Absolutely spectacular in every way! The suite was light and airy, incredible views, stunning architecture. Peaceful surroundings. Joe and Susannah are real gems and we truly loved getting to know them (and the dogs and cat). The food was exceptional. Lots to do in Drake Bay: we barely scratched the surface after being there for 4 nights. We would absolutely stay there again.

Beautiful place with a very large garden and lots of birds. Guadalup and Benjamin are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and varied.

Let me start by saying, I would highly recommend staying here if you’re in this area. The house and cabina are new, very clean and situated on a large, very well maintained finca of sorts. The grounds have every fruit tree imaginable and the hosts enjoy sharing their bounty with guests. Now about the location... The property is a 15-20 minute drive outside of the bustling town of Puerto Jiménez. So, if you’re in search of a tranquilo, safe place to stay then look no further. They do have a dog and he is the kindest, sweetest dog. This could have been an issue since we were traveling with our dog, but it worked out wonderfully. Despite the age difference, our old dog was not traumatized nor terrorized by their dog. Perhaps that’s a mere reflection of the owners? Arturo, our host, even took one of our travel companions on a walk to the beach at the end of the unpaved road, stopping along the way to visit a neighbor. We experienced having a dead battery after leaving our headlights on an Arturo and a neighbor were kind enough to help us jump the car. Such kindness and above and beyond hospitality helps restore my faith in mankind. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay!

Erick was a great host. The house was perfect for my friend and me. It would also be appropriate for a small family—a couple with two kids. The apartment seemed brand new. New tile, new appliances, new air conditioning units. It was quite beautiful. Erick gave us a great suggestion for a restaurant. There was a bike rental nearby as well as many stores within walking distance. Even the dock for the Corcovado Park tours was closeby. I would definitely recommend this place.

in a world of ever more turistified destinations, there are still a few Oasis left that gives you a feeling of something authentic. Drake Bay is one of these. And in this little oasis there is a small piece of paradise to be found at Sue and Joes place at Southern Drake Lodge. The location and the place in itself is mindblowing, but what really sets it apart is the atmosphere they have created and continue to nurture every single day. I can not recommend this place enough! The perfect hosts at the perfect place in the perfect destination. Pura Vida!

A wonderful stay! :) Linda is a very gracious and friendly host, she even came to meet me at the bus station! The accommodation was absolutely spotless, really close to the supermarket and the beach, and felt super safe and comfortable. 100% recommend!

Everything was perfect! The place is very central and private, it is next to the supermarket and if you are going to tour Corcovado, the meeting point either the bakery or the pier are very close

Accommodation in a nice and wild environment. Richard and Kendall were welcoming and warm.

I stayed by myself here and really loved having a room and bathroom to myself. I didn't use the kitchen much (lots of restaurants you can walk to) but it seemed to have adequate appliances. There's not a lot of spices so be sure to bring some if you plan on cooking a lot. I had set up my scuba trip prior to coming here but Alondra helped me organize my boat to Sierpe, which was very helpful. There was an issue with my AC not working one night (seemed to be an electrical issue). And I was given a discount for the night. Alondra and her dad worked very hard to get someone in the next day to fix it. Such great hosts that did their best to help me out. They even got me a big fan for the night without AC. I really didn't mind the situation because I seriously appreciated their care and support. I'm not sure if the walls were thin or if the people next to me were just really loud but maybe bring some earplugs with you. I didn't have any issues with other outside noises. Thanks!

I read many positive reviews before and have to say that all is completely true. Sonia and Gringo waited for us at night to welcome us, they helped us carry the bags to the appartement, Gringo drove us every day with his funny offroad car to our excursions, booked the trips for us, called us when he spotted monkeys or tucans or agoutis in the garden....we really felt like we were part of their family. we highly recommend this nice apartment.
