Cabin holiday rentals in Amherst County

The home is lovely. The kitchen is well-appointed for making meals at home. The living room is comfortable and well-suited for hanging out. We enjoyed both the hot tub and the pool and the wooded area around the home, gave us the opportunity to see deer and other forms of wildlife. The area is quiet and we felt totally relaxed being at the house. There’s plenty of parking for multiple vehicles. Shawana Lynn and her husband are consummate hosts. They left snack and toiletry baskets, which we found to be very thoughtful and handy since we had forgotten our body wash. They provide plenty of towels, blankets, and pillows so guests can customize their comfort levels. Any issues that came up when we were there were quickly and graciously addressed. The amenities are perfect for a relaxing stay in the mountains. We also really enjoyed the location. It’s a beautiful area with hikes, nature drives, wineries and breweries. We had a blast here and we would totally stay again.

We loved our stay here! Upon arrival we were met with a perfectly clean place alongside free snacks and other amenities. The unique style of the cabin by itself made it a fun stay but combined with how well kept Gretchen had the place and all the fun things to do in the cabin made it an outstanding stay.

We were looking for a cabin, hoping to find a quiet place to rest, relax and recharge in nature. We never dreamed that we would find an authentic 18th century cabin located in the forest on a mountain top - with an excellent view of the surrounding mountains. The inside of the cabin was beautifully furnished as would be expected in colonial Virginia. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the experience of stepping back in time.

We had a great stay celebrating our 10 year anniversary and also a birthday. The house has everything you could need and we loved cooking on the grill and loved that the kitchen was stocked with all the essentials. The house is the perfect layout for kids and dogs as well and the hot tub felt amazing after we hiked Crabtree Falls. The proximity to town and the local pie shop was perfect. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and would love to come stay again.

Where to start. Dee is such a kind woman. She was great in communication since before I even booked. Absolutely nothing negative to say about the host. My GPS told me to take a right when I got to the top. And between my stress and the rain, I didn't actually look up at the numbers, and ended up having to back down in reverse. But once I got my bearings straight, I was SO thankful to find it and see such a great cozy cabin. It rained the whole time I was there. I didnt get much of a view due to all the fog. But when it did show up, it was so great to see! For me, phone signal was completely out, so was thankful to the wifi. The cabin is built so well and sturdy. I was a little skeptical of the ladders, but learned to be okay with them. Everything essential was stocked in the house. Super clean. Linens smelt great. My only complaint was the downstairs shower head was horrible, but didnt want to dirty the other bathroom. Dee is hands down the best, and I appreciate the stay! 🖤

Place was as described very private and secluded. We really enjoyed it, we came with the dog the one thing to note it is in the woods so there were a lot of ticks but other than that it was very pleasant stay.

Beautiful spot, Sarah very responsive, nice to have a few waters, milk, coffee to start the stay. Very thoughtfully done. Driveway into property a little tricky to find after dark the first time there. Definitely would stay there again.

Had a great time! Not far from several towns. Close to the Otter Lake which is a great walk. The cabin was well-maintained, and had everything we needed.

Suzy was an amazing host. This place was so peaceful and relaxing. We instantly fell in love with her pups, location and cabin. This place is now my “go to” accommodation when in VA. Suzy was very friendly and welcoming!! Thanks so much Suzy for opening your cabin to us and having such sweet sweet pups!

The place is nice, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery with the animals on the farm (our dogs made some new equine friends), it was a different kind of getaway but one we won’t soon forget. Recommended for people looking for a laid back peaceful trip.

Great place for a couple to stay, either for one night or a few nights! The place was secluded and cozy and made for a great way to take a break from reality and just enjoy the moment. Will definitely be back!

I stayed in the cabin on the river, I must say it was probably the best few days I’ve ever had. Such a beautiful and peaceful set up, not to mention the farm as a whole was amazing. I will definitely be back!

Stephanie's little cottage was just as pictured. The bed was very comfortable as was the furnishings. We took advantage of the well stocked kitchen making about half our meals in house. We enjoyed sitting out in the screened porch both in the mornings and evenings. There was ample parking for our truck, small motorcycle trailer, and two bikes. It might not be the easiest to find but it is very quiet and peaceful once there. Groceries and restaurants are conveniently close by but the cottage has the feeling of being away from it all. We saw two friendly woodchucks almost everyday and two deer bedded down in the yard right outside our door. We rode the Blue Ridge parkway, which is accessed about 15mi from the cottage, at the James River. Heading south we climbed to the Peaks of Otter topping out at 3950ft. Heading north we made it to Whetstone Bridge before turning around. We found Stephanie's little cottage to be the perfect place to stay while exploring the area.

This place was as advertised and a perfect peaceful getaway with cows within yards of the cabin. Wil was also a very gracious host and made our stay well worth it.

One of life’s milestones, spent five days in a cabin by a beautiful river, We were there with our four adult children, sitting on the front porch, just chatting and wading in the river, couple evenings of fires in the fire pit, and two sit-down dinners in the screened enclosure. Fantastic. Late night runs to the nearby Cook-Out, for shakes and fries. And five minutes to SVU, VMI, and W & L. Not in the boondocks, but it’s very very remote and unspeakably beautiful.

The cabin was spacious with a cozy feel. It had everything we needed to enjoy with our little one including a nice wooden high chair!
