We are one of the best birding destinations in Eastern Canada.Cape Sable Island earned it's IBA designation due to the presence of endangered PIPING PLOVERS, BRANT, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and SHORT SAND PIPER. The nesting AMERICAN OYSTER CATHCHER in Canada are found near the Hawk which is located on Cape Sable Island. There is bird watching for the nature lovers and a short distance away, is the Barrington Bay scenic trail. This area is know for its many restaurants that serve fresh seafood.
  • We were thrilled with our weekend here. The house is in a great location, close drive to amenities, and the lot is gorgeous with the water access/view. The house was immaculate, and the vibe was cute and relaxing. We are extremely pleased and would highly recommend!

  • Stones Throw is a lovely little cottage and is a short walk to the beach, perfect for a quiet retreat. Cozy and well appointed; views from the cottage of the pond and ocean are lovely from all rooms, and the skyline view is is amazing there. We enjoyed several sunny beach walks despite the cold midwinter weather, and plan to return soon!

  • Another great stay. Clean, tidy, comfortable and private. Will definetly be returning.

  • A lovely little cottage in the most southern part of Nova Scotia. Very clean, quiet and comfortable this was a perfect place to relax. Winter is a beautiful time to explore the local beaches including Hawk Beach with the ancient drowned forest. The host was very responsive and kind. We had a snow storm while we were there and Terri-Gail came out to shovel the deck and walk way! Very thoughtful, Eastern hospitality.

  • Glad we chose to stay here for our honeymoon. Loved beach combing for sea glass & listening to the wave at night. Place was spotless, cozy, and comfortable. Can’t wait to come back

    Abigail2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • My family has a summer place in the area, but when my husband and I visited in the winter we knew we’d need a place with heat and insulation. So I went looking on Airbnb and was thrilled to find this little gem right next to a beautiful beach where I’ve walked with my family a million times. The space was perfect for just the two of us—comfortable bed, full kitchen (we cooked dinner each night), cozy living room, and full-size washer and dryer. The entire place was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. My husband and I were both sorry to leave; we will certainly come back if we ever travel to the South Shore during winter again. This is a great home base to explore everything this part of Nova Scotia has to offer. We highly recommend it to any couples or small families traveling that way!

Buy lobsters to cook in the kitchen yourself, you will use the landlord to eat lobster full of professional tableware, although the house has been renovated for a long time, but cleaned very clean, I like this house very much.

Old barn converted to a guest house in 1987. We are on the south western tip of Nova Scotia in a rural, rugged, fishing community. The weather is ever changing from foggy and cold to sunny and hot. Our family has spent our summers in this spot for over 70 years. The lane up the hill is dirt and can be rough. WiFi and cell phone coverage are weak. There is no TV.
The Barn was rescued from falling down and made into a little home for my father where he could escape to write, read, and nap. In his old age he slept in a bed in the living room because the stairs are steep. There is a small bedroom upstairs, and a “dorm” with a queen bed and big enough to hold a crib or cot. The picture window in the kitchen looks out on a large rocky yard/field surrounded by woods. The main house is off to the right. There are 2 stone steps into the barn, and a step down into the kitchen and bathroom. The upstairs walls are slanted. There is a skylight window.
The Barn is on a Hill over looking the ocean. It is a good place to stay for a few days to see the local sights. The UFO Museum, Old Woolen Mill, Old Meeting House, and several sparsely populated beaches are nearby. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, a longer stay would be perfect here.

  • Kimberlee’s place was cute & cozy! Kim was an absolute wonderful host. We were late getting to her place almost 9 pm because we were trying to squeeze every drop of adventure out of our days! She was warm and inviting, Zoe greeted us as well. We couldn’t see the ocean (it was dark) but we could smell it! Had a good nights sleep the three of us tucked up in the loft. The steps are steep but we got used to them fast enough! Breakfast that Kim prepared was delicious! All three of us women were all pleased. We will be back. Kelly, Everleigh & Colleen

  • So friendly, such a clean place and great location. We will be back so that we can take a boat over to see the light house. Kim is an amazing woman. Zoey is so well behaved and cuddly. Kim makes you feel like the place is yours. Definitely a must stay if you are in the area.

