HOT TUB open all year! Much more than a place to sleep! Only 5 minutes to beaches of Indiana Dunes on Lake Michigan. Dunes National Park & hiking along the Little Calumet River only 1 block away. Plenty to do at our space too! Air hockey, billiards, ping-pong, darts, basketball shot, foosball, & board games! Comfy beds & full kitchen! Enjoy the campfire, grill, & playground too. Large heated pool open 2020 May 22-Oct 4. Sun, swim, play, relax & volleyball. Love the Hot Tub year round!
***We are taking the extra precaution to sanitize everything between every stay*** IndianaDunes website is a great resource for why visit our area. The Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Park have over 3.5 million visitors each year! The Pool Barn We built a 35x70 pole barn and finished half as additional garage space and the other half as a recreation space. Then we added a 20x40 in-ground heated pool, hot tub, grill, shaded picnic area, playground, swings, and campfire area. The Pool Barn indoor space is about 1200 sq ft. It includes a full bath/shower. There is a full-size kitchen with stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and Keurig. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, dinnerware, and silverware. We have 6 regular queen size beds and a couch that sleeps 2. It is all ONE BIG OPEN SPACE that includes the kitchen, beds, large couch, 65" smart TV, movies, stereo, wifi, darts, ping pong, pool table, air hockey, golf putting, and basketball shot. We have cornhole bag toss and bocci ball for outside too. The pool has several loungers. It is only 5 foot at the deepest so not suited for diving, but great for children, water volleyball and just playing and relaxing throughout. We have goggles, snorkels, and toys too. Bring your swim suits and beach towels! The pool area has night lighting and torches to keep the bugs away while enjoying an evening swim. We keep the pool open and heated Memorial Day weekend through the end of September so it is refreshing on hot days and still comfortable on cool evenings. Hot or cold, sun or snow, the Hot Tub is open and enjoyable 365 days a year! The campfire area has plenty of seating space and abundant firewood available at no additional charge. If we are home we'll even get it started for you. Bring your bikes! We are on the Duneland Prairie Bike Trail. Great trails next door in the Indiana Dunes National Park for hiking or running too. I may even go with you if you'd like the companionship. We also have a canoe and 2 kayaks available to take a river trip or use on Lake Michigan for an extra fee. While you are visiting, learn how to save your life and save your family! Ask for a free preview of "The One Move." Want more? Experience "The One Move" with a 3 hour introduction to our proprietary system of Protective Tactics.
The "Pool Barn" is not located in a subdivision. We have 1 acre on the edge of town and the neighbors all pretty much keep to themselves. The Duneland Prairie Trail runs in front of our home for biking and hiking. It winds in and through the woods for many miles. There are many other bike trails in the area too. A block away is Indiana Dunes National Park, Bailly Homestead and Chelburg Farm with walking trails, a bit of history, a nature center, Maple Sugar Fest and Harvest Festival. The Little Calumet River is also only a block away and offers some of the best Steelhead fishing in the country. The beaches of Lake Michigan are only minutes away by car or bike including Porter Beach, the Indiana Dunes State Park, and Indiana Dunes National Park. Downtown Porter is only 1/2 mile and offers great authentic Mexican cuisine at Santiago's, some great bbq ribs at Wagner's, as well as a couple pubs, and a few churches. Just over the tracks is Chesterton, with several boutique shops, dining experiences, and a Saturday European market too. Grocery and fast food are just a couple of miles away. Our population is roughly only 14,000 but over 3.5 million visit the Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Park each year. The Indiana Dunes ranks seventh among the National Park Service's top attractions nationwide. To learn more about the opportunities our area offers, see IndianaDunes website.
  • Our visit at the Pool Barn far exceeded our expectations! The owners were very attentive to details and provided plenty of suggestions for things to do in the area. The amenities were great, and this would be a great place to spend a few days with family over the summer!

