A Romantic Retreat -Tastefully converted stone barn with views of 13th C. Abbey ruins & mature garden. Ideal location for touring east coast and Dublin (Airport 30min). Mezzanine bedroom overlooking the open plan living area & wood burning stove.
This barn was converted by the owner in 2008 into a comfortable and inviting open plan living area & kitchen with a mezzanine double bedroom. Exposed stone walls and oak beams are complemented by luxurious furnishings and a cosy wood burning stove. The kitchen / dining area is equipped with gas hob, 3 in 1 Microwave / grill / convection oven, fridge with ice box and is sufficiently well-equipped to please the keen cook. There is a wet room-style shower room and wc. The living area is snug and cosy with a comfortable couch, wood burning stove and an array of interesting and unusual books on the history, flora and fauna of Ireland. A small staircase leads up to the mezzanine bedroom with comfy double bed, clothes storage and excellent views across the garden and countryside beyond. This is a really romantic location - so much so that we have had more than ten honeymooning couples stay here and even two proposals (successful ones!) The accommodation is suitable for up to two adults. Babies are welcome but please note that the barn is not suitable for toddlers or small children due to the steep staircase and wood burning stove. We have been welcoming guests since 2008.
Ardcath is a tiny, quiet village in County Meath, near the border to County Dublin. The village pub is a three minute walk away and is full of character. It hosts an informal traditional Irish music session every Thursday night and guests are welcome, even encouraged, to play or sing. The musicians will even provide you with a musical instrument! Convenience stores are a 5 minute drive. A selection of restaurants in nearby villages - Kilmoon (4 miles), Stamullen (5 miles), Duleek (4 miles) - and in the local large town of Drogheda (10 miles) provide a wide range of menus to suit all tastes. This is an excellent location for touring both Dublin city (50mins drive) and the east coast. The Boyne Valley, Newgrange heritage site and the Hill of Tara are within 20mins drive, as are the beaches of Bettystown and Gormanston. Enjoy any one of a dozen excellent golf courses within 20 miles, as well as horse racing at nearby Bellewstown, Fairyhouse or on the strand at Laytown. Our guests have enjoyed day trips to Wicklow (the Garden of Ireland), the Giants Causeway in Co. Antrim, Carlingford in Co. Louth. Check out hill walking in the Cooley Mountains and exploring the castle ruins in the heritage town of Trim, among many others. Excellent restaurants, cafes and shopping are available in medieval Drogheda, modern Ashbourne, Skerries and Bettystown which are all a 20 min car journey.

We promise 5 star care. You will be in our home, we are not a B&B, Hotel or Hostel. Your room and Toilet/Shower is your dedicated space. As this is a working home we have kept our kitchen private. We encourage you to relax in our beautiful Great Room upstairs and we are delighted to serve you breakfast in our Regency style Dining room. You are welcome to use the garden at any time. Even though the kitchen is strictly private, you will want for nothing. Snacks, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, extra pillows, fluffy blankets and plenty of large fluffy towels plus bath-robes and slippers will be waiting for you in your bedroom. We are delighted to welcome visitors into our family home. NB. Look through the photo Gallery, that tells it best.