    Cam2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a great location on beautiful Cape Sable Island, with stunning beaches nearby. I enjoyed a bike ride around the island with a stop for supper at the take out place recommended by Kimberlee, which was exactly what I was looking for. I had to leave early in the morning for the Barrington Passage race, and Kimberlee was accommodating with an early breakfast. Kimberlee is a great host, and Zoee is the sweetest little dog I’ve ever met! I would definitely stay again.

  • Laurie and Brad's hospitality is amazing: We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed having dinner with them and their exchange students. Laurie puts much emphasis on the details: The dinner and breakfast table were nicely set. There are things like water, snacks and shower/shampoo in the room. Our daughter (6) really enjoyed her airmattress where she slept on.

Doc's cabin is 160ish years old and needed an update. From pics you can see we were serious. Gutted , new electrical, plumbing, doors and windows installed. Oceanside has a 6' patio door onto a 16'x22' deck and new BBQ. All amenities( Kitchen, bathroom, mattresses, sofas, linens cookware, appliances etc) are new. There are some era appropriate side tables dressers etc. Come watch the deer, sunrise, go kayaking or just watch the fog and tides roll in and out
Hi All Quick update JUNE 15 Trim work all done Kitchen cupboards built just need paint Wrap around deck needs a few boards on steps and railing Bathroom done All new appliances in place Lots of new furniture delivered but still in shipping cardboard boxes to protect All new mattresses and linens delivered 5 years of neglected surrounding bushes and trees cut back Floors sanded and painted Built a large outdoor dining table New Wooden deck chairs in place We are back at it again next week for all the finishing touches Some finishing details we are excited about but want to leave as a surprise for our guests It’s come a long long way from a 100 year old somewhat neglected cabin Quick update first week of April: Nothing sexy to report but all new electrical, plumbing and well components installed. Bathroom and kitchen will be all new. New windows and doors installed last week of March Spray foam insulation being applied April 5 with drywall going up that weekend Docs place is 125ish and did not have any true square corners nor totally level floors. We chose to leave some or most of these character flaws (Doc looks more distinguished that way). Having said that all the upgrades are at or above modern code and have been inspected and signed off on by the appropriate inspectors Our price reflects the leap of faith required by our guests that have taken an interest and booked Doc's place for their holiday We promise not to disappoint. Please take a look at our other properties in Lunenburg to see how we like to equip our vacation homes Thanks Jeff & Zlka All new appliances couches mattresses linens bedding kayak bbq patio furniture etc etc Situated on a 2.3 acre private oceanfront lot, 300 of shoreline. Safe kayaking (we provide 2 with life jackets) in the bay . Explore the islands, watch for seals underneath and eagles overhead. Enjoy a drink on the large oceanside deck and watch the deer steal apples from our trees
This is a more rugged part of Nova Scotia. Lots of opportunity for an active vacation. Hiking cycling kayaking and some ATV trails nearby. You will have full privacy along with peace and quiet. This quiet rural setting on the Lighthouse Route offers an expansive waterfront just steps from the deck with panoramic views from everywhere on the property. Just 10 minutes from the town of Shelburne ( historic loyalist settlement)/and close to many white sand beaches. The cottage is fronted by Pierce’s Beach, a usable rock sand beach, boasting at times some spectacular waves. Fronted by ever changing traffic on Shelburne Harbour. Even inclement weather presents for striking photo ops.
Grace Cottage is newly renovated with a bright open concept and its kitchen is well equipped with lots of storage and counter space. Dining area has a service counter ideal for mixing drinks etc. Doorways from both the dining room and bedroom lead to a large deck, outfitted with bbq, dining and lounging space. Living room is cozy . Couch is trundle style fitted with comfortable cot mattresses for extra guests.
  • The cottage was beautiful, amazing views. It was set up with some great pamphlets for the area. We had a wonderful stay.

    Courtney2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Grace Cottage is in a truly wonderful spot, just meters from an inlet where a small river runs into the ocean. The cottage itself was warm, comfortable, new, very clean and inviting. We loved the view of the ocean and the armada of ducks and seagulls that hung out around the cove and the dramatic changes with the tides. Also, it is only about a 10 or 15 minute drive to Shelburne with one of the best restaurants in Nova Scotia, Charlotte Lane. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner there.

The host was very accommodating, allowing early access to the unit, and with great activity suggestions for the are. I didn’t get to enjoy the hot tub or fire pit, but hope to next time!

