Had a great stay in the small apartment. Very fully furnished. A wonderful location to completely relax and unwind. You should not be very afraid of spiders and mosquitoes :-)

Great place to stay for a weekend getaway. Located within walking distance of the water, restaurants and the shopping street of Grou. Well-kept and tidy apartment with comfortable furniture and a good bathroom. Overall, definitely recommend and going on our list to revisit when we’re in the area again.

An idyllic, quiet spot on earth – perfect for those looking for a break from everyday life. The car can stop, because the boat provides a lot of fun. Host Fia is extremely friendly and helpful. The house itself offers all the necessary amenities for a relaxing stay

We have just come to the end of a peaceful and productive “work-cation” at ‘Boartlik Begjin’ in the Huizum residential area of Leeuwarden. The converted kindergarten (several original features have been retained, and photographs inside illustrate the school in its original form) is less than 15 minutes from Leeuwarden’s centre, while just five minutes away is Schrans, a thriving neighbourhood shopping area. Secure parking is available outside ‘Boartlik Begjin’ – our van and bicycle rack easily fitted into the space. Two guest bicycles are also provided, and we enjoyed superb cycle rides (using the ingenious Dutch cycle junction system, or ‘knooppuntensysteem’) following the original Elfstedentocht speed-skating tour of 11 historical cities of Friesland. Jolande and her family are delightful hosts: vases of beautiful fresh flowers were placed throughout the living and dining room, as well as in the bedroom, and we were made to feel very welcome on arrival.