We offer our guests Bed and Breakfast in the Twin Room which is the most quiet and peaceful in our home. You will have exclusive use of the shower room next door. However we invite you to luxuriate in our lovely Drawing Room in front of a log fire or to spend time in the garden weather permitting. We know that breakfast in our Dining Room will delight you. In the Royal County of Meath, where legends of The High Kings of Ireland began and where people from the dawn of time built fabulous monuments to ''catch'' the sun's brilliant Solstice rays, we invite you to our haven. Nestled in the rich tapestry of Ireland's most mystical county, minutes away from Newgrange, The Hill of Tara and the majesty of the river Boyne, we invite you to revel in the beauty of it all and to cast your cares to the wind. From a welcoming Afternoon Tea or Coffee in our peaceful and beautiful Drawing Room to a night's sleep in the stillness of the Irish countryside in our tastefully decorated Twin Room to a relaxed breakfast in our Dining Room at our Regency Table, WE REGRET NO KITCHEN AVAILABLE but we offer you a warm Irish welcome for bed and breakfast. We pride ouselves on our caring consideration including many little touches more usual in listings twice our price. We want you to feel cared for and cared about. There are charming tables and chairs set out in the garden in sunshine and shade so, choose a book, take a cup of tea or coffee and relax before setting out on a wonderful day spent in the surrounding countryside or on a trip into town. We are only 35 minutes, via the M1 from Dublin Airport and 40 minutes drive from Dublin city. Never feel that you are confined to your room.....that is such a small part of what we offer, within reason and if at all possible we will meet your requests and needs, with a smile. Here at Cherith Lea House (only 30 mins from Dublin Airport) we are within 20 minutes of Newgrange Passage Tomb (older than the Pyramids) and there are Golf Courses and Links within easy access. To the North there is the village of Carlingford and with close access to Motorways, The Glens of Antrim, The Giant's Causeway and beautiful Belfast are within a couple of hours by car. Dublin City is 40 minutes away. The amenities, too many to list here, are endless and whatever your wish, we will do our utmost to guide you in the right direction. While we will be on hand to offer advice or to give assistance at all times, we prefer to offer you as much privacy as possible. It is our hope that our household can run on silent wheels enabling you to enjoy every comfort with the minimum of fuss. We look forward to getting to know all our guests and we hope that you will enjoy getting to know us. Despite being so close to Dublin City (approx 35Km) and within easy reach of Historic Drogheda, Navan and Dundalk, our little lane is a peaceful jewel. There can be few things more delightful than the Dawn Chorus which begins our day nor the soft darkenss of our quiet nights. If you love stars, you will be stunned by the beauty of our night skies. Our village of Duleek, 5 minutes away, is of huge historic improtance and boasts many interesting monuments and at least 3 good restaurants. We live in a gentle, pastoral landscape which we hope will be a perfect setting for your holiday. There are buses between Duleek and Dublin, Navan and Drogheda several times a day. From the Bus Station in Drogheda there are buses to Dublin every half hour. Drogheda Train Station also offers regular trains between Belfast, Drogheda and Dublin. If you require a Taxi, we will be delighted to organise one for you. Although Bed alone or Bed and Breakfast are what we offer, we will be delighted to make a reservation at one of our favourite local Restaurants if you wish.
Our home, your destination, is a pastoral one. We are located in a lane-way surrounded by fields. There are other houses dotted around but we enjoy a lovely, country ''stand-alone'' position. Our nearest village, Duleek is less than two miles away and there are 2 supermarkets, 2 pharmacies and smaller shops. One excellent restaurant is situated in the middle of the village and is a ''must-visit''. Duleek as with many of the places nearby is steeped in history we will do everything to ensure you enjoy every moment. lat 53°38'8.00 degrees North. Longitude 6° 26'12.46 degrees West.

Pine is one of our sweet Shepherd Huts. It has been traditionally designed and has a beautifully crafted interior. Boasting a kingsize bed it creates a cosy and romantic space perfect for two people or couple sharing.
This is a beautifully crafted Shepherd's Hut (wagon on wheels used by shepherds and railway signalmen in times gone by). Pine has its own small but highly efficient stove with a continual supply of eco-firelighters, kindling and firewood to keep you super cosy. We will help you light your fires and keep you warm with plenty of wood during your stay. Pine is located on our secluded woodland hideaway Glamping area with its own communal facilities (kitchen, showers, toilets and seating areas). In Winter Pine is moved to a more sheltered location by the main Glamping facilities and shares the whole Glamping field overlooking Slane Castle with just one other shepherd's hut Apple. This Glamping area also has a BBQ, wood-fired hot tub and clay pizza oven. So don't forget to order our self-catering pizza packs and BBQ meat packs with ingredients from our organic farm.
Slane is one of the best known heritage villages in Ireland. Thanks to the rock concerts at Slane Castle and now the new whiskey distillery, Slane now has a vibrant food and music culture with restaurants, cafes and bistros as well as great live music pubs. Be sure to book in on a Wednesday night to see the Wednesday Gang open session in Boyle's of Slane and don't forget to book a tour around the new Slane Distillery. We are also only 6km from the UNESCO World Heritage megalithics tombs at Bru Na Boinne (Newgrange) and only 8km from the Battle of the Boyne centre. We also offer kayaking, recreational tree climbing and bike hire to keep you busy while you're here.