  • Great apartment, centrally located in Barrington Passage, right by the causeway. Well appointed and clean. No complaints.

  • We truly enjoyed our stay. The place had all the amenities you'd ever need, and more. Clean, stylish and modern. We had a little trouble figuring out the lock system, but Anthony answered his message right away, and the Super was over in minutes. Would definitely stay there again.

  • Great place on the ocean. Views from the deck are awesome! The house is also very modern and has tons of space.

  • This house was beautiful and we thought it was better than the photos. It was very clean and the appliances are all brand new, the main floor is modern, and there is a piano, which my family loved. It is a short walk to the beach and is very peaceful. Two large grocery stores are nearby. Lorraine was very excellent at communicating and checking in with us. We highly recommend this place! Thanks so much, Lorraine.

Bright and sunny home with harbour view is ready for you. This house is off the beaten (tourist) track - come experience what life is like in this small and friendly fishing community. Shop for your groceries at the local co-op and find fresh seafood for a fraction of what you pay outside of the community. Beach comb for drift wood and sea glass from nearby shore roads or take gorgeous photos of the pink sunsets.
Full use of the one story home for you and your family or friends. Great for children and babies as there are no stairs to worry about. All beds are brand new as of October 2019. All the kitchen tools necessary to enjoy cooking up the local offerings. I'm happy to provide you with more details on locals to contact for seafood fresh from the boats or pounds (lobster, haddock, scallops, halibut, mackerel, herring, etc. if in season).
This house is located on the border of two historic communities - one with Acadian descendants and the other with Irish / English / Scottish. It's a prime location for history buffs or cultural-experience seekers. There are restaurants within 20 - 30 minute drives with award winning menus or tried and true local favourites. A fascinating historic village can be found across the harbour. Stop in for traditional Acadian lunches and desserts, and to experience how the community would have functioned 100 years ago. There are also boat tours and kayak rentals nearby.

  • Cozy, eclectic space with what is needed for our one night stay. Would have enjoyed sitting out on the patio but it was pouring rain! Really enjoyed good conversations with our host, Tony!

  • Tony’s place is absolutely wonderful! It’s a bit out there, and it makes it perfect for relaxing and enjoying the east coast. The place is even bigger than expected, and is full of everything you need for your stay. Tony is a wonderful host who is so welcoming and is happy to engage with guests. The stars are absolutely BEAUTIFUL out there, and it’s a rest spot on the water with the loons. We loved it!

  • Tony is an excellent host, very pleasant and friendly. Communication was excellent and the place was amazing...cozy little cabin style, very private with an amazing view of the ocean and beautiful sunset. Fully equipped kitchen. Would strongly recommend to anyone coming through this area.

    Richard2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • tony is the perfect host. great awareness of the area, its history and all shelburne offers. the place is quirky but very comfortable with a sitting area inside, a sun room and if the weather cooperates an outside sitting area. the stairway to the sleeping loft is steep and if elderly or oversize you'd be better off elsewhere. the bathroom is on the main floor so if you need facilities while in bed its a steep climb down. again it is quirky but we enjoyed it and couldn't stop smiling at the furnishings and all the place offers.

Luxury oceanfront!!! Our seaside cottage is a newly built, modern shingled cottage which offers an authentic Atlantic experience to those who appreciate the salt ocean air as well as staying within 25 meters in front of a panoramic, unspoiled Atlantic ocean. Whether it is the tranquil sound of the waves hitting the rocky shoreline, watching the Lobster fishing boats or casting a fishing line off the rocks in front, this two bedroom open concept modern guest house has much to offer.
Bird watchers will be pleased with the variety of species; sea ducks, eagles, osprey and blue heron. Enjoy the back deck while watching the sailboats or enjoying the sunset and the chatter of the waves. The ocean activity is interesting to most as it includes all ocean traffic (sailboats, fishing boats) entering the harbor but can also include seals and the occasional surfer. The cottage includes expansive ocean front windows, leather furniture, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom as well as a pantry stocked with most cooking appliances. This guest house offers privacy and serenity and is located on the same 3 and 1/2 acre property as the owners home. The cottage is on the light house route which is also a designated bicycling route. The nearby town of Shelburne has a plethora of amenities as well as a number of sandy beaches in the area. Shelburne is described by many as "one of Canada's best kept secrets" where one can enjoy the local culinary and cultural events and pursue interests such as hiking/biking (rails to trails) and kayaking or enjoy with local architecture of Loyalists homes. There are many day trips worthwhile exploring to nearby towns of Lockport, Yarmouth, Annapolis Valley, Liverpool, etc. Your hosts will be happy to provide suggestions to guests. Pls. also note that a lobster boil can be coordinated through your hosts. You can purchase lobster from the local store and hosts will assist you to prepare.
  • This is our 2nd time staying at Breakers Cove - we loved our first visit, and this time even more! Maureen and Bill are always attentive to details, from landscaping to interior decorating to providing just the right mix between being helpful and making sure cottage stays have perfect privacy. The layout of the cottage and surrounding property lets visitors feel relaxed and comfortable no matter the time of day, the weather, or the season. Hope to be back soon for another big dose of Breakers Cove!

