The area is safe and quiet, and located close to the center. Ju as a host was proactive and helpful in many ways, and was willing to help us out with whatever we needed. I felt really comfortable staying there. One minor (even irrelevant) inconvenience for us was that one bathroom had hot water whilst the other didn't. It was not a problem taking turns. I would recommend the house to anyone wanting to visit Sao Tome.

We had a wonderful week in this special place. The bungalows were furnished with great attention to detail, and are very clean and well maintained. The staff are super nice and always helpful. The food was awesome: very tasty, varied and plentiful. The prices are absolutely fair and the boss is very flexible when it comes to payment options. The secluded beach invites you to swim and relax. For this purpose, the operator and his team have provided wooden deck chairs and hammocks. There are only three huts, so there is no mass tourism. Absolute recommendation, we would definitely travel there again.

We had a lovely time at Bastien’s, it was a very peaceful location and off the beaten track. Beautiful local beach which we had virtually to ourselves. Bastien gave us really good instructions on how to get there and which roads to avoid. The staff were great however when booking trips you need to book with Bastien or his assistant. We were approached by another member of staff about a trip, which we thought was legit and agreed. We were told after that we shouldn’t have done that. While Bastien was very proactive in sorting it out it did make us feel a bit awkward around the said member of staff. One thing to consider is there is no air con or hot water due to it being an eco-lodge, which was fine with us but others may struggle. Apart from that we can’t fault our time spent there and would recommend to anyone travelling to Sao Tome.

José was a friendly and considerate host. His apartment was not available to us due to unexpected difficulties with water supply, but José already had alternative arrangements in place for us at a very nice guest house. We would definitely make contact with him again at our next stay.
