Family-friendly holiday rentals in Loch Shiel

We stayed at Mackenzie House as part of a Hen weekend. The house was amazing and exactly what we needed! The surrounding area was gorgeous and we all loved being surrounded by the deer and other wildlife!

Wallace Lodge was by far the most beautiful and peaceful of our entire trip. The house was the perfect mix of modern amenities with a rustic feel, everything from the private Loch to the sheep in the surrounding fields made our stay even that much better. Wallace was a most helpful and gracious host, from letting us check in s little early, to showing us how to work the appliances. The hot tub overlooking the private Loch was the icing on the cake for this amazing place. would definitely come back here for a vacation.

The Squirrel's is more than a home-from-home, not just that it is clean, comfortable and has everything you could need, but it add's that special something, and that is being in a peaceful, relaxing spot in the countryside of Aveimore. Sarah really has made the Squirrel's a place you can enjoy coming back to after a long day out - and actually, if you are not into walking or any of the other activities you can do in Aveimore - you can just sit back and relax in this wonderful home. It's only a short walk to all the restaurants and shops you could need, but nicely tucked away that you won't be bothered in the busy season.

Absolutely phenomenal find in the middle of nowhere. Stunning house, very clean, cute wee tea and coffee left for our first morning. The hot tub was warm, clean and in a fantastic location. What a great weekend we had. Thank you Nina 🩷

Absolutely fantastic location, out of the way and really peaceful. Another Airbnb next door but was exactly as advertised and contact with other guests was minimal and no issue at all. Perfect for a Scottish getaway in the Trossachs. The accommodation was clean, tidy and so well decorated - a home from home! Alison and Matt were so accommodating. Really helpful and friendly. We even asked about bringing a BBQ and they kindly offered their own for ease. Would absolutely recommend the stay to family and friends! Thank you for a lovely stay, 5*

Secluded, peaceful, private property with a river at the bottom of the garden. Bright, airy, clean, well furnished accommodation. Loved the log burner. Very well attended clean hot tub. Owners were very attentive for any needs should they be required but not intrusive at all. The bedrooms were clean and well furnished with fully equipped bathrooms - upstairs and downstairs. Great towels provided. Plenty of space to have a quiet time inside or outside from the hot tub or seating area at the large table with chairs. Beautiful views of the river and fields through the French doors. Nice touch of freshly baked scones welcomed us on arrival. Unfortunately we could not spend much time enjoying the property over our 3 day stay due to our daughter’s wedding but we would definitely love to return again. A great property to spend time as a family with children as there is an outside play area for children and huge amount of board games and toys available in the house.

Fantastisk omgivning och rymligt, vackert och praktiskt hus med en personlig touch. Roliga sällskapsspel. Allt du behövde i köket och i övrigt fanns. Bra förvaring om du stannar längre. Tydliga och enkla instruktioner. Mycket sköna sängar (!).

Beautiful cottage. Felt out of the way but was close to road into portree. Very warm building, bathroom and rooms superb. Would highly recommend and revisit. Visiting sheep was an added bonus!

Wir hatten eine wundervolle Woche zu dritt im Juni in diesem netten Häuschen und wären gerne noch länger geblieben. Alison war sehr nett! Eine Mappe mit nützlichen Tipps liegt bereit. Alles rund ums Haus ist darin genau erklärt (wie funktionieren Heizung und TV...) und sie gibt auch Tipps für Ausflüge. Die Zimmer sind gemütlich und liebevoll eingerichtet, die Küche sehr gut ausgestattet. Wir würden sehr gerne wieder hier wohnen und können das Haus sehr empfehlen.

Ronnie's place was perfect for our first trip to Scotland. The surrounding area is gorgeous, mountains, sheep, and cows as far as the eye can see. Your view out the dining room window is perfect. We had everything we needed, plus the little shop in Glenelg for necessities. The ferry to Skye was a fun experience and very easy to get to. Our group of 5 stayed four days and were very comfortable. Only downsides are the midges making it tough to keep the windows open and the rain making it tough to dry clothes on the line - but not like Ronnie could've done anything about that!

La promesse de la vue était fabuleuse et nous avons pas été déçus. Si vous recherchez un endroit paisible et isolé, c’est l’endroit parfait. Il n’est pas parfaitement placé si vous cherchez les endroits touristiques à visiter mais le lieu se suffit à lui même pour quelques nuits et il est parfait pour se reposer et profiter du calme. Les chambres et pièces de vie sont très belles et bien décorées. Merci de mettre une belle maison comme ça à disposition.