    Steve2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen and Bill's seaside guest cottage is fantastic. It is tastefully decorated and has all the amenities needed. The views of the water and coastline from inside and outside are beautiful. Even though Maureen and Bill's house is located adjacent to the cottage, it is still private. They are very warm and helpful hosts who respond quickly to requests. The time that we enjoyed on the cottage deck watching and listening to the waves while sipping wine will be with us for a long time. I highly recommend staying at the Breakers Cove Seaside cottage if you have the chance.

    Lisa2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • I am a bit hesitant to write this review but not for reasons you might think. We enjoyed our stay at Breakers Cove so much that we are fairly certain that once word of mouth gets around, we will no longer be able to find an opening for ourselves so would prefer to keep this place "our secret". First the location is fantastic. The cottage is about 100 ft from the water with unobstructed views of the ocean and its tides, waves, boats, ducks and other sea birds. It is less than 15 minutes from the historic town of Shelburne and within two hours of Halifax, Yarmouth, Digby, Mahone Bay, etc. We used the cottage as a base and went out to discover Nova Scotia each day happy knowing that we had this wonderful and quiet place to come back to. The cottage itself is really beautiful with windows all around framing the sea. There was not one thing we could think of that wasn't already in the cottage or available to us. And the hosts Maureen and Bill...fantastic. Hurricane Dorion arrived the day after we did and, except for a few hours one day, the power was off the whole week. With the help of generators, they made sure we had hot water for showers, power for lights, coffee, etc. We didn't lack for anything. We truly hope that we can manage to get back to this gem of a place again.

    Lynne2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot! Great hosts!

    Sarah2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful place - we had a great stay! Maureen and Bill are wonderful hosts. We will come back!

    Kenny2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is everything as described, it is beautiful and thoughtfully decorated. Maureen and Bill were so friendly and helpful and warm. We appreciated the beach mats and chairs as we headed out to the beach one day and you can't bring that kind of stuff on a plan with you! It is so peaceful and tranquil on the ocean and very private. We loved every minute and the furniture was very comfortable too! Only wish we'd stayed longer.

    Susan2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Paradise! Three days are not enough. The view, the tranquility and the hospitality... all were no.1. We will return.

    Louise2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Breakers Cove Cottage is an absolute gem! The view is amazing, the cottage was immaculate and had everything we could ever need for a weeks stay. The furniture was comfortable and Maureen and Bill were wonderful hosts. Super friendly and very helpful with giving us information about traveling around and seeing many places throughout Nova Scotia. They are wonderful people and we felt the cottage, yard and deck areas were all very private. We would stay again in a minute!

This new home is in a quiet location, off the main road. The open-concept first floor has the kitchen, living room and dining area, as well as a half-bathroom with laundry. The three bedrooms and two full baths are on the second floor.
The listing says 6 people because there are beds for 6...but there is room for more...the master bedroom is very big with room for a playpen, or an air bed (both can be provided), or the first floor living room has plenty of room should you banish someone to sleeping on the floor. :) If this listing is booked check out my second listing...all the same amenities!
Pubnico is the oldest Acadian village in the world. All the amenities you will need are nearby, and you are only a 30 minute drive away from Yarmouth. This home is 5 km from Pubnico golf course, near many beautiful walking trails, and there is a gym down the road. There are also plenty of drop-in yoga classes in Pubnico. Pubnico has a Royal Bank, and Credit Union, 4 great restaurants, grocery stores, an Acadian museum, and a beautiful historical 17 acres Acadian village which will give you a tour of Acadian life in the early 1900s. I will gladly show you around, provide you with directions (trust me, everything is easy to find!), and contact numbers for any plans you'd like to make!
  • We found a clean, spacious home. Jackie was a great host, making sure we knew the details, very quick in response to any questions we had and checked in with us via email to made sure our stay was satisfy. Although the road getting to the house is not paved it is a lovely spot. Close to the largest fishing village in Canada, surrounding area was fun to explore. A bit of a drive to Yarmouth.