  • So the pictures really dont do this place justice. My partner and I could not get over how cute and well thought out the entire place is. The main area is very well played out with a beautiful full kitchen, dining table and couch placement make it feel super roomy. Huge windows overlooking the property help with the open feeling as well. Comfy bed in the bedroom with plenty of pillows and blankets. The bathroom is also to die for, very well put together. Huge all tiled shower with a bench in it if needed, good quality towels with a towel heater (nice touch for visiting in the winter) and a separate heater for the room which also nice on cold winter mornings. Our hosts provided a great booklet full of information which we used on our last day to go to Ivys Bohemian House and had a great experience there. Otherwise it is very well located within 10 minutes to the dunes park, close to michigan city and a good local downtown feel as well. Definitely planning a trip back here in the summer

  • Awesome spot, really great house. And Nancy is super helpful at all times.

    Christopher2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy’s home and hospitality were outstanding, surpassing all expectations and making us feel at home. She provided all the necessary supplies, going above and beyond to make the experience comfortable and enjoyable. The house was spacious and the kitchen made a wonderful place for our family to gather. I highly recommend Nancy’s place...the hot tub is a very nice touch and there is a short walk to one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.

    Pilar2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy was such a gracious host, and always available when we needed her. So many thoughtful little touches, made it feel like a home away from home and perfect for families traveling with little ones. The fully stocked kitchen (including shot glasses) made cooking and preparing meals so easy. The game room and toys for the kids...so thoughtful and made a HUGE difference. Great house for a great family get away. We booked in late Feb, so there was still snow on the ground...the hot tub was a real treat! We do plan to reserve again in the summer to get the full beach experience! -Develda

  • A fun, comfortable, and large space. Our young children had plenty of room to roam inside, complete with toys. It was lovely to stay there to hang outside in the hot tub or inside by the fireplace, or to hike and wander the Indiana Dunes National Park, less than 10 minutes away!

    Dar2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The space is beautiful and exactly as pictured. The floor to ceiling windows and hot tub let us enjoy the beautiful property even in the middle of winter. Amazing secluded location close to the Dunes. A great experience for sure!

    Samantha2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy’s place is wonderful! We had a great time. So comfortable and loved how hidden away in the dunes we were! Tip: Goblin and the grocer restaurant just down the road is amazing!

  • Incredibly spacious modern hideaway surrounded by Indiana Dunes State Park, magically tucked away in the woods. With ceilings and windows that seem skyscraper tall, it is impossible to not feel one with nature. Favorite amenities included the double-sided fireplace and outdoor hot tub, plus a large kitchen with thoughtful conveniences. Cozy and tidy, five stars all the way!

Relaxed comfort in this neighborhood home. Near Indiana Dunes National Park. (It’s a 10 minute drive to the beach) Private bedrooms and bath. (All bedrooms are at the top of 14 stairs) Dogs are allowable with possibility of dog care. You would share kitchen, living room area with me and my dog. I have a hot tub available for use. Plenty of parking room. There is an extensive bike trail from the neighborhood. There is a nearby train station (South Shore). Stay, relax and enjoy.
I do like to cook and you would always be welcome to join.
This is a nice neighborhood. It is located near an extensive bike/walking trail.
  • Sharon’s place was way better than I expected. The room is large and comfy. The house is quiet and her dog is very sweet. Me and my dog greatly enjoyed our stay. And the banana bread

    Robin2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon is very friendly and sweet. We enjoyed our stay in her comfortable home while visiting family nearby. There was an issue with the shower and she had it resolved as soon as we pointed it out. 👍🏻

  • This is a lovely home with a beautiful backyard in a very nice neighborhood. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom and everything very clean, and fresh. Also, the hostess was very nice and accommodating! Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • My friends and I had a quick weekend getaway in the Dunes and Sharon’s place was in a great location. It’s a quiet suburb about 10 mins away and we slept very well in our beds. Sharon was warm, hospitable and quick to offer local tips. We were able to check out the Chesterton Farmer’s Market and Octave Grill during our stay. Definitely a great place to stay for the value.

    Maki2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quiet, and comfortable. My partner and I just stayed one night on our way across the country, and we got a great night's sleep. Plenty of space and everything was very clean! I did hear some train whistles late at night, although they didn't wake me up, but if you're sensitive to that you might want to bring earplugs or a white noise machine.

    Karen (Ren)2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We needed to check in quite late and Sharon accommodated this. She was very helpful and even offered us coffee for the morning. We never actually got to meet but had a good experience at her place.

