We planned a group trip to celebrate a birthday in Tulum and Casa Shalva and Aviv did not disappoint! The layout, design, and space was just what our group of 20 friends/family were looking for. Aviv was a 2-3 min walk from shalva (where we spent most of our time at together). It’s also only like a 15-20 minute drive to the strip where all the restaurants and clubs are. Huge shoutout to Edna for being such a great host and party planner. She was very responsive and went above and beyond on all of our travel accommodations. From shuttles to/from the airport, restaurant and beach club reservations, the boat rental, private chefs, cenote tour & and so much more!! 😊 1000% recommend Shalva and Aviv for a big group trip… having Edna help you along the way is just a major plus. The only minor thing was the grill was really small… we decided to cook and enjoy the Airbnb on our last there but took a while to grill the steaks. If you don’t plan on cooking then disregard this 😁

Sueno Del Mar: Beachfront, Pool & Chef Service

NikkiRating, 5 stars13 months ago
I can’t say enough about this place! We celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday with a big group and had the best time! Our chef was top notch and even made a few pitchers of Margaritas for us when we arrived that were AMAZING! He had guacamole made for us and was already working on dinner! I can’t say enough good things about him! Everyone was on top of anything we needed. They set up all transportation for us to dinners, beach clubs, airport, etc. The house has the most spectacular views and plenty of space for our big group of 12. This was definitely a trip none of us will ever forget! Thank you so much for making his birthday so special!

Hacienda Caracol - Beachfront 10BR w/ Chef & Pool

SarahRating, 5 stars2 months ago
I would highly recommend this house! The pictures may not do it justice, it is beautiful. We came with a large group to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. It was the perfect venue. The whole property was so nice and it was great for everyone to have their own space and an ensuite bathroom. We did a mixture of cooking and utilizing the chefs. Honestly, I would recommend just doing all meals that you have at the house via the chef. He was wonderful and did such a great job. All of the staff were sweet, helpful, and did a great job. The area is really beautiful. There are two other bar/restaurants within walking distance, which was great when people in our group wanted to go do their own thing. The beach/party area was about a 30-40 minute drive from the house depending on location/traffic. It was great to stay in the peaceful area where the house was and still be able to easily plug into the main beach/party area.

Casa Aviv | Designer Villa - pool - Rooftop Lounge

ThadRating, 5 stars1 month ago
My wife and I stayed here in early May and while several could have joined us, we enjoyed the home as a couple as the common areas such as the kitchen and living areas are not as conducive to a large number of guests in our opinion. Those areas for a 4 bedroom home are a little small, but only a little. One thing not clear in the listing or that we missed is the lack of a television. The first night we used a laptop, but after that honestly just stayed either away from the home exploring Tulum, or when home, we enjoyed the pool and tranquility. It also gave us a chance to disconnect from usual patterns of behavior that do involve nightly television, so for that, we ended up seeing this as a benefit. Just music, reading and conversation were actually best for the vibe. The place is kept very clean and somehow there were zero critters. I would have expected lizards or something but nothing. No insects either. Seemed like paradise. The rooftop is also amazing and we would do it again.

Majestic Jungle Villa | 2 Pools - Near beach

StephanieRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a great stay at this beautiful villa in Tulum! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, there was a lovely welcome basket waiting for us, which was such a thoughtful touch. The concierge service was incredibly friendly and responsive throughout our stay, always available to help with anything we needed. The villa itself was very clean and well-maintained. Daily cleaning service, fresh towels, and pool maintenance. If you’re looking for a remote, peaceful jungle vibe, this is the spot! One of the highlights was how amazing the host and concierge team were when we accidentally left a phone behind. They went above and beyond to help us get it back, and we’re so grateful for their quick support. A couple of things to keep in mind: the location is a bit remote and not super convenient but that was more on us for not researching thoroughly. Also, just a heads-up that there's only one towel provided per per person so plan accordingly if that’s important to you. Overall 9/10 :)

Lol-Beh: Beachfront, 12BR, Private Chef, Pool

We brought a group of 12 for a company retreat and had an incredible time! The listing photos don’t do the property justice. We had a late season storm, but despite some intermittent wind and rain, we thoroughly enjoyed the property and the beach (no seaweed issue!). The staff (chef, housekeepers, grounds people, concierge) were 10/10!! The chef’s food was wonderful. We also got the bartenders on the first night, and they were also amazing! We’ll likely be back!

Casa Yakunah

JulianaRating, 5 stars54 months ago
My family and I had a great stay at Casa Yakunah! We were looking for a place that my husband and my kids could meet with my mother and sister over the holidays and Mexico was a great option since it has basically no travel restrictions. However that comes with the flip side of it not being the safest destination for Covid. But Casa Yakunah was the perfect safe heaven ! We literally did not leave the property and we were incredibly happy. The beach was pretty much a private beach for us with only a handful of people passing by during the whole time we were there. The kids had so much fun, the water was perfect! We also had the rooftop pool to enjoy and cool down. The staff is incredibly attentive and they were all practicing the safest COVID protocol with the masks on at all times. The house itself is the perfect house as it always has windows and doors open and it is very well ventilated and so pleasant to be in ! Juan Carlos was always available to make the best cocktails whenever you wanted one. The chef cooked us 3 delicious meals everyday. We got a taste of all different kind of Mexican food and everything was delicious. Ivonne the manager was very responsive before and during the trip with my concerns and requests and once we got there everything was exactly like we wanted. We spent Christmas there and the kids ( and adults) loved all the details for our celebration including a traditional Mexican Piñata ! I would recommend this house at any time but specially now if you want to relax and feel safe and not worry about what is going on outside for a while, this is the perfect place!