    Shane2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • My family of 4 plus my parents stayed at Jackie's home while in the area for a sporting event. The house was spotless and beautiful, even better than the pictures. All communication with Jackie was very quick and easy instructions for everything. The house was a fantastic alternative to a hotel as it gave more space during down times and ability to cook our own meals and also go out to some local restaurants. Friends even came in their RV and plenty of room in the driveway to park the RV. Would recommend this house for anyone who is travelling in the area.

Spend some time at the beach! Paix & Repos is our cottage within the small cottage community of Sebim Beach. There are white sand beaches just a short walk away! Our place is close to... Sandhills Beach Provincial Park - 2 mins (walking distance) River Hills Golf & Country Club - 15 mins Barrington (Groceries, Restaurants & Shops) - 10 mins
Our cottage has three small bedrooms, a large main living area, a fully equipped kitchen, 4 piece bathroom, large deck, and a grassy backyard. There is a BBQ and firepit. There is a community playground and field. The cottage is equipped with beach towels, and a big bag of beach toys! Towels and linens will be provided for the stay, there will be no housekeeping provided during your time at the cottage.
Sebim is a private community of cottages and homes. People from all over come to stay throughout the summer. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly.

  • Carolyn's place was the perfect "home base" for us as we visited family and friends in the area. The community is quiet, with friendly neighbours and beautiful scenery and beaches. Barrington is a short drive away with all the resources you would need for an enjoyable stay. The cottage had more than we needed for our family, and the personal touches throughout helped us to feel at home. We would certainly consider staying at this cottage again. Thank you!

The deck, a sunset and dark skies filled with a multitude of stars is all you need for a perfect Nova Scotia night. Secluded and private with no ambient light from any towns, the surroundings are completely silent. Deer, pheasants and rabbits are the only neighbours you will see. So, if you are looking for peace and quiet - this is the place to be!
The curve of the roofline is what first attracted me to this cottage. It is such a unique design! Inspired by the hull of a boat, the space inside is airy and bright and has the feel of an industrial loft, but softened by the use of weathered shingles and hardwood floors. An early MacKay-Lyons design, the house takes full advantage of its setting. Perched at the edge of a bluff with floor to ceiling windows the view of Eel Bay is spectacular. The curved roof encompasses an open concept layout with a kitchen, living room and dining room. Furnishings are an eclectic mix of antiques. The master bedroom is on the ground floor and has a queen size bed, facing the windows and a view of the harbour. Waking up to that view is serene. Upstairs the loft bedroom has two single beds and a small balcony also with a view of the bay. A half wall divides the upper loft bedroom from the staircase and the general living area. It is for this reason; the house is not advertised as being child friendly. On the ground floor there is a four piece bathroom with shower and tub and laundry facilities. There is a fireplace in the living room and a supply of wood for you to use. The coastline is a pebble beach with some sand at low tide. A foot path leads from the cottage garden to the water front allowing you to launch the cottage kayak into the sheltered
Bay Bluff is at the end of a long and sometimes bumpy gravel road on the Blanche peninsula half way between Shelburne and Barrington. At the end of the peninsula (5 minute drive) is Blanche Beach: a long deserted wild sandy beach with a lighthouse off shore. Other beaches in the area include Sandhills Beach Provincial Park (25 minutes), Crow Neck Beach (20 minutes) and Roseway Beach (30 minutes). It is about a 25 minute drive to both Shelburne and Barrington; 2.5 hours to the Halifax airport and 1.25 hours to the ferry terminal in Yarmouth.
  • The location is very quiet and private, saw deer, porcupines and other animals near the property plus amazing stargazing. Also the house is very nice, luxury cabin feel with a very interesting design. Lots of windows to let in the sun and fresh air. I would definitely like to be back!

    Kevin2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in this house very much. The view overlooking the bay was different every day and beautiful. We took advantage of the various beaches in the area and enjoyed discovering the bay by kayak. The ten days quickly passed. Too fast, even. We loved it.