  • This was perfect for a nice place to stay for my little girls and me. We felt at home, comfortable and safe, which I don’t always in a hotel. My girls each had their own twin bed in the kids room and I had my own in another, which was very relaxing. Thank you for the hospitality, Sharon!!

  • Darling cottage. By far, the best stocked Airbnb I have ever stayed at! Ed thought of everything, from a well-stocked minibar to a beach bag ready to go stuffed with towels and sunglasses. The cottage is very cute, and bigger than it appears. Loved looking up at the blue sky through the skylight while taking a shower. Excellent location near Indiana Dunes. You will love it. Thanks, Ed!

  • The Hat House provided us a cozy, intimate setting for 4 adults to stay and spend time together. Everything was there that we could have wanted ; kitchen well stocked with cooking supplies, comfortable beds; outdoor fire pit with chairs surrounding, skylights to lighten the environment, particularly the one in the shower; very private feeling of entire house. We spent a good part of each day staying in Chesterton at the very nearby Indiana Dunes National Park where the hiking was wonderful and the vistas fantastic! We are thankful we found such a great place to stay

  • I chose this place because I wanted somewhere close to the Indiana Dunes for OptOut with my husband. It was easy to find, clean, quiet, and comfy. I really liked all the notes that made our stay more self reliant. I knew Dee was available to help if I needed anything, but I was happy to have the space. We also enjoyed the drinks and coffee. Lovely stay.

  • The home was cozy and clean. The beds were very comfortable and there were white noise machines in each room. I had some trouble with the door lock and Sean and Stacy fixed it immediately. The location is very convenient for anyone who enjoys shopping around town and/or hiking at the Indiana Dunes. My friends and I will be back :)

    Ann2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a private getaway! The home is clean, and the hosts are very thoughtful as well as responsive!

  • Sean and Stacy were absolutely great host! Their home was welcoming and comfy and not to mention the amenities and local tips they provide. My friends and I absolutely enjoyed our stay!

    Kania2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was great! The home is spacious and we loved having movie nights in the cozy living room. We were able to make meals and eat them all together in the kitchen and dining room as well. The place was clean and cozy! The host also responded very quickly to all of our messages.

    Emily2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Stacy were great hosts and the location was perfect for visiting downtown chesterton!

    Angela2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Stacy and Sean’s place was right downtown Chesterton perfect location for exploring that cute small town. We had a great breakfast at the Northside Diner and a excellent dinner at Lucrezia both just short walks away. We wish we would have had time to walk the trails that are right down the hill. Stacy and Sean do provide several extra amenities such as coffee, pancake mix and wood for the outdoor fire pit. And there is a tin of cookies and a bottle of wine left out on the kitchen table to help start our stay on a bit of an indulgence note! The house was very clean, but did have a strange odor that was hard to adjust to. The furniture was worn and a bit tired and the bedding could use some refreshing.

Don’t book until reading this listing & House Rules/Manual entirely for rules to bring a dog and NO REFUND within 24 Hours Including Instant Book. This 501c3 Nonprofit Sanctuary for Abused, Handicapped and Senior Dogs. 2 cats live in Airbnb space. We are close to Chicago & Lake Michigan. Beaches, hiking & biking trails are nearby. Downtown Chesterton has antique stores. Read about our shelter on social media under Petite Trésors Rescue & Sanctuary on www.petitetresorsrescue.com
All the bedrooms are on the second floor. There is a full bath upstairs and a full bath downstairs in the foyer. There is a large family room upstairs with the bedrooms as well as a balcony overlooking the farm. Guests may bring their dog but only after furnishing all necessary documentation as listed in the House Manual. We do not accept cats. Smoking indoors is allowed. But in the interest of full discloser, this may not be your idea of heaven. You see, this farm is exactly what it says, a sanctuary. The dogs live in the house with us. They are not in kennels, or out in the barn, but with us every day for the rest of their lives. That being said, we can separate you from the dogs should that be your desire. But what we can't do is promise that you will never hear them or be confronted by an odor if one has an accident. We ask every guest to please let us know if there are any issues. We want every guest who loves dogs as much as we do to have the very best experience they can. And if we ask you when you are leaving if there were any issues, or suggestions, if you don't let us know, we can't very well make your experience better. But please let us know while you are here and as soon as the thought gets in your head if we can help improve your stay. Telling us it was too hot or too cold when you leave is not helping you or us when we can make an adjustment immediately. This is our third year with Airbnb and SuperHost status. We have been fortunate to have been given 5 stars by most of our guests and we have had people who have only been passing through tell us that they would not only return but have our farm be their destination.

