The house was perfect for us. Very clean and organized. Great host always responded in a timely manner. Was only about a 30 to 40 minute drive to Acadia National Park & Bar harbor, depending on traffic it could take longer. If we ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay at the Higgins Retreat again. Thanks again Richard & Tina.

this was the 3rd time our family has stayed,again we had a fantastic time! We chose to return due to the great space, a fabulous indoor pool, great kitchen and an amazing view. Great attention to details, comfortable for large families or groups and peaceful for just 2.

We felt like at home. The house is located in a private property with swimming pool and tennis courts. It’s very clean and very peaceful. Just a clarification about the description : there’s no bathroom in the basement. Then if you come with elderly people or very young kids, it could be annoying. If you like cooking, the kitchen is very well equipped. We´ll keep a very good memory of our stay in Ducktrap Retreat during the colorful foliage season.

Booked this place for our anniversary to get away from the city for a weekend.. we found exactly what we were looking for! The hot tub was wonderful, the house was clean and cute, and we had everything we could have needed! Estelle was very responsive and gave clear instructions for everything. Would recommend this place for a quiet getaway or a small group trip in the summer!

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

I recently stayed with my family at this incredible Airbnb that exceeded all my expectations. This property offered a hot tub, a pool table, and a level of privacy and tranquility that made for a truly relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to watch the northern lights from the hot tub – it was absolutely magical. We spent a week in Acadia, and the location was perfect, just 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor or the nearest town. The hosts were very responsive, and the place was fantastic for families, being both kid and pet friendly. It was a week filled with unforgettable moments, and I can't recommend this place enough!

Great place to stay! The beds are super comfy and the place was much bigger than expected. The house was fully stocked with everything you need and the host is super responsive!! I will definitely be back if I’m ever in the area again :)

This house was perfect for a getaway to Bangor! Scott was a great communicator and answered all of our questions about the surrounding area. This house had all the comfort's of home, would highly recommend for anyone traveling in the area.

We, my son, daughter and I, have said that this was one of our favorites we've stayed at in our forays away from home for work. The interior spaces were thoughtfully decorated which gave it a homey feel. Well done Lindsae!

Nice secluded cabin

Stayed here a few days while exploring New England. It’s a little bit out of the way for Bar Harbor etc. but we had cars so not a big deal. This place would be perfect in the summer with a family and kids. The single living room heater struggled to heat the whole place once temps dropped to the 50s. The place is nicely decorated and we enjoyed our evenings there.

We can't say enough great things about this place! Camp Nacho exceeded our expectations exponentially. The views are beautiful. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and peaceful. The cabin had everything we needed and more. Amon was easy to communicate with and so friendly. We enjoyed the kayaks and the fire pit! We stayed with our 6 kiddos and they had a blast. So many amazing memories were made during out stay!

We had an amazing time. Perfect place to unwind and be in nature. The house was clean and very spacious. So thankful we had the opportunity to experience the house and the beautiful property. Would definitely like to stay again :) Thank you Brian for sharing your beautiful home!

Family was in town for UMaine graduation. Plenty of room for everyone, great porch and views for Sunday lunch after the graduation. 20 minutes from the Cross center as described by the host.

The house was clean and organized, comfortable!! Centralized for all areas of things to do!! Close to casino!! Very nice place !!

The place is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. We were able to bring our Gracey Girl who had an amazing time with all of the smells in the secluded location. We were able to explore areas in town and Bar Harbor. Yes, it was a 45 minute ride to Bar Harbor but it didn't feel like it and to be able to come back to the beautiful home in the peace and quite was amazing. I was paranoid about the electricity, being off the grid, but there were no issues even though we had a couple of cloudy days. The wifi worked well too, both streaming TV and for the little bit of work I did while there.

This welcoming home is spotless and cozy. Situated on the bank of a picturesque lake, we were greeted by the peaceful sounds of nature and lovely shades of fall colors. The thoughtful hosts had left tasty treats on the table for us, along with local suggestions. The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were clean. It was an easy drive to Acadia and the coast as well as into the north Maine woods. If you are looking for a house that instantly feels like home, stay here. Jerry and Kristi, thank you for being great hosts. We had a wonderful stay!

This lake house. There is something about the state of Maine that we love. And now....there is something about this lake house that we love too. The location is great. You feel secluded & away from things, but you are not far from anything. This was our 2nd time staying, & we can not wait to stay again. Hoping to return in October. As the Maine quote goes, The way life should be, is exactly how we feel about the state & the lake house.

We had a wonderful time at Joana’s home for a week! Our group of 8 had plenty of room. The home is spacious, and bright and airy with lots of natural light. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and has plenty of eating areas. We played a lot of ping pong in the garage on our rainy day. The primary bedroom and bathroom upstairs is top notch - comfortable and spacious! It would be good to invest more in the basement bedroom-mattress, pillows, and bedding. Note that it’s an hour to Acadia / Bar Harbor; about 45 minutes to Deer Isle. We loved all the day trips, just noting you should plan for lots of driving. Overall, it was a great week!

We loved our three nights at Seabank. The house was comfortable and immaculate, the kitchen well equipped, and the location—overlooking tidal Goose Bay with views toward Mount Desert Island—could not have been more tranquil (plus an easy 20-minute drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor). Robard was a terrific host, quick to answer our questions, and even lending a hand to ensure that we were able to check in early. We lucked into gorgeous weather and spent lots of time outdoors, reading on the deck, kayaking in the bay at high tide, and relaxing around the fire pit.

First of all the Wonky Donkey is a hilarious name The host was extremely helpful right away by giving good detail on how to find the place, allowing early checkin (saved us as we were able to nap after redeyes, before my brother's graduation), and giving clear info on how to enter We loved seeing the animals outside, and my family absolutely loved how spacious and clean the inside of the home was. The heaters came in clutch for this cold weather we're not used to, and we appreciated getting to use the kitchen and relax in the big living room area Finally, not having to follow a list of demands by the host is awesome in this day and age of Airbnb. We got to leave without worrying about how to do the laundry, where to throw trash away, washing dishes, etc We highly recommend this place if you need to stay in the area!

This place was amazing! The location is off the beaten path but still close enough to everything you need. The house/cabin was the perfect size, great kitchen, awesome to have the luxury of a washer and dryer and nothing could be the view. We definitely will be back!