My house was built 100 years ago on 2.5 acres of land overlooking the Pubnico Harbour. Across the street is the oldest house in the village built in 1789 . You’ll have lots of inspiration as you sit around the fire pit at night telling ghost stories. The deck faces east so it’s a perfect place to drink your coffee and watch the sun rise over the harbour or watch the moonrise with a glass of wine. It’s the last house on Old Church Road so there is almost no traffic and it’s a five minute walk to the “Village Historique Acadien de la Nouvelle-Ecosse” https://levillage.novascotia.ca . It’s a great place for cycling, kayaking, hiking or just going to the beach. Sand Hills Provincial Park is my personal favourite, or The Hawk beach on Cape Sable Island. The Pubnico Point Trail is a great hike for kids, it’s 4 km (2.5 miles) and you get to see the windmills up close. If off road biking is your sport then check out the 87 km multi-use trail called the “Yarmouth County Rail Train” . The West Pubnico Golf Club is 15 minutes away. In case of rainy days don’t forget the many museums, craft shops and thrift stores. Consult the Doers and Dreamers travel guide published by the government of NS for more ideas and the exact dates of all the locals festivals. The house has all you need to cook, plus there is a gas bbq. The grocery (De La Tour Co-Op) and liquor store is 1.2 km away, they sell local fish. In the summer, farmers have road side stands and weekly markets. The convenience store near the d’Eon’s Bakery sells fresh fish. The Eel Lake Oyster Farm is less than 30 minutes away and their oysters are delicious. You can always go to one of the three wharfs in the village and fish for your supper. Yarmouth is 40 minutes so it’s very handy if you plan on traveling on the Cat Ferry and the Digby ferry terminal is 1h45 minutes away. Whether you “come from away” or you’re visiting friends and family my house is a comfortable place to call home base. My sister lives right next door and she can help if you have any questions.
The house is all yours. The huge back yard goes right to the harbour. If you have a kayak it’s a perfect spot to slide into the water and explore the harbour. You can pick a new bouquet of wild flowers every day.
  • Conveniently located in Pubnico. 20 minute walk to Dennis point cafe and wharf and 5 minute walk to grocery store. Everything you need an more at the spacious house. Acadian Village a stones throw away. We had two kids under two and little extras such as LEGO and other toys were appreciated. Incredible ocean views from inside house and wrap-around deck. Thanks Rachel & Lorette!

Lorette's home has beautiful harbour view right in the back yard and the home is clean, spacious with all the amenities you need. We are looking forward to another stay. Thanks Lorette and Rachel for making our stay that more enjoyable.

    Rose2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we have stayed at Lorette’s house. It has the best view in Pubnico and is totally peaceful and relaxing. Can’t wait to return next summer. Special thanks to Rachel, Lorette’s sister, for taking such good care of us!

    Charmaine2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lorette's home is in a lovely spot with a picture perfect view. Her home is clean, neat, and has everything you need for a relaxing vacation or rest. Our family, including grandparents and children, loved our stay and would love to visit again.

    Maureen2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lorette’s lovely home by the sea. The view from the deck was spectacular, and we enjoyed kayaking and crabbing down by the water. The house contained every thing we needed, was clean and very comfortable. The town of Middle West Pubnico was spread out and rural, but the co-op was right around the corner for groceries as was the Village Historique Acadien, which was an amazing step back in time, and of one of our favorite spots.