  • This was the most unique place my husband and I have visited. Rich and Mary were excellent hosts and we enjoyed the dogs so much! We can’t wait to go back during the warm months to participate in the activities they provide!

    Lauren2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and Rich were super easy to communicate with and awesome hosts. Everything was exactly as described and we had no issues whatsoever! We'll definitely be back again!

  • Great place, near dunes and main streets. Great idea to use the Airbnb for sponsoring a dog shelter. Great hosts!!!

  • Mary and Rich were great hosts and were super accommodating with our last minute check in!

    Paige2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful time staying with Mary and Rich. The house was very clean, our bedroom was lovely, and the grounds were beautiful. Mary and Rich were extremely helpful and generous hosts. Would definitely stay there again!

    Claudia2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and Rich's place was so relaxing. The outdoor gazebo was my favorite spot to sit and chit chat with my husband. The dogs do bark, so if you are a light sleeper come prepared with ear plugs (but they are so sweet you can't get mad!). We would definitely stay here again in the future!

    Alexandria2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The grounds are beautiful. Loved the pond, gazebo, French touches and the king bed was very comfortable. I am a dog lover so staying at a sanctuary for dogs is right up my alley.

    Corissa2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mary & Rich could not be kinder, better hosts. They go above & beyond with amenities — it’s truly a home away from home experience. They sell organic botanicals to support the rescue but generously supply ample products for those they’re hosting as well as a booklet of local tips & experiences offered. Animal lovers + cigar aficionados will feel especially welcome.

The entire finished daylight basement in a 3800 sq foot house. Very nice space. Private bathroom, bedroom, fridge, etc. There is also a couch to sleep on too. Please no kids under age 12 and no pets.
My basement is a mix of comic and sports stuff. But's huge and pretty private too. Also, just got a new queen sized bed this past Winter(2019). There’s a pool table too.

  • Terry's room was just what we needed. We were in town visiting friends, so we weren't around alot, but such fun stuff to look at while we were there. With both of us being geeks, we got a huge kick out of the collections Terry has put together.

    Crystal2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a great spot with intriguing decor! Terry was a great host!

    Kimberlee2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Terry' place is a comic book wonderland. You walk into his house and the entryway toward your room is there on the left. After descending the stairs, you will witness a collection that has clearly taken a lifetime. Unfortunately i did not get to stay as long as i liked, but the room itself is comfortable and the extra space, decor, and bathroom is worth it :)

    Nathan2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Coolest room we have ever stayed in. I recommend staying with Terry.

    Harold2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the pop culture environment! Terry is very friendly and does his best to make sure his guests are comfortable and happy. Guests will enjoy the heater in the bathroom ceiling making the room warm and comfy as they exit the shower.

  • It’s nice place

    Jen2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was about as expected. Terry was very flexible with check-in time and was able to let us in when he wasn't present. Very communicative without being annoying about it. Welcomed us in, but left us to ourselves once there. Definitely a good visit for the simple passing-through overnight we were looking for.

    Damon2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very happy with our stay with Terry! It was a perfect space and location for the 2 of us to stay and take the train to Chicago for the day. Terry was an awesome host and his space was sparkling clean. Would definitely stay here again if we planned another trip to Chicago!!

She made a group of teenagers feel safe and comfortable, helped with great recommendations for a fun time. the location is beautiful and she went the extra mile by showing us the trails. The room was clean and she was very understanding about me have two extra guest and she showed us the room before we made a decision to get a new one since it was a spacious room that was already booked. • This location has great decor, and Mary is a fantastic host. Everything was clean, I had a private bathroom with great water pressure in the shower. The room I stayed in had a coffee maker, and Mary supplied mugs and travel mugs along with a couple servings of coffee, apple cider, and hot chocolate. The bed was a bit firm but very comfortable. It had what seemed to be high quality, comfortable pillows and blankets as well. Also, I'm a bit of an introvert, so I preferred to keep to myself in my room. Mary completely respected this but was very friendly whenever we talked. There's a good chance that I'll stay with Mary again, because I frequent the area.

