Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Mainland

Once again. Our second visit to The Noddle. Top review for this wonderful property. Lots of quirky lovely additions to the decor. The hosts fabulous artwork on the walls throughout were a delight. All we needed was at hand, and plenty of room for all 6 of us on our mahjong game tour. Clear instructions for all the carefully maintained heating units and other electrical appliances and all wall switches/sockets clearly labelled. Lovely maintained house and garden-including the 'secret garden'. A great decking with comfy chairs to sit in the sunshine and listen to nature... and count the bunnies! What more can I say.? Thank you Tony and Penny for letting us stay in this wonderful place.

My friends and I loved the space and light and comfort of the Kirk. We came all the way from Norfolk on trains and ferries and fell in love with the land and seas and community of Hoy. The peace is deep here ... no background hum. I love to see the sea around me. We cycled over to Rackwick Bay which was exhilarating and went to cafe church at Emily's which was connecting. This was our families favorite place to stay. Beautiful area, house has lots of amenities, central to the places we wanted to visit, and quiet. Sharon was a great host. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone staying in the Orkneys.

Beautiful space. As a family we enjoyed cooking together & playing games in the evening. The hot tub was great, we used it everyday. The views from every room were amazing and it was so peaceful and tranquil. Local neighbours farmers and the wildlife were all very friendly. It was welcoming from the moment we arrived. Ideally located to visit places and a short drive into Kirkwall. Would highly recommend and define visit again. Very friendly and accommodating hosts!

Difficult to find words good enough to praise this accommodation, it was so perfect. Spacious, light, very clean and comfortable, plus with the most stunning of sea views. We were very sad to leave it. The area of that part of Orkney is well worth exploring and we discovered a lot of places we had not known about. Helen herself is an extremely friendly and helpful person and provided a basket of treats for our arrival.

We really loved our first week on Orkney a big part of which was this fabulous accommodation. We loved the view from the lounge window. We also loved cycling to Deerness and seeing the Group, lunch at the distillery was very welcome. On our last day whilst waiting for the overnight ferry to Shetland we went to Rousay and had a lovely ride around the island. Hope to be back one day.

The apartment is a gem. So clean, comfortable, well equipped and in a great location. Magical views out to sea . Really comfortable bed. Great communication from Yuka with really helpful local info and directions. Will definately be back.

The flat is perfect for a visit to Kirkwall . The location means you can walk everywhere. It was clean comfortable and warm. Having the washing machine was very useful and access to a washing line outside also. Inspite of the central location we found it very quiet.

It was wonderful staying at Jean’s place. Beautiful and cozy home away from home. Attention to details is worth calling out and we would highly recommend this stay at Jean’s. Jean and Donald are so kind. So I would want to not consider them just hosts but super hosts.

Great flat in centre of Wick. Lots of space to relax and good amenities in the kitchen

The flat is a little gem with lots of little added things to make it pretty: pictures, photos, nice curtains etc. When we arrived the electric fire and classic FM were on. A special touch. Super quiet. The view is amazing and it is only 10 minutes walk to Stromness. Super easy to access by car and then travel into the island. Highly recommend.

Only issue we had was, that we didn’t stay long enough!! We will be returning and staying for much longer!! The cabin was warm, clean, had everything we needed, the bed was comfy, hot tub was nice and hot! View was outstanding! We also loved how private it was. One of our favourite places we have stopped this year!

A great location close to the ferry terminal which was ideal! Very picturesque location with amazing views over the bay and a couple of shops and restaurant in walking distance. The flat was exactly as expected from the description and was perfect for us 🙂

Though our stay was unexpectedly cut short, I would try to come back in his place if time permits.

Fantastic! I’ve stayed in a lot of different types of accommodation over the years but this was the best. Immaculate in every way and very thoughtfully presented. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or go back to this property. Ten minute walk to the town centre. Friendly host next door but didn’t intrude. You won’t be disappointed!

This place was well located for activities in Wick. Clean and comfortable. Bonus having washer and dryer. The Heritage Museum is a 2 minute walk away and one of the best museums I’ve been to. Great walks on the cliffs from the door and a short drive to Reiss beach which is lovely.

Leona's place was spacious and comfortable, very thoughtfully set up for travelers. Kitchen was equipped (we really do use the kitchen when we travel) and even had a few spices which was nice. Great view from kitchen and deck across the Loch of Stenness to see from afar the Ring of Brodgar standing stones. The location! Really great, walkably close to a few historic sites -- standing stones and ring of brodgar and the maeshowe cairn. And also next to a small supplies shop which was handy. And best of all -- a bus stop that runs to Stromness and to Kirkwall about every hour. Can also bus to some of the main sites. Leona met us and got us settled in, was a great stay. Thanks!

We absolutely loved Inner Magnolia! So quiet and peaceful and such great hosts. It has a very large bedroom and lounge and loved all the environmental cleaning products. We will definitely go back!

This cosy flat is in a central Kirkwall location in an interesting old building. Everything was just right- clean and comfortable. Really excellent bathroom & loads of hot water John, friendly and approachable was right there if we needed anything.

We enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean and very comfortable, well kitted, spacious. Great location!