Words cannot express the wonderful week we have had on Loch Katrine. Old Smiddy is ideally located for hiking the mountains, lochs and woodland and Carole has thought of all you need to make it feel like a home from home. Having our morning tea watching the Barn Swallows and House Martins catching their breakfast on the lake in the sunshine was very special. Aberfoyle has all you need for food and cute shops and fantastic Doone Hill walk from the town - Free Parking!!! A ferry trip on the Sir Walter Scott from the pier over to Trossachs Pier is a MUST and the Primrose Hill hike was stunning. The Pier Cafe is outstanding, definitely worth a treat and just a short walk away. Thank you Carole for sharing your amazing house, we will be back to enjoy the hot tub and sauna 🤞

The house is in a wonderful beautiful location. But be aware you have no local shop so you do need stock up in Fort William . We did know that because we were visiting for a Family wedding. The communication from Christina was perfect. We were a full 8 and there is plenty of room .

Well, where do we start. This place was the country pace and experience we were looking for. We like the country, we don’t mind the things that come with it. Liz was kind, very intentional and the home felt like home. The bedding was very firm and we had a few stiff necks, but we were too busy having fun!

Die Unterkunft ist wirklich richtig schön. Wir haben uns gleich wie Zuhause gefühlt. Auch die Hunde, schließlich hatten beide Hunde eine Couch für sich :-). Im Haus gibt es alles, was man braucht und mehr. Für unser Wohl war mit Müsli, Broz, Kaffee, Milch und vielem Mehr gesorgt. Der Garten am Haus ist fantastisch, sehr weitläufig. Perfekt für eine kleine abendliche Gassirunde. Joanne ist eine tolle Gastgeberin. Wir hatten ein WLAN Problem und sie stand uns direkt zur Seite, um das Problem zu lösen (wir wollten online an einer Hochzeit teilhaben). Wenn ihr Ruhe und Entspannung sucht sowie einen tollen Kontakt mit den Gastgebenden, dann geht unbedingt zu Joanne.

A great getaway with loads to do close by for whatever mood you're in - great towns and cities like Calendar and Stirling less than half an hour away, equally beautiful countryside and multiple waterfalls, lochs and walks to choose from on the doorstep. Our toddler loved the on site swimming pool and the grown ups enjoyed the peaceful views from the hot tub too! Rosie was so friendly and accommodating.

The staff on site and host were very responsive in all the messages. I love taking an evening walk around the lake where it’s peaceful and quiet. Thank you so much for hosting us.

This Airbnb exceeded our expectations! The location was breathtaking, with scenic views and easy access to local attractions. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and perfectly appointed. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway

Recently visited Pleasant Hill for Hen Weekend. We had previously been let down by another house and Chris was extremely helpful and reassuring. 17 of us stayed for the weekend and the house was perfect for what we needed it for. Chris was in constant contact with me, gave plenty of recommendations for local amenities and attractions and was flexible on check in and check out times. For such a large party, buying food was a concern of mines but he suggested we do an online shop beforehand and offered to collect it and put it away for us before we arrived. This really was a massive help and greatly appreciated, it was one less worry and concern I had in the run up to the weekend. Our bride and all guests had a fantastic weekend. Thank you!

This garden cottage was straight out of a romantic fairytale! The gorgeous garden surrounding the cottage and the view of the water and misty rolling hills framed perfectly by a stone wall and ivy were just breathtaking (especially while sitting in the wood fire heated hot tub). The cottage itself was incredibly cozy. We had nearly gotten stranded on Islay with car issues and we weren’t even sure we’d get to enjoy this stop on our holiday. By the time we arrived, we were completely exhausted from the chaos of the previous 24 hours so this relaxing and welcoming space was exactly what we needed to decompress. ☺️ The cottage was well equipped and very clean! We had everything we needed and then some. Caroline was an exceptional host. She was remarkably responsive and lovely to interact with both prior to our stay (when we weren’t sure we’d be able to make it) and during our stay! Anyone with the opportunity to stay here, should absolutely do it! Thank you for everything, Caroline!!

Amazing homely cottage in a nice private location. This was our last night of rest post-NC500. A shame we only stayed a night, could easily have done a few more and really explored the amenities in the village. Nonetheless a fantastic stay, very comfortable and friendly hosts.

Another wonderful stay here. Cozy, comfortable caravan with a beautiful, peaceful view. Spotlessly clean, great shower, comfy sofas, helpful hosts. Perfect for watching the world go by outside. Can't wait to return next year!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, Douglas is an attentive host who was available when needed. The bungalow was equipped with everything we needed for cooking and resting which was much appreciated as our stay was over Christmas! Douglas very kindly gifted some wine and chocolates and he was there for our arrival to show us around the house, giving some useful information on nearby shops, places to eat and things to do. We were unfortunate with the weather; however, the bungalow was very cosy and thoughtfully decorated for Christmas and time spent inside looking out at the fabulous views made up for it!