This house is perfectly situated in the Acadian Village of West Pubnico. It is on the main road, with a great mile-long stretch of sidewalk in front, perfect for morning or evening walks. Pubnico harbour is just across the road, and can be seen from the living room and kitchen window. The house is fully equipped with all you need for a comfortable stay; linens, towels, dishes, and washer and dryer. Pubnico offers many touristic attractions, a golf course, and great nature trails..definitely worth the 30 minute drive from Yarmouth if you're arriving on the CAT!
You will find this home to be very neat, clean, and comfortable. The first floor has an open concept eat-in kitchen and living room with satellite TV. The living room sofa pulls out to a queen size bed to accommodate extra guests. Each bedroom on the main floor has a queen size bed, and there is a full bathroom is between these bedrooms. The basement of the house is actually ground level, so there is a door to the outside in the third bedroom. You will find the third bedroom with two twin beds and a new full bathroom on this floor. The house also has a washer and dryer for your convenience. Should there be anything extra that you require for your stay (playpen, air bed or cots etc) just let me know and I will have it ready for you! *more photos to come!
Pubnico is a small Acadian fishing village, with friendly locals and lots to offer. There is a gold course (about 8km from this house), great trails to walk or run, an Acadian museum and a historical Acadian village (with its own post office and a café full of delicious homemade meals!). There is a selection of restaurants serving local seafood (one is just a 10 minute walk down the sidewalk) This place serves as an excellent home base for anyone wishing to explore South West NS...beautiful sandy beaches, guided day tours around the region, sailing tours on fishing boats, visits to lighthouses, Acadian festivals, and great seafood are just a few of your options.
  • Great place to stay everything is perfect . Liked it so much I rebooked. Had a wind storm and power outage and Jackie went out of the way to make sure I was good. I Would recommend this place to anyone.

  • Jackie’s home in West Pubnico was lovely. The house was great— very clean and decorated nicely. We comfortably fit 5 people without a problem and it feels just like home with the decor and amenities. She was there for us with questions and really quick to reply. We love to stay in the Argyle/ Pubnico area as it’s close to Yarmouth but a quaint small town near the ocean. Nice people and with it being a fishing community, close to some great restaurants for fish! We will DEFINITELY be back again!

  • Great spot. Response was quick. Check in was easy. Beautiful spot, very tidy and has everything you may need for a short stay.

  • Recent new build. Ample parking on site. Extremely well kept, clean. Kitchen and bathroom are well equipped. There's also a bbq on the deck. Wifi and internet access speeds were pretty good. Did not try the satellite tv service. Good sound isolation in that the bedrooms are separated by a bathroom b/w them, and duplex units themselves are separated by a laundry/utility room. Quiet, peaceful area of Nova Scotia. You're about 35 minutes from Yarmouth if you've forgotten anything.

  • Trish was such a gracious host. This was our first experience in a B&B and I was afraid of it being awkward. But Trish so welcoming and generous we were very comfortable. Not only did she contact me a week before the trip to notify me about issues with the CAT ferry, but she was so accommodating even with the ferry delays. We didn't arrive until well after midnight and she came outside to greet us and welcome us in. I would highly recommend staying at the Lyle House.

  • Grampy's House offers a comfortable, spacious home away from home. We were easily able to secure a reservation and had no problem getting all the information we needed from Martha with no delay. We arrived to a clean, spacious home that gave us plenty of room to spend as group or individually. If it wasn't the amazing selection of books, board games and even old school video games, it was the dozens of cookies that Martha made for us for our arrival. Will definitely- definitely be back.

    Sarah2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A few families spent the weekend here with young children. We were so happy to see such a kid friendly place- from crib, to high chair, to kids toys and cutlery, it made our lives much easier! The deck even has a gate to keep the kids up on the deck! Check in was easy, and the place was a great setup. We really couldn’t have enjoyed it more. We found a gem called Dans ice cream shoppe just a minute or two down the road and it became a daily ritual. We also visited the nearby beaches which were lovely and quiet. You will have a lovely relaxing stay at Grampys place!

    Jessica2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our group was so happy we chose this place for our retreat. Lots of space inside and out. We enjoyed spending time on the large deck, soaking up the sun and appreciated the beautiful view of the bay. Martha was truly the perfect host. She could not have been more accommodating. Grampys house is a great choice for a small or large group. We were amazed how well it was set up for families...especially those with children. There was a great mix of modern amenities and old world charm. We look forward to staying again and highly recommend it to others. Thank-you Martha!

  • Grampy's House was amazing, so clean and well cared for. Martha the owner added extra touches when we arrived that made us feel right at home. We came into the area to see family and she made sure the house was set up and ready when we arrived late in the evening. The beds were so comfortable I think we slept better there then at home. Martha was so accommodating and answered all of my questions so quickly. This is definitely a 5 star home in all aspects. We are already planning our next trip back and will definitely plan on staying at Grampy's House.

    Donelle2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This home (and it really is a home away from home), is just wonderful. If you have small children, this is the place you want to stay!! Martha was so lovely to deal with and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. The house is spacious and has had many updates, but still has so much charm. We are already talking about when we'll be taking our kids back again! Highly recommend this home and the area.