CasaCorazón: Lujoso Paraíso frente al Mar 5-11hab.

CandiceRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Incredible house! we had 19 people on a work retreat. some people shared king beds, and 4 people were in one of the basement rooms, but we were very comfortable. there are 11 bedrooms. they will send you a detailed list of configurations if needed! it us hurricane season, but we're from Alaska and we would have been SO hot if it had been sunny. the views are amazing regardless! it's literally right in the beach and there weren't many people near us. the pool is lovely. the staff were the sweetest people. we had them do breakfast and lunch each day. the food was amazing. we especially appreciated Gil and Jorge, who seemed to genuinely care about each and every person's individual needs. we have never had a rental house with staff before, so it took us a bit to get used to being less independent. we may never get used to it haha. but they were wonderful people. lastly, everything was VERY clean, about which multiple people in my group commented. would definitely stay here again!

All about Riviera Maya

Planning a Riviera Maya getaway? We’re here to help!

You’ll find direct flights to Cancun from major cities including Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, NYC, LA, Miami, Toronto and more.

Explore bohemian Tulum 50 years ago Tulum was little more than beach, jungle, and long-forgotten Mayan ruins. In the far south of the Riviera Maya, the town is now a favorite outpost of the barefoot luxury set. Where chic hippies set out to open beachy boutiques, like Coqui Coqui, with its handmade perfumes and cosmetics, top chefs followed, like Eric Werner whose Hartwood restaurant is the town’s leading culinary light. Last year legendary Michelin-starred chef Rene Redzepi opened a pop-up version of his Danish restaurant Noma, making it clear that Tulum had definitely arrived on the global scene.

When you’ve had your fill of the cool cafes and stores in Tulum town, make your way to the Mayan ruins 10 minutes north for some ancient exploration. The ruins hint at their past as a bustling Mayan town some 800 years ago and boast incredible views of the sea below.

Dive at the underwater museum

Snorkeling and diving are big news in this part of the world – all thanks to the Great Mayan Reef, sometimes knowns as the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Starting near Cancun and following the coastline down, the reef is a Unesco World Heritage Site and offers incredible diving and snorkeling.

One of the most unique ways to explore the underwater world here is at the Underwater Museum in the Cancun National Marine Park. The museum has around 500 sculptures, many by British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, which are submerged between 9 and 20 feet deep in three different watery galleries. Diving down and exploring the museum is a truly unique way to spend day in the area.

For snorkeling, head to Puerto Morelos, where the reef lies in shallower waters close to the coast, providing easy access.

Swim in the cenotes

Take the kids to Xcaret Park

If you’re traveling with kids, a must-visit spot is Xcaret eco-theme park in Playa del Carmen. The focus is on both traditional heritage and local flora and fauna, and there’s a butterfly house, aviary with tropical birds, manatees, flamingos and Mexican jaguars. Every night there’s a spectacular play with song and dance bringing to life the history of the region. The park is right on the sea so pack your swim gear too and make time for a refreshing dip in the lagoon.

Experience the luxury of our Riviera Maya vacation rentals

From buzzy Cancun in the north to fun Playa del Carmen and chilled-out Tulum in the south, the Riviera Maya has a beautiful beachfront town for every type of traveler.

Dip into Cancun

The biggest and most well-known of the Riviera Maya’s hotspots, Cancun has a reputation as a party destination, and its true that there’s a whole host of bars and clubs to enjoy here, plus a number of large resorts. There’s more to the city than meets the eye, however, such as Isla Mujeres, just opposite the mainland, a quiet and lovely island with incredible views and a slow pace of life. There are a number of significant Mayan ruin here too like Yamil Lu’un, and the Underwater Museum is excellent.

Our Cancun villas and penthouses offer the perfect balance of proximity to the city’s many attractions and the peace and quiet you crave for a good night’s sleep.

Stay in Playa del Carmen

Halfway along the Riviera Maya’s coastline, you’ll find Playa del Carmen, simply known as Playa to its many dedicated fans. The town has some of Cancun’s hedonistic feel but is overall more laidback and less busy. The beaches are lovely, fringed with palm trees and the town’s cobblestone streets invite you to stroll around for a break whenever the midday sun gets too hot on the beach. In the early evening, walk along the pedestrian Quinta Avenida and choose a beach bar to stop in at for a sundowner cocktail before heading back to your villa for a chef-cooked feast.

Our Playa del Carmen rentals sleep up to 18 people – making them an ideal choice for a friend’s getaway or family reunion trip. Each has a swimming pool and shaded terrace area, and many come with chef services included.

Find a beach villa in Tulum

If you’re dreaming of days chilling out in Tulum, we’ve got some great options. Our Tulum villas on the beach mean you can wake up whenever you feel before heading straight to the sand for some outdoor sun salutations, the ideal way to welcome in the morning in this luxe hippie hotspot. If your idea of paradise involves reading the afternoon away on a sun lounger under a palm tree, you’ll be in heaven at one of our Tulum villas.
