Farmstay holiday rentals in Alajuela Province

My friend and I really appreciated Ana Maria's hospitality and her family's gorgeous home. We loved the special personal touches including the jungle of house plants and well-stocked library with board games and books. Having the fireplace stocked with wood made it possible to have the perfect ambiance for reading in front of the fire on a misty afternoon! We found it helpful to have earplugs at night, as the home is close to a transit road, and earplugs did the trick to help us sleep soundly.

If you are like me, always looking for views and sunsets don’t think twice! This comfortable little mountain home has by far the best views we have found so far in Monteverde. We usually head out at sunset time looking for a good spot but this stay we spent every evening watching the spectacular and ever changing panorama from our own front porch. Super comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Would like to add Waze will get you to the lower gate (search Casa del sol, Unnamed road). Just continue on the unpaved road and you will get there! Village is called Altos de Cebadilla.

We absolutely loved this place. It is well maintained and has everything you need. It feels like home. The woodwork in the house is so beautiful. The property is gorgeous and has trails to explore. Carolina and Manuel arranged to get some specially requested food for our stay. They had the food there for our arrival which was so helpful. Manuel took us on an awesome night hike. Carolina’s husband also gave us a tour of the property too. Carolina and her family really go out of their way to make this a welcoming place. They grow amazing coffee on the property which we really enjoyed. They also shared their garden veggies and the bananas. We stayed 4 days and wished we had stayed longer. We found it easy to go into Monteverde for activities like coffee tours, cloud forest, animal sanctuary el Tigre waterfall, etc. There are some great restaurants close by the house and of course in monteverde too. We enjoyed ordering homemade empanadas from cafe Horizonte for breakfast.

Wir waren als Paar in der Unterkunft von David. Es ist ein sehr privates Gelände mit zwei separaten Häusern. Ein Auto sollte definitiv vorhanden sein. Der Blick durch die Glasfassade oder auch vom Balkon aus auf den Vulkan sind faszinierend. Der Balkon ist sehr einladend, um ein kühles Getränk zu genießen oder Yoga zu machen - tolle Kulisse! In der Umgebung gibt es auch Restaurants, wobei ich hier empfehlen würde nach La Fortuna zu fahren (ca 20-30mim Fahrtzeit). Die Kommunikation mit David war einwandfrei, schnell und freundlich. Mögliche Aktivitäten für aktive Personen in einem Umgebung von ca 60km: Hanging Bridges, Cavernas de Venado, Rio Celeste, Mirador El Silencio.

J'ai adoré séjourner chez Vera, j'y retournerais n'importe quand! Je me suis tout de suite sentie comme chez moi, mais dans un endroit paradisiaque! C'est le lieu parfait pour se reposer en toute tranquillité, merci pour tout Vera! :)

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in La Fortuna! The highlight was definitely the stunning Arenal Volcano views—right in the backyard, it felt surreal. The location was perfect—close to all the best spots in La Fortuna, yet peaceful and private. The house itself was very clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host was extremely responsive and helpful throughout. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

This place was absolutely perfect for what we needed for our family of 4. Our boys are teenagers and were fine sleeping in the room separate from the house. Everything was as expected and communication was great. Views were gorgeous as described. One of our most favorite stays in Costa Rica.

We really enjoyed our time in Monteverde. The location is exactly as pictured. The view of the mountains is incredible! And it is a very peaceful location, but only 15 minutes into town. Yamileth was helpful and met us when we arrived to ensure we knew which drive and how to locate the parking. I would recommend this location to anyone considering the Monteverde area.

Our stay at Rancho Montecito was beyond amazing. The accommodation is second to none, and the views from it are incredible and emotional; from the peace of the morning with the birds singing, to the exhilarating theatre of dramatic thunderstorms. The forest walk, ending at a stream with a green meadow beyond it, was beautiful, and the herds of white Brahman/Nelore cattle were striking against the jungle background. We love that this is a ‘no-kill’ farm. Debbie was welcoming and went out of her way to ensure that we had the best experience possible not only of her ranch, but also of the whole area. Her story of finding the farm, and the vision she had for it, was mesmerizing. Using her immense knowledge of fauna and flora, she poured her energy into it and molded it into the truly amazing place it is now. Thank you so much, Debbie, for such a unique and magical experience. We truly felt we made a lifelong friend from pretty much the moment we met you, and we can’t wait to return.

We’ve stayed at some cool places over the years, but Casa Del Mono is one of my all-time favorites. It’s a perfect little getaway for anyone who wants to be close to nature but with all the comforts of home. It’s a very private property sitting way up the side of a mountain with a beautiful courtyard and hiking trails right out the front door. You simply cannot beat the view, and waking up to a chorus of birds like toucans, oropendolas, and tanagers was incredible (bring your binoculars)! The house itself is beautiful and well-equipped with everything you need. The kitchen is fully stocked, the bed is comfortable, and the shower/tub are gorgeous. It was everything we were hoping for in a Costa Rican stay, and I hope we get to visit again soon!

This was such a great first stop on our costa rica trip! It was an easy and beautiful drive from the San Jose airport. We had clear and helpful directions and the views were amazing. We would absolutely stay again! Our kids loved the play house, swings, and (although it scared mama a little) they loved the hammock off the master. The master bed was super comfortable and all the windows had stunning views. Loved it 🫶🏼

Rosi's place is the best! We had a wonderful time in the area. We saw Tucans and parrots flying by and a surprise Tapir when we were eating at the nearby brewery. Definitely would stay again

This airbnb was absolutely beautiful. I remember seeing it coming up and not realizing it was our place and then my boyfriend pulled into the driveway and i was so excited bc it had immediately caught my attention! the shower was to DIE for. Everything was so perfect and such a wonderful welcome to our first days here. It is perfectly located and the bedroom fan was actually perfect for keeping us cool at night. The windows,doors, shower everything was just absolutely beautiful and i loved the plants and flowers all around. You guys outdid yourselves truly, thank you so much for providing such a beautiful stay 🩷

Amazing place to stay with friends or family and close to La Fortuna downtown and the El Salto rope swing. Great backyard with grill and pool that is covered from the rain.

This Airbnb is a nature lover's dream. Beside the bedroom and bathroom, everything is outside! We enjoyed cooking, reading, and playing cards outside on the covered patio. There are lots of birds and lizards to see and the landscaping is beautiful. We used the pool daily, which is in a very cute area. The location is close to downtown Sarchi. Alonso was very responsive to everything we needed.

Stunningly beautiful place, and the pool is perfect for escaping the heat. The villa is great, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is a mountain top oasis. We loved the view of the Arenal volcano from the infinity pool. The place was the perfect size for our two families. There was plenty of room for everyone. Mario was very attentive to our needs. We even got the opportunity to milk a cow and visit the farm. If you visit La Fortuna, you should consider staying here, you are close to town but still in the country.

Our family came for the first time to Costa Rica and we are super thankful for the hospitality that Mauricio and his family had towards us. Every afternoon his mother came by and drop us some hand made bread. Her dad was always super friendly with our kids and provide us with the opportunity to feed the animals and shared some fresh eggs. Hospitality from this host has been nothing but exceptional!! Laura and Verny are wonderful hosts. We were very grateful that they opened their beautiful home to us. From the moment we walked into the house, we felt like we were walking into our own home. Laura had everything in her kitchen that I needed to cook and bake for my family. The views surrounding their home are breathtaking.
