Family-friendly holiday rentals in Houghton

What an amazing gem! Tucked away, but with plenty of amenities that you would fine at a modern, big-city hotel. Great family space, with privacy, but also big family spaces. A perfect fit for our family team in town for a race. We will be back!

This house was exactly what we were looking for when booking for my bachelorette trip. It was private, relaxing, and was surrounded by beautiful views. Unfortunately it was not warm enough for the pool during our stay, but the hot tube and sauna were amazing. The cliff at the water’s edge was even better than the pictures. Cheryl was always on top of responding whenever anything came up, or for any questions we had before and during the stay. She was an amazing host, and I would definitely stay here again when going to the UP.

We've been staying at the Oak Street Inn for many years. It's always the first place we look at when planning a trip to Calumet. We look forward to staying there again for our next trip.

The Oak Tree Inn is a great place to stay for anyone visiting the Upper Peninsula. James is a great host.

Ross’s place is super special, we loved our stay and hope to return! It’s cleaner, brighter, friendlier, comfier and airier than the photos and just to echo everyone else the view is intoxicating and of course can’t be captured in photos. Host was kind, helpful and responsive. Immediate area is very sleepy which is what we were seeking. Amenities were aplenty. Thanks Ross and family!

I was looking for the place that would feel like home away from home where my entire family (fur babies included) and I could unwind, relax, and enjoy time together the weekend of my first marathon. This place was perfect. Kayaking was so much fun, the spacious kitchen made dinner times and breakfasts so special, and my doggo loooooved swimming, running around and going on walks. Even my cat felt right at home! It really felt like home. The amenities were also a great plus. It was my mom’s first time in an Airbnb, and she was so impressed with absolutely everything. Thank you Charlie and Shelly!! Everything was perfect. ☺️❤️

It was a wonderful place to visit. The house felt very welcoming, and everything you could think of that you'd need was available to you. 10/10 would recommend this to others. We also plan to rebook here to explore more of what the UP has to offer! The host was so kind and responsive! Can't say enough good things about our stay.

Wonderful place with Lake Superior access that feels secluded but is only a few mins to town. Was clean and comfortable, would definitely stay again!

Philip is an extremely friendly, kind and accommodating host. Everything was well communicated which made our arrival and check in stress free. We had a minor issue during our stay that was no fault of Philip’s and the issue was completely unexpected. Immediately upon notifying Philip he went above and beyond to correct the issue and accommodate us in any way possible to keep it from affecting our stay. We were so pleasantly surprised at his response and desire to help. Truly amazing and unheard of customer service in this day and age. I honestly can’t say enough good things about him! You can’t ask for a better host or a more lovely property. Everything was clean and comfortable. The setting is peaceful, cozy, and private. And the cabin and surrounding area is lovely and truly a little piece of heaven. Thank you, Philip, for a lovely weekend at North Shore Cottages. Hope to see you again soon.

This cabin was exactly as described and pictured. We loved the open floor plan and surprisingly spacious bathroom especially. While chilly most of our trip, we opened the windows the first afternoon and got an amazing cross breeze. Eagle Harbor is just the perfect location, and this cabin is pretty centrally located, but closer to the lake to hear those amazing waves. The house was well-equipped with extra cleaning supplies, dishes/utensils, puzzles and games, and books and pamphlets on local attractions and history. There was a little hiccup with check in, but Rodney was SO responsive and immediately had us on to plan B and inside! We’re already looking ahead to our trip next year, and the single thing keeping me from already having this place booked again is that we’ll have a baby with us and I don’t think a pack and play will fit in the main bedroom. It’d be great for older kids with that loft space, though!

We had a great stay at this property. Everything was as promised. The house was spacious, peaceful, and clean. The hosts were proactive with their instructions and made it easy to find and enter. Cozy, quaint, and comfortable! Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

This is a warm, old farm house on a beautiful property. My son set up his tent next to the pond on the property too. The house is clean, charming, and comfortable. Nancy has filled it with historical photos from the area <3 The kitchen is equipped with cookware and dishes, along with a fridge to fill with your own items. Houghton is a 15 minute drive up the road with a grocery store and restaurants. So you're in the woods but close to town. There are some great trails on the property, but there are also some spectacular falls within a 20 minute drive. We felt right at home and hated to leave! Thank you for the spectacular stay Nancy!!

Great host, place was clean, and as described! Would definitely stay again. Apple Maps guides you past the home, but the host was proactive and turned on some blue lights on the eve. Easy to find! Comfortable home.

This cabin was cozy and wonderful!! We made great use of the screened porch and bonfire. We were able to enjoy the boat as well on a calm day, and the lake was beautiful! We watched Hummingbirds constantly come to the feeder on the porch, as well as an Eagle family hunt and fish. They were nested just a couple houses down. This place is pretty well stocked, and we felt right at home. Steve’s dvd collection is curated and wonderful! Perfect for comfy nights upstairs. This is a peaceful location, but we were within a 20-minute drive to several of the UP towns with activities and were quite close to the Delaware mine and beautiful beaches. Mt Bohemia is super close is you’re coming in the wintertime. Steve was a wonderful host. Highly recommend this cabin! Wish we could have stayed longer. Hope to be back!

Historic and cozy accommodations in the heart of the Keweenaw. This was a great place to stay, cook breakfast and recuperate after long days exploring all the peninsula has to offer.

A great stay, quick to go into Houghton and still private. Bike trails and kayaks were a major positive.