  • Room was spotless! I was glad to have my own bathroom. I was there for work so I didn't get to visit much, but the house is wonderful & in a nice, quiet neighborhood. I worked overnights & never had an issue with noise or disturbances while I was sleeping during the day. Mary was always quick to respond to my messages. I hope to stay here again whether I'm coming to town for work or for play. 5 stars across the board from me!

  • The upstairs guest bedroom was quiet, comfortable, warm, and exceedingly clean. Coffee machine, microwave, small micro-fridge, and some toiletries are nice amenities. You can log into any movie/streaming service on the smart TV with your personal account. The room is almost completely taken up by the comfy queen and single beds, so don’t expect to be playing any board games on the floor. Location is conveniently 5 minutes from the Ogden Dunes stop on the South Shore line, and also near to Indiana Dunes National Park. Mary is very friendly, as are at least two of the three cats who share the house with you.

  • Mary’s room was clean, cozy, and the perfect getaway from busy city life! In 4 days I visited 3 beaches, hiked at the Dunes State Park, and even ventured 45 minutes north to a winery in Michigan when my friend was in the region. Privacy and safety were top notch, fresh filtered water was amazing after long hours in the sun, and coffee in the morning to wake me up! The private full bath was a great value add! I would definitely recommend to anyone and, next time I’m considering going up to Chicago, plan on staying again (only an hour away)!

A newly renovated peaceful retreat in the woods, close to the Indiana Dunes and Valparaiso University. The Lonely Pine is also a good stop for travelers between Chicago, Indianapolis and Detroit. Beautiful wooded grounds ideal for birdwatchers, nature lovers and those seeking to just relax!
The entire first floor, which overlooks the beautiful wooded backyard
Within walking distance from Sunset Hill Farm County Park
  • If you are looking for a quiet, secluded getaway, this is it. It is on the end of a dead end street and surrounded by fairly dense woods. Had wildlife showing up most mornings, mostly deer and a coyote or two. lots of squirrels and small animals as well. It is about equal distance between Valparaiso and Chesterton, and with the exception of a convenience store gas station, there is no other commercial buildings within a mile or two. Very convenient to Sunset Hill Farms County Park, which would be a great place for evening walks, (if I wasn't staying here in February). I was a single person staying there and therefore had more than enough room and privacy. Consider that even though there are 6 (SIX) double or queen beds (in three different rooms) , only having a single full bath and one 1/2 bath could make for some crowded situations!. Best to go with family, unless you are really REALLY Good friends. Kitchen area is good sized and had very workable and convenient layout. Large Refrigerator and dining area is good for maybe 4-6 people, tops... you would have to eat in shifts for any more. Washer and Dryer work well. I there for over 4 weeks, it definitely got used!! Also considering I was here during the winter months, I really appreciated Diana replacing the garage door opener so that my vehicle was not sitting out in the winter weather. Had two different instances of having a couple inches of snow, and she had it plowed and cleared before I left in the morning. Spotless and clean... Overall I enjoyed this stay very much!

  • Diana's place was perfect for our group! Highly recommended for a getaway in a private setting. Three bedrooms with six comfy beds will fit a lot of needs. Diana was very accommodating with check in and check out.

  • Our stay at the Lonely Pine Guest House was truly a wonderful experience for our extended family. We needed a restful, large, comfortable, peaceful hide-a-way in the woods and that's exactly what we got. Often we just 'hung out' as a family playing games and doing crafts or watching a movie, other times we went shopping at some of the nearby shopping centers and enjoyed dinner out at several of the local restaurants. There was also a lovely County park just one block away with walking trails which several of us enjoyed throughout our week-long stay. The home was furnished with comfortable beds and warm, snuggly bed linens which made for a super night's sleep. She provided thoughtful bathroom amenities like name brand shampoos, lotions, soaps, etc. Very nice, very much appreciated. We were so sad when it was time to pack up and leave. We've already booked another week in May to meet up in this great central location for our family. A great choice for families, small groups of friends or a couple who want a romantic get-away.

