Retreat to the Campsies

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Lodge. The Lodge itself was exactly as it is pictured and exceeded our expectations. The views were incredible and we would love to come back and stay again. A truly lovely weekend break.

The Retreat Hut

AndrewRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This was an unforgettable place to stay. Where else can you have your own stone circle, jetty and a rock with Neolithic carvings? The location is right next to the loch with a stunning uninterrupted views. We sat on the veranda which is dry in all weathers and watched the changing light and teeming birdlife: there were swifts, swallows, geese, swans, wagtails and an oystercatcher... It is a wild and private retreat, but the internet is brilliant, the kitchen and shower function well. We were warm and cosy at night. We will dream about coming back!

Gamekeeper's Lodge -spectacular lake view

RicRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We absolutely loved our stay — it was everything we hoped for and more. The views were breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect escape. Our dog, Clover, had the best time too and made a new best friend in Bertie (Ronnie and Laura’s lovely golden retriever). It felt like home and we were genuinely sad to leave. Can’t recommend it enough — thank you so much for such a special experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The West Wing at Duchray Castle

TomRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Outstanding visit, more than a place to rest your head, an unforgettable experience. The elegant castle exterior (West Wing) and grounds are matched by the lovely decor inside. The palette, furniture, artwork and textures were perfect. Many unique features that we'll always remember- lovely drive in from town, grounds to explore, pond with its waterfowl and lily pads, abundant blooms (rhododendron, roses, lavender, peonies and wisteria). We were fortunate to spend a little time with the exceptional host couple. It was difficult to leave, but easy to plan a return! The town of Aberfoyle has a well-stocked Co-op, many coffee shops and a special deli for local Scottish meat pies. Golfers will appreciate Aberfoyle Golf Club where we play a delightful round.

Red Squirrel's Drey

EllaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a tranquil and peaceful couple of days in Red Squirrel’s Drey. The cabin is equipped with lovely hot water and heating so you are never cold. I’d recommend hiring bikes from aberfoyle as this was a highlight to our trip as we got to see the beautiful sights in a way you will not see in a car. I would also suggests preparing food before coming as I would not recommend the faerie tree inn, the food is very basic. The black bull inn is a nicer experience, but again the food is not that great. Apart from that we loved the airbnb and had the best time :)

Nature retreat with home made bread

JeanetteRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a lovely stay, making the most of the fantastic area despite the changeable weather! Thank you Victoria and Ewan for providing such a comfortable place for us to stay. It was immaculate and just as described. The bed and shower were top notch! It was lovely to arrive and find home-made bread, which was delicious, and it was helpful to have the other basic essentials provided. Everything we needed for our short stay.

Stunning Timber Longhouse

RosieRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We loved our stay! Christoph is very communicative, providing detailed instructions on how to get there and check in. He also provided some local recommendations and was very responsive. There was also a house manual upon arrival with key details. The house was lovely and spacious, equipped with everyday items. There is a fire pit and outdoor patio area with a table, chairs and benches and the view is stunning, looking onto Gare loch. All rooms are beautiful and the beds were really comfortable. The area is nice, you do need to drive to places for a shop or walks but everything you need is within a 10/15 minute drive. We brought our dogs along and they enjoyed it too. The garden is enclosed, with a few gaps where they could escape, however none of them did. Plenty of space to run around, both outdoors and indoors. Would recommend this stay, it's lovely and peaceful.
