Villa in Scottsdale
The Pool House
Drift along the lazy river and soak up the sun in Scottsdale at this incredible resort-like home. The envy of the neighborhood, this exciting estate will keep you busy with its one-of-a-kind lagoon pool and several sports activities. Later, gather around the fire pit or take a dip in the hot tub. After warming up on the putting green, play a round at one of many golf clubs in the area.  Decorated with palm trees, alfresco lounge space, and sporting areas, The Pool House’s lagoon-style property is non-stop fun. Inside, you’ll find an open-concept contemporary layout with a spacious kitchen that is the perfect place to hang out before you head out for the night. Rather stay in? Throw the big game on the widescreen, grab a beer from the wet bar, and pull up a seat at the poker table in the games room. If you need a break from the action, find yourself a shady spot under a palm tree to catch up on some reading or take a nap in the hammock.  Grab your camera, hiking boots, and a picnic lunch to enjoy atop one of the lookouts in McDowell Sonoran Preserve, with over 100-miles of rugged desert landscape to explore. After, head to Kierland Commons, Scottsdale’s coolest new entertainment district, for some shopping and lunch at one of their many restaurants and bars. In the evening, check out the pubs in Old Town, or drive 20-minutes to the bustling downtown of Phoenix.  Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. Desert Cove Estate
Grab a beer and a barstool and watch the big game in this Scottsdale estate’s impressive outdoor entertainment area. At halftime, fire up the built-in barbecue and grill up something from a market in Kierland Commons, 14-minutes from home. After, celebrate with a dip in the heated pool or move the group over to the palm tree-lined lawn for a cornhole tournament. Outside, you’ll feel the unique vibe of the desert thanks to earthy stucco tones, natural rock, and exposed-wood pergolas. At the Desert Cove Estate, alfresco dining is a must. A wet bar, outdoor kitchen, and spacious lounge areas with TVs facing every direction creates the perfect atmosphere for a cookout or pool party. Inside, the ambiance takes a modern-contemporary turn, showing off designer furnishings and state of the art electronics. The kids will love the home theatre, arcade, and roasting marshmallows at the fire pit outside. Later in the night, move inside for a tropical cocktail at the wet bar and maybe a game or two of pool. Start the next morning bright and early on one of the PGA’s favorite courses at TPC Scottsdale. The Championship and Stadium courses are legendary tour stops and must-plays for experienced golf aficionados. After lunch at the clubhouse, head to Old Town Scottsdale and explore the 1920’s architecture, boutique shops, and buzzing bar scene 15-minutes from Desert Cove. Copyright © Luxury Retreats. Explore artsy Phoenix

The fifth most populous city in the United States, Phoenix continues to grow in cultural and economic stature. Although many are drawn to the Phoenix area by sport – the city boasts professional baseball, football, basketball, and ice-hockey teams, as well as over 200 golf courses, there is much more here to discover. For art-lovers, there is the Phoenix Art Museum, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, the R. Pela Contemporary Art Gallery, and the Heard Museum, which is dedicated to Native American art. Phoenix’s retail scene has also blossomed in recent years, so as well as high-end designer boutiques shoppers will find offbeat independent stores selling unique pieces from around Arizona and beyond. From a culinary perspective, Phoenix has emerged as a pioneer in south-western cuisine, so be sure to sample the local restaurants, many of which are heavily influenced by the city’s proximity to the Mexican border.

Experience Sedona’s mystical charm

Locals refer to Sedona as a cathedral without walls, and indeed this desert town just south of the city of Flagstaff has a reputation as a center for spirituality. Although it might sound a little New-Age, Sedona is believed by many to be the site of a number of ‘vortexes’, which radiate the earth’s power and exert a strong force on anyone nearby. Whether you believe this or not, the town and its surroundings are undeniably beautiful, with dramatic, rust-red formations such as Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte, all well worth exploring. Afterwards, head into the compact town center, which is bustling with shops, art galleries, and gourmet restaurants.