With a mostly-private entrance, this upstairs set of rooms is the perfect recently-renovated and relaxing space for 1 - 6 guests. There is lots of natural light and plenty of space. Set in the country, this home has quiet days and nights but near (10-15 minutes) to great food, wineries, breweries, the Dunes National Lake Shore, and the train into Chicago. Coffee/Tea and breakfast bars available in a private breakfast nook in the mornings.
Cindy and I live on the main floor and you will have full run of the upper level. Your optional second bathroom is on the main floor but when guests are here, it's all yours.
  • The listing is as described. Wonderful and comfortable home! Easy check in and everything was clean.

  • Tom and Cindy were responsive and kind. The space was spacious and clean. We were able to fit 5 adults, a toddler, and an infant comfortably in 3 rooms.

  • Great, clean rooms on a quiet cul-de-sac. The hosts weren't home during our stay and they closed doors to any rooms off limits downstairs. They had plenty of shelf space in the fridge but we mainly microwaved any food we had. I saw a lot of artwork and interesting tiles on the kitchen walls. We all slept well and enjoyed the front porch. The place in central to exploring the dunes region, MC, Valpo and Chesterton . Highly recommended!!

    Patricia J2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place with a beautiful view of their charming greenbelt yard. Nice coffee and snack accommodations outside of the room. Missed having a tv available at the end of a long day, but not a big issue. Friendly hosts, with a sparkling clean home. They even sent back a locket my friend dropped in their driveway accidently. Would definitely recommend!

CAMPER & HOT TUB open all year! Our fully equipped RV is parked in the driveway of our Pool Barn. It sleeps 8, has bath with shower, stove, microwave, heat & air conditioning, & running water all year. We are located minutes from the sand beaches of Indiana Dunes on Lake Michigan. Hiking in the Dunes National Park along the Little Calumet River and the historic Bailley homestead is only 1 block away. You may also use our large heated pool, hot tub, grill, campfire, and playground areas too!
***We are taking the extra precaution to sanitize everything between every stay*** IndianaDunes website is a great resource for why visit our area. The Indiana Dunes has over 3.5 million visitors each year! The Pool Barn Camper is 2009 26' with a tip out and sleeps 6-8. There is a master bedroom with a Queen size bed. There is another Full size bed in the back behind a curtain. Both the queen and full mattresses are new August 2019. The couch and the dining seating each fold into Twin sized beds. The twins are each meant for 1 person. We have had some sleep 2 on them though. The camper includes a bathroom with sink and shower. It has a frig, freezer, stove, and microwave. There is also a toaster and a Keurig for coffee. All the cookware, dinnerware, and silverware is provided too. The water lines and bottom of the camper are heated for camping all year! Please remember a Camper with AC, heat, and comforts of home is much more comfortable than a tent, but it is a relatively small space. It isn't ideal for large people or groups to just hang out. A camper is great for enjoying the outside and still have a comfortable safe place to sleep and get out of the weather. So let me tell you about outside... The large 20x40 inground pool has several loungers. Like a resort Pool, it is only 5 foot at the deepest so not suited for diving, but great to have your own space when sharing, great for children, and for water volleyball. We have floaties, goggles, snorkels, and plenty of towels too. The pool area has night lighting and torches to keep the bugs away while enjoying a night swim. We keep the water heated so it is still refreshing on hot days and yet comfortable on cool evenings. Weather permitting, the Pool is open approximately May 1 to Oct 1. When it is too cold for the pool, or you just prefer hot water, enjoy the hot tub, kept at 102 degrees. Enjoy the still water or turn on the jets! The hot tub seats 8 and is open all year! There is large grill near the hot tub and firepit which is shared with the Pool Barn guest. There is now also a separate grill by the Camper just for Camper guests if the main grill is being used. The campfire area has plenty of seating space and abundant firewood available at no additional charge. If we are home we'll even get it started for you. The playground area has swings, slide, tree house, and hammock. Bring your bikes! We are on the Duneland Prairie Bike Trail. Great trails next door in the Dunes National Park for hiking or running too. I may even go with you if you'd like the companionship. We also have a canoe and 2 kayaks available to take a river trip or use on Lake Michigan for only $25 per boat. We will even transport them for you for another $20. And of course, we are only 3 miles from the sand beaches of the Indiana Dunes State Park and Porter Beach on Lake Michigan. Enjoy a morning stroll. Take in the sunset and see the Chicago skyline on a clear evening. Bask in the sun and take a swim on a sunny day. Go hiking in the Dunes and do the 3 Dune challenge.
The Indiana Dunes sand beaches of Lake Michigan are only minutes away by car or bike including Porter Beach, the Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Park. Downtown Porter is only 1/2 mile away and offers great authentic Mexican cuisine at Santiago's, great bbq ribs at Wagner's, as well as a couple pubs, and a few churches. Just over the tracks is Chesterton, with several boutique shops, dining experiences, and a Saturday European market too. Grocery and fast food are just a couple of miles away. Our population is roughly only 14,000 but over 3.5 million visit the Indiana Dunes each year. The Indiana Dunes National Park ranks seventh among the National Park Service's top attractions nationwide. To learn more about the opportunities our area offers, see IndianaDunes website.
  • Very happy with our hosts, very accommodating

