a scorpion, or any other numerous types of animals here, either outside the Airstream or even inside of it (as people leave doors open constantly..) if you see any animals that you don't like or are scared of and you then come to me demanding some kind of refund, you will NOT be refunded. By booking this listing you are accepting that this area is the home of all these creatures and it is you who is the guest in their home. So if you see a mouse or anything other creature, it is not a symptom of some sort of unsanitary conditions (like in the city), it is simply that one of the many creatures has gotten inside the Airstream one way or another, it is certainly not likely that this will happen, but it is certainly possible, and while we make every effort to seal up entry points and stop creatures from getting in, it is not possible to stop them 100%. And we are not in the business of trying to exterminate the local wildlife, indeed we want to have as little impact as possible. So if you are going to have an issue with any of the above, then this is not the listing for you! I'll say it again.. The Desert is the Home of these Animals and you are the Guest in Their home. There's alot of copy-cat Airstream setups out there nowadays, but you don't have to share your bathroom, shower, or kitchen with anyone else here. The Land Yacht is in one of the most spectacular and unique locations in all of Joshua Tree, on the south-side of the Hwy, up on a hill, at the edge of the National Park, with stunning surroundings and views. It feels extremely remote, yet the highway is only a couple of minutes drive down the hill and Joshua Tree's downtown center is just another 10 minutes west, and the main National Park entrance just another 10 minutes from there. The Land Yacht has a large deck and wrap around seating area built alongside it, for true indoor/outdoor living experience, and a super refreshing large stock tank pool (April 1st-Dec. 1st) Note- Please read my entire description of this listing prior to booking. The Airstream itself has a front sleeping area with a Queen Bed, full kitchen with large refrigerator. There is a dining area in the middle along with a single Bunk Bed. The dining area also can convert into an additional bunk bed. The Land Yacht has AC that will cool the Airstream off nicely after about 20 min or so. (from May till September the temperatures here range from the 80's to the low 100's, so take that into account, and please always try to use the AC as sparingly as possible) Heating in the LY during the winter is provided by a portable space-heater that will heat the space up fairly well after about 20 min or so. Again, use sparingly as possible. There is a hot water shower inside the Airstream, along with the private bathroom located at the rear of the trailer. The Land Yacht is best suited for the more adventurous traveller, and those seeking something out of the ordinary. Please be realistic and give a moment's thought about whether you are that sort of person and will be happy staying in a vintage Airstream travel trailer in the middle of the Mojave Desert, with all that that entails. While this is not camping, it is not like being in hotel or a house either. Call it Glamping, or Airstreaming, or whatever you like. But the point is, it's basically a higher end camping experience, and prospective guests should be sure that that kind of experience is the right fit for them. If all that sound fun to you, then great! You will love it here! Please just plan accordingly, its a good idea to bring a flashlight just to have, and maybe bring an extra favorite blanket or two along for your stay to assure maximum coziness, in particular if you are going to be more than the 2 people that the queen bed accommodates. The Land Yacht is really set up for 2 guests, a couple ideally, or a couple with little kids. 4 adults in the Airstream is doable, but it is definitely a full house, and is not so recommended, unless you are happy to be at close quarters with your fellow travellers. We provide bedding for the main Queen bed, make a note of that please, as anyone planning to sleep on either of the extra single bunk beds should plan on bringing a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow of their own. The large Stock Tank Pool on the deck, has a powerful filter and pump built into it to keep the water clean and filtered. It also will creates a nice cascading water sound when you turn it on that is pretty soothing. Take a dunk in between sun and drinks or soak and refresh after a long hike in the Park during hotter weather. Please note, the pool will be drained and put away for the winter starting Dec 1st until April 1st, as it gets too cold to use it during the winter time here. Also on this property as you first enter it, is the Time Machine house, which I also listed on Airbnb. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4551257 The house is on the front portion of the property and is a fair distance away from the Land Yacht and guests at either space will retain their privacy. Situated further up at the back corner of the property, is the site of the Land Yacht's twin sister, the Airstream Rock Yacht that could be booked on its own or in combination with the LY for larger groups. Link- https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16469493?s=51 Please see the aerial drone photographs I have provided for a sense of the layout. To the east is a vast expanse of open desert and boulder formations, and mountains. Immediately to the south is the National Park boundary. To the North are vast open views of the Sunfair dry lake and the mesas beyond. To the west are view of the mountains leading up to Big Bear. There are a total of 3 neighboring houses, only one of which is occupied full-time and one is not occupied at all. They are all a fair distance away from where the Land Yacht is situated. I mention this only because I have noticed that a few guests were surprised that there was anything else at all in the area, instead thinking that it was completely isolated in the middle of nothing. To be clear that is not the case, but it is extremely private(probably even more so than one of the camp sites in the park) and set against wide open nature. Note Regarding Photo Shoots - We do alot of film and photo production here, so.. If you are a Professional/Commercial photo or film shoot attempting to book this property, I do not accept shoot booking via Airbnb unless directly agreed to in writing by me, and industry standard location fee rates will apply. You can message me directly and I will negotiate a fair rate based on what you are shooting and how big your crew is going to be, and how much equipment, etc, etc. But do not attempt to bring a photo shoot production/or crew in here secretly, without my expressed permission. You will be found out, you will be stopped, and you will be kicked out immediately, with the forfeit of your booking. So don't try it, you've been warned. Thank you, and moving on.. The Land Yacht is a really unique experience, with a fantastic setting, and a great vibe. At night it feels a little like you are in some kinda spaceship surrounded by boulders and stars. It's a great spot to base your Joshua Tree adventure from. This neighborhood of Panorama heights is one of the best areas to be in all of Joshua Tree, and Joshua Tree in general is a really amazing and special place, some call it a vortex spot. If you believe that there are special unique places in the world with an extra special something then you know what that means, if you don't believe in that kinda stuff then you might after visiting! When you book, along with check in instructions; you will be sent my list of local suggestion of great things to see and do in Joshua Tree and the surrounding area. If you are looking at this page you probably already know how amazing and unique Joshua Tree is if you have ever been before.. If you have not been before, then what you've heard is true, it really is that special of place and more, you gotta experience "The Tree", and the LAND YACHT is a great place to do that from !!

  • There few words other than AMAZING that are capable of describing this airstream getaway. My GF and I came for 2 nights to explore Joshua tree and continued to talk about the experience even after we checked out. Crystal was a great communicator and had a long list of great recommendations (hikes, restaurants, stores...etc) that we enjoyed reading and picking from. If you are looking for a place to get away from everyday chaos and experience tiny living, this is definitely it. We will definitely be returning in the future!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Mary’s space was the best Airbnb I have ever stayed in - and Mary was the best host! Everything was so clean and she provided every tiny thing I might have forgotten at home. She gave us several recommendations on food, hiking and breweries and all were incredible. This place is absolutely perfect for 2 people. Any problems we had, Mary was there to fix them within minutes. I highly recommend this place for an intimate getaway!

  • This airbnb was perfectly cozy and so unique. We loved discovering all of its little hidden details as the weekend went on. The neighborhood amenities were an added bonus. Lauren and Jeff were easy to communicate with and accommodating of our needs. If you plan to do more intensive cooking, you will want to err on the side of bringing more with you - there was salt, pepper and oil but not much else. Overall would absolutely love to come back to this spot.

  • This place has to be one of the best Airbnb's I've ever booked. It has a great cozy cabin feel, and it had everything we needed for the weekend away. Lauren and Jeff put a lot of time and thought into designing the stay, and I would definitely come back here again.
