Farmstay holiday rentals in Amherst County

If I could give this place and the owners more than 5 stars, I would. The house and the views were absolutely amazing! The owners were fantastic and very responsive! My family was in town because my daughter was getting married and they fell in love with the place. My 83 year old father even caught some fish in the catch and release pond! I absolutely would recommend this place to anyone.

Wow! What an amazing place! We had so much fun! There is plenty of space inside—7 bedrooms and 6 baths—with plenty of places to congregate. Front porch, back porch, fire pit and other outside seating areas are wonderful! The huge house was clean and inviting. It is a wonderful escape!

Peaceful, beautiful property. House was comfortable and equipped, would definitely stay again.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The scenery was amazing, the house was exactly as advertised and the fire pit was lovely as well. Will was very responsive when we needed something. I hope to come visit again for another boys trip!! Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

Rebecca was an outstanding host. An amazing person and a pleasure to be around. The property and house were exactly what we were looking for during our weekend of history. The horses are amazing to be around and the property is so peaceful. It’s a different feel there. The house was beautiful. Highly recommend

I can't wait to go back to the Open Heart Inn. I don't remember sleeping that good in a very long time. It was peaceful, historical, cozy, and felt like I was back at my grandmother's house.

Beautiful home very close to the Virginia Horse Center. Had a lovely time staying here.

Have stayed in and around Amherst and Lynchburg with Airbnb MANY times... this is our new favorite!

It was beautiful and peaceful. The house was clean and spacious and if he had any questions or needed help with something she was very responsive. It was a healing trip for our family and exactly what we needed. We hope we can return next year!

My family and I stayed at Athlone Farm to attend and celebrate my brother’s graduation from VMI. While it was a bit of a clip to Lexington due to mountain roads, the house was a great size for my family. The house and location are beautiful. We loved being able to spend time on the porch and watch the cows, and the interior is incredible. We truly felt like we were at an old and well-kept farmhouse. Cindy was so helpful with the check-in and made things really simple for us. We appreciated the treats that were left at check-in after our long drive, and she even left an umbrella for us as we had arrived during a big rainstorm. I was really impressed with how thorough she was in her binder — there were recommendations for everything, right down to local restaurant menus!

What an outstanding experience. There were four of us and the drive to the house was beyond "Virginia quaint" and so beautiful. The Blue Ridge was viewable from many vantage points at the house. The bedrooms were large and beautifully furnished. Kitchen was huge with all the equipment and table settings you could ask for. The enclosed porch allowed us to revisit childhood with the animal neighbors that wandered through. The feel of the house when you walked in was, "welcome, kick your shoes off and stay a while". Our host was pro-active in reaching out to us. Gave us a great recommendation for pizza/pasta/fun nearby and she was all around great to work with. We already have plans for our next visit!

We will certainly be back if we are ever in that area again. It was so peaceful and the family loved it. Spent a lot of time sitting in the rocking chairs on the back porch enjoying the peace. Gorgeous farm and great host! 10/10 would recommend!

Suzy was an amazing host. This place was so peaceful and relaxing. We instantly fell in love with her pups, location and cabin. This place is now my “go to” accommodation when in VA. Suzy was very friendly and welcoming!! Thanks so much Suzy for opening your cabin to us and having such sweet sweet pups!

What an amazing place to stay for our 20th anniversary! The beautiful scenery of the vineyard and horses by day and ability to come home and sit by the outdoor fire pit under the lights at night set the backdrop for a beautiful weekend shared with family to celebrate. Also a perk was the private wine tasting onsite at their new tasting room and being able to bring in a private chef for the night for our anniversary dinner. I rarely go back to a location since I love to travel but I would go back here!

Claudia’s place was spotless! Beautiful views right from the property. Loved the Firepit in the backyard. Dogs had a great time too! Great location with lots to do in the surrounding areas, we followed recommendations in the guide book in the Airbnb, everything was fantastic. We visited Bonfire Burgers & Bourbon in Amherst, Mt Pleasant for a hike, and Ankida Vinyards. We had 4 people and 2 dogs and the space was perfect. Highly recommend!

We had a great time! The house and the surrounding area were beautiful!

Nancy and her husband were the nicest and super helpful. The property was gorgeous, the amenities and furniture were super comfortable. The first night was spent telling stories around the fire and enjoying the beautiful stars. My wife and I are foodies and ordered local chicken, pork and beef from Nancy which we prepared for a lovely family dinner on our second night. Check in and check out could not have been any easier. If you go to Lynchburg and you enjoy pastries and coffee go check out The Flour District.

The FarmHouse Cottage was an amazing place to gather with my family for our daughter’s college graduation. We loved the whole experience…from the beautiful landscape, having plenty of big beds and bathrooms to match, and a wonderful attentive host. There was always hot water for everyone’s shower. Plenty of towels. A great dining table for meals. And the added bonus of the magnified mirror for old eyes & makeup was much appreciated. We absolutely recommend this family friendly place.

Wonderful place to stay! The house was spotless and had spacious living areas. The kitchen was beautiful, clean, and fully stocked. The bedroom was comfy and the property as a whole was super peaceful. Me and my husband loved the overhead fans, the spacious shower/bathroom, and the easy check-in. I would definitely stay here again if we were in the area! This historic home deserves to be seen and cherished by future guests.

Very comfortable. The apartment is on the 2nd floor, which was not an issue for us, but if you have mobility issues, the stairs could be difficult. The bed has a sleep number mattress! So comfortable. Very friendly, accommodating host, who told us not to hesitate to let her know is we needed anything. Would definitely recommend.

Our family of seven spent two nights here to have family Thanksgiving, The drive to the house is very beautiful with mountains in the distance. The house was very spacious and clean. The integrity of the farm house itself is very warm, with many of the original floors and woodwork. The game room in the basement is a plus. Morning walks down by the creek give you an opportunity to be connected to nature. Very special visit and most definitely would recommend this charming home to others. I travel all over the country and world. I am very picky. Karen’s place is incredible! Although it is a 200 year old farm house, it is modernly equipped, spacious, and comfortable. The home and farm are absolutely peaceful. We loved the outdoor spaces to relax, comfortable beds, and clean and efficient kitchen. Karen was incredibly gracious, helpful, a d accommodating. Should we have any reason to stay in the area again, I would quickly and without hesitation book our whole stay at Karen’s beautiful farm house. ♥️