  • My 3 year old and I stayed here for an overnight, as we were making our way home and wanted to spend a day checking out the Dunes. The RV was clean and comfortable for the two of us, and had many suggestions on areas to visit including maps of the Dunes, there was a playscape on the property that my little one absolutely adored! After spending a day at the dunes we came back and started a fire, to which Don took time to come out and help us out with before having to head off for the teaching he does. All in all we had a great, comfortable stay, and it was a great location right by the Indiana Dunes as well. We will definitely look into visiting again, in the summer when the pool is open!

Our cottage is nestled on 350' of private beach between the amazing Indiana Dunes and breathtaking Lake Michigan. There are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the 2nd bedroom has a double bed and the bright and cheerful 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds.
We are located near the Indiana Dunes State Park and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. You can walk for miles in either direction on the beach. There are miles of hiking and cross country ski trails (of varying degrees of difficulty) nearby. There are also great dining opportunities, grocery stores, libraries, museums and movie theatres within a few miles.
We are located in a small friendly beach community on the southern tip of Lake Michigan. We have a sandy beach that gradually goes into the water. (Not a mucky or rocky bottom). • Although Mark’s house is portrayed as a lavishly modern home , I think it may have exceeded our high expectations. You can expect to have plenty of space and amenities at this well manicured property, as well as close proximity to various night life options and outdoor experiences. Our group had a fantastic time here and would highly recommend it.

  • We had a really fun stay at Mark’s place. It’s beautiful- like BEAUTIFUL. When you’re sitting in the hot tub it feels like Northern California. The house is super mod and gorgeous with a waterfall out front, moss covered rocks and little frogs sun bathing on lilly pads. We had a bit of a problem with plumbing but Mark was on top of it and had a plumber come out almost immediately. We had a group of 10 ladies and we had more than enough space. I highly recommend.

    Christine2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Mark has a wonderfully designed home with close proximity to all Beverly Shores has to offer.
There is a full bath upstairs and a full bath downstairs off the foyer. There is a large family room upstairs with the bedrooms as well as a balcony overlooking the farm. Guests may bring their dog but only after furnishing all necessary documentation as listed under House Manual. We do not accept cats. Smoking indoors is allowed. But in the interest of full discloser, this may not be your idea of heaven. You see, this farm is exactly what it says, a sanctuary. The dogs live in the house with us. They are not in kennels, or out in the barn, but with us every day for the rest of their lives as in a hospice. That being said, we can separate you from the dogs should that be your desire. But what we can't do is promise that you will never hear them or be confronted by an odor if one has an accident. We ask every guest to please let us know if there are any issues. We want every guest who loves dogs as much as we do to have the very best experience they can. And if we ask you when you are leaving if there were any issues, or suggestions, if you don't let us know, we can't very well make YOUR experience better if not given the opportunity. Telling us it was too hot or too cold when you leave is not helping you or us when we can make an adjustment immediately as soon as we are notified. We have been fortunate to have been given 5 stars by most of our guests and we have had people who have only been passing through tell us that they would not only return but have our farm be their destination. We are SuperHosts.

  • Lovely place, beautiful scenery, hospitable hosts!

  • This home is not to far from local attractions and has a welcoming atmosphere. While I was not able to use all of the amenities, I would recommend taking the time to relax on the gazebo out back and fill your inner need for volunteering by asking to help with the shelter.

  • We had a great night... Rich welcomed us and showed us around. We loved the place and enjoyed our stay very much.

  • Mary and Rich were so welcoming and friendly to our whole family, including our dog. The set-up is great for guests to come and go with as much or as little social contact as they desire. We stayed in the king and double rooms, which was perfect—comfy beds for us and our son, with a door that shut those two rooms off from the larger, shared space. That was great for keeping our dog in line and calm overnight. The decor is charming and the grounds are beautiful. Rich had great tips for dog-friendly beaches and restaurants nearby. This is a super value for a clean, pleasant place to stay within an easy drive to Indiana and Michigan dune beaches.

  • Arthur’s home was very relaxing and peaceful. I had a wonderful time enjoying the sounds of nature this beautiful home provided. And walking distance to Lake Michigan. And very safe location. Arthur is an amazing host!!! Loved his banana bread. Pays attention to detail! Frosted mugs in the freezer! Specialty coffees were provided. Just a perfect getaway. Thank you Arthur!!! I hope to be back in the future!!! Anne

  • Very relaxing and peaceful spot, short walk to the beach. Can't wait to go back.

  • Great place! We will definitely be back!

    Lindsey2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • There is a beautiful sitting space just outside his kitchen that is so very sweet.

  • Art's place is as described in the photos and ad. Very spacious apartment with separate entrance, attached to a large house. Lots of daylight. Clean. Excellent kitchenette. Fireplace for cold weather. About eight minutes walk to the beach. The beach has the most pea gravel and larger stone of any on this side of the lake. So not especially good for swimming. Good for star-gazing. But you can walk west or east and get more sand. About a ten minute drive to Indiana Dunes State Park. Apartment has lots of useful info: park maps on the wall, restaurant menus, etc. We liked that it did not have cable or streaming TV. There is a TV and three dozen DVDs, plus books and games. Mattress is very soft. Though we slept well. This town is unique in that almost all of the houses are on big, wooded lots. It's about 80% woods. So in summer there are a lot of bugs. And the air tends to be moist. Not breezy like at the lake. Convenience stores and gas station are about a mile away. Restaurants are plentiful in Chesterton and Michigan City.

  • Arthur’s place was spacious and very clean. Arthur greeted us at the door and was very nice and hospitable. He even left water, snacks, and some bread for us! I could not recommend Arthur and his place more. We definitely enjoyed our stay here!

There is a full bath upstairs and a full bath downstairs off the foyer. There is a large family room upstairs with the bedrooms as well as a balcony overlooking the farm. Guests may bring their dog but only after furnishing the necessary documentation stated in the House Manual. We do not accept cats. Smoking indoors is allowed, however, the Queen Room is a non smoking bedroom. Telling us it was too hot or too cold when you leave is not helping you or us when we can make an adjustment immediately. We have been fortunate to have been given 5 stars by most of our guests and we have had people who have only been passing through tell us that they would not only return but have our farm be their destination.
Close to Chicago by car or train, close to Indiana Dunes Beaches and downtown Chesterton.
  • Beautiful beautiful grounds! Wish I had had more time to spend outside. So peaceful. A great getaway from the normal grind. And so close to cute downtown Chesterton and the Dunes and beaches. The dogs were a lot quieter than I thought they would be too :)

  • Rich and Mary were both welcoming and helpful as they recommended places for us to dine out. We were able to spend some time with the rescue dogs which was our sole purpose for staying in the Chesterton area. The home is lovely and the queen room was cozy and quaint. The dogs were really quiet at night and the cats were welcoming in the morning. A very pleasant stay for a great cause!

  • Description was true. If you are not very comfortable with dogs and cats probably not a good place to stay. Obviously there was strong dog smell. Also kind of cigarette smoke smelling. Probably a small fridge or a toaster and more light necessary in the kitchenette.Richard was friendly.

  • So glad we had the opportunity to visit Mary & Rich’s rescue. I would absolutely highly recommend It to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area!! (if you don’t mind the dogs, of course). My boyfriend and I love dogs and are very appreciative of the great work they are doing at their rescue. Save dogs with your choice of lodging and book a few nights here - you won’t regret it! :)
